bloodyminded Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 I like the poor fine but I have no sympathy for them. I turned my life around and within 10 years I went from living on the street to living in a nice area owning my own home. So with hard work it can be done. These people have no excuses, if they spent less time with OCAP and more time bettering themselves they wouldn't be poor any longer. They need to transfer some of that negative energy into something useful. That's my problem with the poor. They wait for handouts instead of making their situation better. No. Your "problem" with the poor is that you wouldn't associate with them (as you said) and that they are scum to wipe off your shoe (as you said). If that's "lik[ing] the poor fine," I wonder how you feel about people you don't like. Quote As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand. --Josh Billings

If that's "lik[ing] the poor fine," I wonder how you feel about people you don't like. Why should I waste energy on people who refuse to help themselves? Why should you? I have nothing in common with people who have no desire to do anything with their lives except sit around in roach infested homes and wait for their monthly cheque. IF they're content to be a drag on society I'm not going to support that and I don't seeany reason why I should. Mr.Canada Posted March 4, 2010 Author Report Posted March 4, 2010 (edited) Compassion is Wisdom. Lack of compassion is ignorance...and immoral. I see. So if I don't support people sitting around waiting for their welfare cheques, I'm immoral. Glad we got that cleared up. The sense of entitlement of the socialists/communists is astounding. You are saying that all poor people are lazy, good for nothing people who do nothing but wait for a handout. And you call other people elitist. That is too funny. Quote

On the whole though, I don't believe laziness is a major cause of poverty. I agree. Further, there are "lazy poor" in which cause-and-effect go the other way 'round, as poverty can grind some people into apathetic submission. Personally, I feel a lot of compassion for this type. Christians generally don't...which is ironic, since I probably inherited this feeling, at least in part, from Christianity. You've just topped your self M.C. But I don't appreciate your blanket bigotry of the poor. As a person with two disabilities living on a pension, I guess I fit into your category. I am considered poor by any standard. I shouldn't take your immaturity and stupidity personally as you're obviously very young and haven't experienced tolerance in your life yet. Here's a hint: try empathizing with those less fortutnate. Volunteer at a soup kitchen or something. Imagine walking a mile in someone else's moccosians. Edited March 4, 2010 by scorpio Quote
Guest TrueMetis Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Yes to you it would seem very strange. I own a house, a car, raise my own children, all from the same mother whom I'm still married to and live with. I get up in the morning and work for my own money (I work from home and don't neeed to go to the office everyday) no waiting for my monthly cheque, I pay my taxes, have a great sense of civic responsibility and work actively in my community to make it a better place. I don't fit into that catagory nor do a fit into the catagory of those who are "waiting for [their] monthly cheque. (Though my family owes a lot to those services) But it's not that stuff that makes you normal or weird it who you are that makes you weird and you aren't just weird you bigoted to. Quote
Mr.Canada Posted March 5, 2010 Author Report Posted March 5, 2010 (edited) Thank you Steve. I don't know if Canada should call you Mr. Prime Minister or Papa Harper. You have taught us so much in the short time you've been PM. Canada has come so far in such a little time and ll this without having a majority. I don't think Chretien and his band of Liberals accomplished as much as you've managed to in the 13 years they were in power most of those in a majority situation. Parlaiments from now on will be thinking about how you handled things. They'll be saying things like " that Harper, he was a master strategist, what would he have done?". They'll be praying to God thanking Him that he sent you to guide us during these troubled times. The foxes have been about but you've kept the hen house well guarded PM Harper. Protecting Canada from its enemies within and without. We also need to thank you for giving us that shot in the arm we needed. We're awake Mr. Prime Minister, Canada is listening... Mr.Canada Posted March 5, 2010 Author Report Posted March 5, 2010 His "Patraphelia" is showing again.... Just honesty. I like to give our PM support because it would seem 60-70% of this board is of the socialist variety. Many people here support Layton and Mayor Miller who think every Tory budget is bad no matter what's in it.
