Topaz Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 Show host Colbert went before Congress to tell them to do something about the illegal immigrants because he went and spend ONE day on a farm and he didn't like the work because for him it was very very hard. Its also hard for other Americans that don't want that kind of job and that the immigrants are needed. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/100924/world/us_congress_colbert Quote
Wilber Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 (edited) Seems to me, that's exactly what he was saying. I love how he messed with their heads getting the point across. They didn't know what the hell to make of him or what to do about it without making themselves look stupid. BubberMiley Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 They didn't know what the hell to make of him or what to do about it without making themselves look stupid. Beautiful That's because it was stupid that he was there wasting their time, and they knew it. Wilber Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 That's because it was stupid that he was there wasting their time, and they knew it. Or perhaps he was there helping them waste their time. I really wonder how many of them have the best interests of farm workers at heart regardless of where they come from. I think Colbert does in spite of all his nonsense. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC
GostHacked Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Bud, the video was pretty good. I am not sure if the panel knew that he was mocking the hell out of them and the whole process. I think this is what he is trying to bring to light more than the topic he was talking about. Looking at the people in the room, some laughed at/with him , some looked utterly confused. This goes for the people sitting in the room and those on the panel. Quote
wyly Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 he made a very good point in his own way, a way that the politicians had no clue how to deal with... this isn't a new issue we had migrant farm workers in Canada 40 years ago in the Tobacco fields Canadians weren't up to doing back breaking work for minimum wages...I can't say I blame them... my grandparents did the same as migrant farm workers in Germany back in the 20s and 30s... Shady Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 (edited) Colbert was hilarious. I don't fault him for anything he did at the hearing. However, the idiot congresswoman who asked him to testify is another story. What did she think was going to happen? Apparently congress has time to invite comedians to Washington, but they don't have time to vote on taxes. Edited September 27, 2010 by Shady Quote

Apparently congress has time to invite comedians to Washington, but they don't have time to vote on taxes. For once we agree. Anyone who is at all bothered by the situation is remiss to blame Colbert for doing exactly what he always does, without exception, in every public situation.
