bloodyminded Posted January 17, 2011 Author Report Posted January 17, 2011 You're not anti-Zionistic? No. I find the criticisms of Zionism to be unconvincing, perhaps confusing some behaviours with the whole. To me, it's like calling an independence movement evil because you don't like some particular actions. For this, I am evidently a "left gatekeeper," in the same company as Chomsky. You sure seem that way. You support Jewish independence in Israel via Jewish statehood? Of course. I'm a little surprised at the question, but glad at least that the matter can be clarified. Bonam Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 Of course. I'm a little surprised at the question, but glad at least that the matter can be clarified. There's a subtle distinction: does one support the existence of the state of Israel, or does one support the existence of Israel as a Jewish state? Supporting its existence as a Jewish state means accepting that some measure or other will have to be undertaken to prevent Israeli politics from becoming dominated by non-Jews (Arabs) as their relative portion of the population grows. It is becoming increasingly trendy to expect Israel to behave like any other Western democracy where no particular emphasis is placed on maintaining the cohesive identity/culture of any ethnic/religious group, but that would defeat the purpose of Israel's existence. Jack Weber Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 Are you using an obscure dictionary to tell me I don't know Hebrew? I know Hebrew. "Goyim" isn't a disparaging term. The only way it could be disparaging is if utilized with a rude tone. Imagine "white people". It can be disparaging if said a certain way. Either way, I'll end it here - I'm not going to argue with a Goy about Hebrew... especially when your very own link contains separate entries with the accurate definition - without an incorrect description of the word as disparaging. You're right.. It also is used to disparage non-Christians... I'm a Prebyterian...So it is disparaging and insulting... I assume because of your "Israel Uber Alles" stance that you inherently feel some sense of ethnic superiority over...Well...Every non-Jew,a la Begin (read about Jimmy Carter's conversations with Begin, and Begin's attitudes towards non-Jews at Camp David)... Frankly Bobby, all you (and your ilk)are is a necessary (and distasteful) prphetical sign for us Christians.Keep worrying about your little ethnically superior pile of Meditarenean rocks,though... And start ther real killing as soon as possible.Who gets killed amongst you folks really does'nt concern me...The return of the Messiah does! Quote The beatings will continue until morale improves!!!
Moonlight Graham Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 (edited) I also applaud the youth who wrote/support this. However, one big problem. It offers no real solution or call to action. They are sick and tired of everyone and everything...but what exactly are they going to do about? Speaking out is wonderful, but not enough. Maybe they should get out from behind their computer screens and go Gandhi on everyone. dre Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 Read it and weep,Bobby... http://www.thefreedictionary.com/goyim Enjoy your pile of rocks... Just tell us when you extremists really start killing each other so we know the Messiah's return is near... Its not just a pile of rocks dude... Theres dirt too.
