Looks like Reid has grown a pair. He is bringing down a defense budget which will be tied to a repeal of don't ask don't tell. It is about time we find out who supports the troops and who supports Homophobia.

he Washington Blade has learned that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) intends to schedule a vote next week on major defense budget legislation that contains “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal language, regardless of any objection from members of the U.S. Senate.

A senior Democratic leadership aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Reid met with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Monday to inform the Republican leader that the fiscal year 2011 defense authorization bill will come to the Senate floor the week of Sept. 20.

The aide said Senate leadership is anticipating the Senate won’t have unanimous consent to bring the legislation to the floor, so 60 votes will be necessary to end a filibuster and move forward with debate on the bill.

I don't think this is a very important issue to the vast majority of voters this election season. Jobs, jobs, jobs.

Got it Republicans only run on hate when the Economy is doing good. Equality will always be important.

No, it's just not that important to be brought up a month and a half before the mid-term elections. Reid's doing it for pure politics, and nothing else. They've had almost 2 years to deal with this issue, and Reid is picking now to move on it. His motives are completely transparent. And everyone can see it.

Not to mention...

Few would have predicted that Republicans would be the ones advocating to overturn "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," while Democrats cowered

We will see how many Republicans come to the vote Shady. We will see in two weeks who supports the troops and who supports Homophobia. What do you think Shady how do you think the Parties spilt on this one? Republicans had 8 years to deal with it, they didn't in fact they ran counter to Obama so don't give me this 2 years bullshit. Your team is still on the wrong side of this issue and we will see when the vote comes down.

You re-writing history again? Republicans controlled congress from 2002 - 2006. How is that 8 years?

Personally, I couldn't care less about this issue. I think homosexuals should be able to serve in the military. But right now, that's not high on the priority list of likely voters. It's jobs, jobs, jobs.

You think if the Dems passed this Bill under Bush he would have signed it Shady? Really maybe he should have said something so Reid could have passed it then. We will see where the Republicans Stand on this one in two weeks my gut tells it stands with Hate.

Gays need Jobs to Shady and right now there is one job they are not allowed to do. I know you ment Jobs for straight white males but Homosexuals also need jobs.

It's the economy stupid.

It's the economy stupid.

You think it is the economies fault that gays aren't allowed to compete for jobs in roughly 6% of the American economy? That is stupid it is a dumb laws fault. Don't worry Democrats will fix that unless republicans get in the way.

Good. They should fix it. It was a Democrat policy in the first place!

Got it good things in the 90s was all Republicans and Newt and all the bad things were Dems and Bills fault. You had your chance to fix it, you were too busy trying to make sure gays didn't marry to worry about who could fight or not. Don't worry they will fix it.

Too funny....I don't think he realizes that yet:

In Congress, Democratic Senator Sam Nunn of Georgia led the contingent that favored maintaining the absolute ban on gays. Reformers were led by Democratic Congressman Barney Frank of Massachusetts, who favored modification (but ultimately voted for the defense authorization bill with the gay ban language), and retired Republican Senator Barry Goldwater, who argued on behalf of full repeal. After Congressional phone lines were flooded by organized anti-gay opposition, President Clinton backed off on his campaign promise to repeal the ban in favor of the DADT "compromise."

What did Bush do again?

He kept his pants on in the Oval Office.

Yep and ran two campaigns fueled on hate for Homosexuals. I think we will see how Republicans vote. You can preach to me when they vote the right way.

Well, at least you're done denying that DADT was a Democrat policy.

I don't care how they vote...just fun to see you twist in the historical wind. Unlike you, I have actually served with "gays in the military". LOL!
