Topaz
After reading this article I started to think maybe healthcare money should be treated like the CPP. Have a separate group monitor what happens to the money and if we get our money's worth. Very good read and what does happen to our healthcare and were the weakness in the systems. http://ca.finance.yahoo.com/personal-finance/article/canadianbusiness/1872/the-worst-run-industry-in-canada-health-care

RNG
That's what CIHI was (kind of) supposed to do, but if people don't care about service then what is the point ? As long as the civil service unions and the nurses union continue blackmailing governments at all levels, we are screwed.
Shady
Hmmm, health care is the worst run industry. And who runs the health care industry? The Government. Hmmm. Sounds like a dog bites man story.

There are lots of unionized industries that have to control wages. There has to be a will to do it.
pfezziwig
Healthcare unions are behaving just like Buzz Hargrove and the auto sector did the previous 30 years, they took all they could and got out before bankruptcy was achieved, leaving nothing for the next generation. In the healthcare public sector the same story is playing out, everyone knows healthcare spending is unsustainable but senior union members are taking as much as they can before a Greece like bankruptcy is achieved. Senior union leaders and employees will be fine though as they bail with a pile of money and juicy pension and leave nothing for the next generation, not to mention a healthcare system in shambles. Worst generation of Canadians ever.
