I swear to God, if America didn't exist, God would have created a country where atheist socialists could be free.

Whatta country.

God bless the USA! B)

You mean like most of Europe?

The US voters base their decision on multi-million dollar fearmongering marketing campaigns that stake out certain positions, making it nearly impossible for moderates to take a moderate position.

Bernie Sanders is a courageous individual who is not afraid to speak the truth. He recognizes that socialist is not necessarily a bad thing. He is not afraid to speak in favour of high taxes when they are needed, and is more than willing to speak up and oppse any politician, be they Republican or Democrat.

The fact that he is perpetually re-elected in Vermont, speaks well of the state.

If it weren't for the oil, I'd propose a swap of Alberta for Vermont.

In America, voters send people like Bernie Sanders and Rand Paul to the Congress of a republic under a Constitution that has existed for almost 250 years. No country in Europe can boast such.

What does that have to do with being allowed to be an atheist socialist?

Sure. The same way a Democratic fascist is different from a fascist.

Yah for sure! No wait you made that term up and Democratic Socialist is a very real term which has been around and defined for a long time. Maybe you could look it up instead of applying simpleton arguments to real world situations.

PS New Democratics in the States are different from New Democratics in Canada too, even though their names are similar did your pea brain blow up from that idea?

Funny how the USA has had "socialist" style programs in place for a very long time... America is already "socialist". THere is no bogey-man called socialism.... it's already there if anyone cares to look.

medicare for seniors

welfare

unemployment insurance

gov't retirement pensions

gov't funded infrastructure

banking regulations

gov't regulations to protect workers

etc, etc, etc

geez... socialism is rampant down there...

Of course it's a real term. A real made up term. Made up by socialists that couldn't get elected if they actually called themselves what they are. So they added the "democratic" part to it.

Yep, and it's bankrupting the country, as it's doing in many other places.

(Btw, unemployment insurance, banking regulations, and worker regulations aren't socialism.)

Sure in the world of Crazy town where you live this is true. Better load up your gun Shady and go out red hunting I hear their are ruskies in your neck of the woods you better be very scared everyone who doesn't agree with you is a Commie I hear.

Seriously though Democratic Socialism has a long history and is very different from Socialism. Just as the progressive Conservatives aren't scary scary left wing progressives Democratic Socialist aren't Socialist. Jesus get out of 1950 grow some brain matter and join the conversation for once.

Social democracy is a political ideology of the centre-left on the classic political spectrum. The contemporary social democratic movement seeks to reform capitalism to align it with the ethical ideals of social justice while maintaining the capitalist mode of production, as opposed to creating an alternative socialist economic system.

Are you joking or do you really not know anything? This time I'm honestly confused.
