Thread "Views" Numbers

I have noticed that statistics for "views" beside a thread title often seem erroneous. In some cases, the statistic shows 0 (zero) even though the thread has many replies and even more than one page.

Am I reading this wrong or is this a software glitch?

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter. But then I noticed, capricorn, that you went to the trouble to identify yourself as a female in Ottawa.

IOW, in the greater grand scheme of things, nothing we do on this forum matters. But we still want to know what the story is.

Agreed. It matters like talking to people matters. I just had to explain that to DogOnPorch, who was lamenting that I put my opinion on MLW !!! The NERVE I have !!!

I don't think this is a glitch. I'm not familiar with this specific operation of the forum, but I'm willing to speculate that these numbers are not updated "as they happen" but rather are tabulated nightly by a regular script.

I will see if I can find out why and update this thread when I know more. In the mean time, watch the views number for this thread and lets see when it updates.

I wondered the same way, Greg. Weird, but possible. (Then again. I can understand why financial software would wait until the close of business for tabulations but why would chat forum software do the same?)

As Capricorn queried above, does this matter? In the great grand scheme of things, it doesn't.

But IME, one small problem is often a signal of a much greater problem elsewhere. Hence, my OP.

It looks like I've solved the problem. It now shows this thread as having 272 Views. Please update this thread if you see any other issue with the stats.
