Oh...sorry..it is routine exercise here regardless of the topic. Failed attempts at shutting me up are often accompanied by vehement decalarations that I am not an American at all, so frustrated be their circumstance. Oddly, the biting responses of a fellow Canadian are seen as less threatening. Go figure....

You are becoming defensive. Would you like a hug?

I don't know why you persist in this way....I have been more than happy to avoid your man with no country ideology. I'm sure you can be superior without any crumbs tossed my way.

Can?

Am!

Why would anybody want to shut you up? Certainly not Canadians, we're way too passive for that kind of nonsense...

Ooops, sorry, brainfreeze from a Slurpy, forgot where I was for a sec, Winnipegs the Slurpy capital of the world you know...

Oh..yea...BUST THOSE UNIONS NOW!

Face the consequences NOW!

I heard 8 Republican state senators are being recalled, have you heard that?

How about the Gov., him too?

And to think that only a few years ago Madison was rated the "best place to live" in the USA...

I almost bought a house there because of that, kinda glad now I didn't...

It's all good....there is money to be made either way.

Stay out of the USA, or I will just use the bigger CanAm emigration statistic to make some folks here very mad.

Back to Wisconsin...I guess we can pretend that conservative ideology trumps democratic will, if we wish. But check the following out...and the Tea Prtiers thought that they were the "populist uprising"! :)

It appears they go against the popular will.

The governors Tea Party allies attempted to grab the spotlight with a rally at the state Capital. Unfortunately, the much-hyped event, which national Tea Party groups had poured money and organizing energy into generating, drew an anemic crowd of several thousand. Even by the optimistic estimates of the Tea Partisans themselves, the pro-Walker turnout was one-tenth the size of the crowd that came to oppose the governors so-called budget repair bill.

The governor made things worse for himself by going on CNN and announcing that he had received 19,000 e-mails from the quiet majority of Wisconsinites since he made his proposal and claimed that most of them were supportive.

Dumb move. Really dumb move.

Within hours of making his claim, the streets of Madison were filled by what veteran political organizers described as the largest demonstration ever seen in the city. Former Mayor Paul Soglin, a key organizer of antiVietnam War protests, said, We had some big demonstrations in the sixties, but this is bigger.

Organizers of a 2004 rally featuring Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry and rocker Bruce Springsteen, where the crowd was estimated at 80,000, pointed out that Saturdays protest against Walkers budget filled a significantly larger space. And, they noted, thousands of addition opponents of the governors proposal packed the Capitol.

Mahlon Mitchell, the president of the Wisconsin Professional Firefighters Association, which has been a high-profile participant in the demonstrations, surveyed the crowd while recounting Walkers boast about the 19,000 e-mails.

I think I have 19,000 people behind me, said Mitchell.

Pointing to one edge of the massive audience arrayed before him, he said: And 20,000 there.

He pointed to the other edge of the crowd: And 20,000 there.

Finally, he pointed down State Street, the thoroughfare that stretches from the Capitol to the University of Wisconsin campus, which was packed with students who have backed the unions: And 20,000 there.

Not suprising. Wisconsin has over 300,000 public sector workers. They're trying to turn as many as they can out for the protest. The vast majority of the state have real jobs to go to during the week, and don't have doctors handing out fake notes to excuse their absenses.

Nothing wrong with that...don't let the elitists here foist their own shame on you.

Not sad at all...it's just more of how the US was born and has always been. It's a very dynamic place compared to...uh...you know where. If you change that, it won't be America the United States any more. For Public employees in Wisconsin, it's their turn in the barrel.

- “The power of government in this state does not come from this Capitol,” she said of the building that was surrounded by teachers, educational assistants, nurses, snow-plow drivers and state engineers, as well as their tens of thousands of backers. “The power comes from the people.”

Me thinks there are a few Americans on the RIGHT that may want to make note of that, or ignor it at their own peril...

Okay...but back to your passionate point....why didn't they vote this way in such numbers back in November?

In this case, conservative ideology Is the democratic will.

But you have no evidence to prove any such thing.

Your belief in this is itself part of your conservative ideology.

Not suprising. Wisconsin has over 300,000 public sector workers. They're trying to turn as many as they can out for the protest. The vast majority of the state have real jobs to go to during the week, and don't have doctors handing out fake notes to excuse their absenses.

Those people are citizens too...as much as you might hate that irritating fact.

So where's all your evidence of the "popular will" being conservative and opposed to the unions?

And the fake doctors notes? where's your evidence for that?

Feeling a little smear-happy today?

They didn't know what they were voting for. The majority of Bush voters thought he supported the Kyoto protocol. The majority of Harper voters believed him a fiscal conservative. The majority of Obama voters thought he would do other than what he actually said during his campign.

And so on and so on.

You left out Chretien and Martin (Kyoto)...as always. No matter, democracy rules, and here is how they voted (those that did):

Stupid Americans and their voter apathy? Not that Canadians are any different... It takes a RADICAL event like this to open a mundan public's eyes to the "downside" of not being politically aware and involved...

Just sayin'

Not stupid at all...it's their choice...same as in Canada. Wisconsin is not in Australia.

Oh, sure, I'm a big fan of Chretien and Martin. :) They're a lot closer to your power-worshipping ideology than I am.

Yes, but you implied that they voted for specific anti-union policies. Now, you're wisely backtracking, as the proper corrective to your error, and conceding that you have no clue if that's the case, and that it's "no matter."

Hell, we're almost in agreement. Now that you've come to your senses.
