You're reduced to nothing at this point, I see. No spine for a good fight.

I have come down to your level in the interest of sub-species communication....a major breakthrough and the subject of my next paper.

I do believe that freedom of speech in this country is myth. The very fact that the Nationalist Party of Canada cannot gain ground on the political scale should say it all.Its not that they cannot say as the wish but they cannot stand up and be a recognized party BECAUSE they say what their ideals are.

Exactly....as it is mostly like a not so remote outpost of American discourse, parroted by Canadians instead. I mean, c'mon, Sarah Palin is still gobbling up bandwidth here long after her rise and fall from grace as a viable national candidate in another nation. Is there no Canadian "Sarah Palin", or "Noam Chomsky", or "Barack Obama", or name any other low hanging American fruit strangely but consistently used to illustrate issues affecting Canadians. Is there far less veracity if the "south" is not invoked?

This is a very good point even though there is a confusion of cause and effect.

One could easily ask, does America have another "Sarah Palin" or "Noam Chomsky" or "Barack Obama" to which she can refer? I highly doubt that the unique circumstances of these persons have given rise to such shining examples that are national enough to gain a wide view. Canada - like NY, California, Florida, etc. have regional examples that could likely be cited, but this is a public forum, not a research paper. I mean, Helena Guergis has been discussed here. I am sure Marcel Danesi will come up one day. And, of course, we have been electing minorties to Prime Minister for well over a century now.

So I doubt that using a current and high profile examples to illustrate a common notion that exists in both countries, vilifies any culture - American or Canadian - as lacking nor does it indicate a general condition of that culture anymore than the national Belgian conciousness is influenced by national French or Dutch TV/popular press. There is an exchange of ideas, for sure, but nothing that indicates a lacking.

Is anybody saying the "National Party of Canada" can not say what their ideals are?

I suspect that the only thing preventing them from explaining their views is that nobody would vote for them if they made their views known.

Kimmy, don't confuse the old National Party of Canada, and Mel Hurtig, with the Nationalist Party of Canada. The Nationalist Party is a Fascist, white supremecist party.I do think they should be able to run in elctions, however. The only reason for this would be to expose these bigoted fools for what they are!

Here's some of the deep thoughts from this extreme right wing kook outfit...

I've heard of Don Andrews. He's been in the news here and there. Is this a real party?

I'm a right winger but these guys are too much for me. "Zionist Occupational Governments"? I don't see these guys as being right wingers but out and out racists. Nothing to do with the right wing that I know.

This has to be a joke site or something...lol.

Nope...Totally legit, assuming NAZIesque thought processes are considered legit.Say what you want about extreme fascist ideology, but it is an ethos.

In fact, these are your ideological cousins on the conservative right as wacko communist murderers are the ideological cousins of the socially democratic left.

The question of whether they are legit or not is'nt relevent because they are.The question is whether or not they should be allowed to say these things.I say they should. Not because I agree with this insanity, but, because it would expose them to the light of scrutiny. Most sane people would run away from this extreme view of things as fast as they can...

I told the Supreme Court that the junior judges had lied..that members of the bar had lied...then I FINALLY found the document that all had hidden for five years...but it was over....I caught the whole system protecting their own with lies....and then they hire a high priced OTTAWA law firm to re-spin the story..and twist it into a reverse situation...all the free speech in the world could not help when they have the final word..forget free and true speech...the privledged only hear what they want and only deseminate into the pubic arena what profits and sustains them...................................YOU CAN TAlk aLL YOU WANT.. BUT YOU Are not free..in the end only this privledged class if free and prosperous in their oppression...THE MORE YOU TELL THEM..THE STRONGER THEY GET........................................BETTER TO SHUT UP.

Yeah I agree with you Jack. They should be allowed to say whatever they want but they have to be responsible for their words at the same time. meaning that whichever politician says these things in public will have to live with the consequences, basically their political career is over before it began.

Absolutely...These cowards are usually easy to pick off in the open...Watch for the 10 dollar euphemisms like European Heritage.I still would like them to be able to say whatever they want.I'd love to see a candidate for the Nationalist(another euphemism for fascist) Party at an all candidates meeting...They would be laughed off the stage!!!It's always best to get this stuff out in the open where it can be debunked, and the participants completely humiliated!

Unfortunately, there seems to be a cadre of simpering bedwetters on the wacko left in this country who simply are too weak to hear the ugly side of free speech. They are so intellectually bereft that they have no idea how to use their brains and debunk wacko's like the Nationalist Party. They would rather hide behind legislation to shut them up...

It's worse than that. They actually think legislation can shut them up. Unless you're prepared to get medieval on their buttocks like China or the USSR did, these hate laws do nothing to stop racism, but do give it that extra glamor of being an oppressed ideology.

And even going medieval on certain kinds of speech rarely kills it. It drives it underground to be sure, but it doesn't stop it.

Legislating speech is both futile and anti-liberties.

The oppression angle is indirect. It's played up by these groups to give it legitimacy in the face of the "heavy handed" nature of government. The extreme left in this country simply thinks that if it's legislated out of sight that it is out of mind...Completely untrue!

I agree with you on the anti-racism laws and hate speech laws.It smacks of thougth control, which is impossible. If someone gets beaten up,the reason is completely irrelevent. It's an assault and should be prosecuted as asuch. It does'nt matter if the victim was of a visible minority or gay. It's the reason why I think these HRC's are so dangerous.

Well, that and the fact that HRCs are used to harass comedians who mock drunk heckling lesbians...

You've got to be kidding me...:rolleyes:

Lemme get this straight...One goes to see a comedian, and is offended that someone is getting made fun of,or even mocked...Don Rickles can't perform much longer in this environment!...

My advice to these women is that they tough up and laugh at themselves...A little self-deprication can go along way!And if you start picking on the comedian, prepare to get it fired back at you!

Is comedy going to have to be sanitized so these bedwetters can get their socialogically correct running gag reel?

Yeah I head them talking about this on the radio in the car yesterday. They had an interview with the guy 15-20 mins after he walked out of the hearing. It was 1010 or 640AM one of those. I couldn't believe it when I heard it. Poltiical corectness is going too far in our society. Outrageous!
