Funny. Let's see, the space shuttle for example, has three more flights left before it is retired. It's flown 135 missions. Been flying since around 1980. We have landed on the moon, and walked around 6 times, 40 years ago. No one has done it since. But we're 'hicks'. Thanks for playing. Edited February 27, 2010 by fanofavs Quote

Was not calling you a hick- I was calling the duped Canadian soldiers that America requested for Iraq and then Afghanistan..we did not supply hicks to die in Iraq but we did send them on your behalf to the other rock pile. The moon thing was not impressive. It would have been more impressive if you had gotten the Israelis to behave them selves and taught them to make friends with their enemies--but you are not very good at that - so go to the moon..and that flying brick you call the space shuttle...it comes apart and burns the crew on occassion..or blows up at take foo..not bad...you get few good flights in..and wtf are you doing using styrofoam to coat the fuel tanks..and those bathroom tiles for a heat sheild--nope..it's a crude machine..and what about fixing up things like Haiti..now that would be more of a miracle compared to a moon landing. bush_cheney2004 Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 The moon thing was not impressive.... Correct...it was much more than just impressive...it was an in-your-face-we-can-do-it-and-you-can't kind of impressive. So much so, that Canadian engineers packed up their slide rules and left your half-assed, underfunded programs (e.g. Avro Arrow) for the US of A. And they are still doing it. YOU had to bring up the Avro Arrow..you just could not resist rubbing that blunder in our faces..imagine if we kept going with our military and took it to it's full potential--why we would be ruling the now stone age Iraq and we would have planes flying into the43 CN tower---thanks BC for taking the load off our shoulders. Kind of reminds me of the dad that did not want to spank the kids because he did not want to be hated..well I never spanked mine and you Amercans spanked the whole world-- like I said- power through deception anf violence-- your metal is in the mail. No, Oleg has some years behind him and is also an old soul. His take on things reminds me of a famous poster known as Billybob9, but with a theatrical tint. Oleg Bach Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Did you feel that way in 1969 ? YAH - I was 19 and more impressed with the little round Russian Sputnic orbit...I was a little boy and looked up in the sky knowing that man had left the planet and nothing had flew that high ever before---after that the whole space thing lost it's charm- we left the bounds of earth and proved a point- I did not see any reason for going further- eventually all of you will find distant space flight impossible and useless--the Hubble telescope..now that is a high distant flyer and no one needs to go for the ride..flight is neat...but flight no where without real purpose is dumb. Oleg Bach Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 "That's one small step for (a) man, a giant leap for mankind...except for bleeding hearts in Canada" - Neil Armstrong OKAy OKAY...it was remarkable that they could get that tin can with the bad wiring all the way to the moon--but to get the thing to take off and escape the moon was more fabulous--it was not the technology but the bravery and resourefulness of the human being- men that were willing to die to achieve the highest goals--the flyers were impressive..the tin can was really taking a chance. Oleg Bach Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 What a useless and bizarre post. Yes it was very entertaining for me to write..the point was it was impressive to witness the first orbit of a machine sent up by man--kind of like your first time getting laid..after that the thrill was not that impressive...oh- you are not the first to address me as bizarre and I hope not the lost..I take great pride in my useless bizzarness. Don't go changing, to try and please me, You never let me down before, Don't imagine, you're too familiar, And I don't see you anymore. I would not leave you, in times of trouble, We never could have come this far, I took the good times, I'll take the bad times, I'll take you just the way you are. Don't go trying, some new fashion, Don't change the colour of your hair, You always have my, unspoken passion, Although I might not seem to care. I don't want clever, conversation, I never want to work that hard, I just want someone, that I can talk to, I want you just the way you are. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Oleg Bach Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Thanks BC-you almost brought a tear to my one good eye without the patch. To take the time send a bit love is very kind...I knew you were not the ugly merican you pretend to be...time for bed...am at another location-- the eldest daughter is making her first trip to Ottawa..looks like a lobbyist is about to be born--in the mean time I have to eat her out of house and home and walk the dogs in the morning- hope the family is well- and again thanks..the kid hates the fact that her dad is a bit nuts--she never invites me to those important functions...and she might be changing her name soon..oh well. Guest American Woman Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Canadian wannabes Huh? I have never heard of such a creature. I've heard the term, just as I've heard of American wannabes. I think Canadian wannabes may have emerged during the Bush administration as many claimed they would leave if Bush were re-elected, and I know I had a hard time facing another four years of the same. Some actually did leave for Canada, but I'm not sure they ended up finding that 'the grass was greener on the other side of the fence.' The U.S. is really a diverse nation, and the northern U.S. is, as a whole, more liberal than the conservative, more religious South. I would go so far as to say the North is actually more like Canada than like the South; there are more similarities politically. My family has always lived in liberal states, so where one lives in the U.S. makes a difference. I'm sure it's the same in Canada. But the way I see it, both nations have their good points and their bad. While I think the U.S. is too conservative in some areas, I think Canada can be too liberal. Citizens of both nations, however, should count their blessings, and be thankful they live where they do. Quote
Oleg Bach Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 As individuals Canadian and American people are wonderful and more than willing to get along--both as a collective with faulty leadership and poor government are in trouble..it will take good private people to right the public mess. M.Dancer Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 And how often do we mention that we have had 11 black Lt. Governors, the first as far back as 1868? A Lt.
