Rue Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) Who ever was beyond this idiotic act shows; 1-they have no idea how to express themselves in a rational manner; 2-forced anyone they wanted to listen to their message to ignore it; 3-engaged in a meaningless act that will shift the focus away from their actual message to simply the stupidity of their act; 4-will provide an excuse for people to engage in negative stereotypes of native people and make it harder for native peopleto bring attention to their issues. The above act luckily killed no one. It is nothing more then a child having a tantrum only the next time we may not beso lucky. These actions reflect only the actions of the idiots who engaged in them and no one else. Edited May 19, 2010 by Rue Quote
M.Dancer Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) There are about 50-60 RBC locations in Toronto. There are about 80-85 Emergency Task Force members trained in sharpshooting. Shady Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 Nice Shady. Real nice. I hope you can prove that!! . “This hasn’t stopped the government from assuming full ownership of the land and its resources for the benefit of its corporate masters and to the detriment of aboriginal peoples, workers and the poor of the province,” Yep. Sounds like conservatives to me. You should have just called them terrorists, that is what they are. They are terrorists. Leftist terrorists. Quote
ToadBrother Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 They are terrorists. Leftist terrorists. I have a hard time calling anarchists "leftists". They really are a political ideology all their own. It's like calling Libertarians conservatives. There might be some areas where they touch, but they really are two different balls of wax. Quote
Shady Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 I have a hard time calling anarchists "leftists". Of course you do. Because you're also a leftist. They really are a political ideology all their own. No, not really. Their ideology is a leftist ideology. M.Dancer Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 Of course you do. Because you're also a leftist. No, not really. Their ideology is a leftist ideology. ToadBrother Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 Of course you do. Because you're also a leftist. I am? That would come as something of a shock to me, seeing as I voted for Reform every single time they ran a candidate in my riding, up until the point when a religious nutjob was foisted on my riding. Oh, I get it. You think because I'm critical of the current government and its leader, the only possible explanation is that I'm a left-winger. No, not really. Their ideology is a leftist ideology. "This hasn’t stopped the government from assuming full ownership of the land and its resources for the benefit of its corporate masters and to the detriment of aboriginal peoples, workers and the poor of the province,” What is this supposed to prove exactly? I mean, by that logic, I'm sure I could prove Harper is a Nazi. Quote
ToadBrother Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 Anarchists are to the left...but they are not leftist. They were hunted in the USSR.... Like I said, it's like calling Libertarians conservatives. As with all things, there will be intersections, but considering that anarchists are generally opposed to government, in key respects they are diametrically opposed to socialists and most people on the left. Shady Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 but considering that anarchists are generally opposed to government, in key respects they are diametrically opposed to socialists and most people on the left. Yes, but in this case, these self-described anarchists are really just mixed up socialists. If you examine their ideology, which I've posted several times now, you'd notice the resemblance. Quote
ToadBrother Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 (edited) Yes, but in this case, these self-described anarchists are really just mixed up socialists. I suspect you're probably wrong. Socialists and anarchists have been at each others' throats for well over a century. They are not the same thing. If you examine their ideology, which I've posted several times now, you'd notice the resemblance. You've posted a few sentences. That hardly constitutes an ideology. You still have to explain to me how I'm a lefist. Edited May 19, 2010 by ToadBrother Quote
Shady Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 You've posted a few sentences. That hardly constitutes an ideology. Fine. Just acknowledge the few sentences. The sentences that came specifically from the pseudo-anarchists. It's right out of the NDP handbook. Quote
ToadBrother Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 Fine. Just acknowledge the few sentences. The sentences that came specifically from the pseudo-anarchists. It's right out of the NDP handbook. So what? The NDP hasn't ever advocated bombing banks. This pathetic attempt at guilt by association is only convincing me more and more that you are one dishonest fellow. Quote
bjre Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 Story from the Ottawa Sun Anarchists claim they firebombed bank By Kenneth Jackson, Ottawa Sun It seems that cops are only good at catch single mothers and grab kids requested by CAS. They are really not good at dealing with real crimes. Argus Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 I suspect, actually, that we are looking at people who, if they vote at all, vote NDP. Not that I'm suggesting the NDP is in any way associated with this nonsense. I've been in that bank. And let me explain to you where I'm coming from. There is nothing at all special about it. It's not an impressive place in size or beauty. It's a bland little box of no distinction. There's no reason whatever to select IT for the target. In fact, there are far more impressive banks to hit, and also far easier banks to hit, banks not on a brightly lit main street with only a sidewalk seperating their front door from the road. So why in the hell would anyone choose THAT location?? It is located in the centre of the Glebe. The Glebe is granola cruncher central in Ottawa. You're talking about an area which probably votes about 35% Liberal and 65% NDP in most any election. If you consider yourself "progressive" and you have any money, you'll strive to move to the Glebe and be extraordinarily proud of yourself if you live there. Given what a dumb choice it is for a target I think it was chosen simply because the idiots who did it have a strong connection with the Glebe, either living there or having lived here. And I think that's why they'll be caught fairly easily. The driver-passenger relationship represents an essential hierarchical relationship which must be broken down through long co-operative discussion and decision-making. Once all the occupants of the taxi are on equal terms, and those external to the taxi are aware and comfortable with their freedom to associate or disassociate with those within the taxi, discussions of possible destinations can begin in earnest. ... kimmy Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 I have a hard time calling anarchists "leftists". They really are a political ideology all their own. Who actually says that this attack was committed by "anarchists"? The headline says "anarchists", but what are they basing that on? All I have been able to find out is that the group is called "FFFC Ottawa". Nothing more. Unless information is being withheld from us, all we have to go by is the group's own statement. Their statement discusses -"stolen" native land -homelessness in Vancouver -lack of social housing in Vancouver -tar-sands development Do "anarchists" really care about social housing? To me this group sounds like militant leftists, not anarchists. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

ToadBrother Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Yes in so much they believe all property is theft. They also belive work is enslavement..but most are just punks and nihilists That tends to describe all but a rather core group of anarchists. I still don't see how you can meaningfully call them socialists, since they reject pretty much all the organs of state that even militant socialists, or rather especially militant socialists, believe necessary to enact an appropriate socialist agenda. Like I said, anarchists are to the Left as Libertarians are to the Right. They are both ideologies that stretch the very definitions of the Left-Right political spectrum. Quote
Oleg Bach Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Intelligence knows who these so-called anarchists are - pick em up and jail them - but they won't because they are allowed to operate - in order to garner support for the big shots..attending the conference...If they were real anarchists they would let the big dogs destroy each other and not slow the process down with their violent protest - The anarchists are so stupid they feed evil with evil making it stronger. They also belive work is enslavement..but most are just punks and nihilists I have a hard time seeing how support for native land claims jives with anarchist philosophy (the anarchist position would be that the natives don't have a right to the land, and the government has no right to give it to them, yes?) And somebody who believes the government should build housing for poor-people is-- by definition-- not an anarchist. Not by any meaningful definition of the word, at least. If we're now using "anarchist" to refer to any old hooligans, then you and I might be anarchists, Morris! If the label has been put on this group as an attempt to characterize their politics, it's obviously inaccurate. If the label has been put on this group as a synonym for "thugs" or "morons who just want to wreck stuff", then that's pathetic. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
