want to really level the playing field...Proportional Representation...conservatives want nothing to do with that...

This entire article is bullshit. How do I know? It comes from the national post. Just another desperate attempt to mislead. Well, look what Liberal leadership candidates did! Just to throw people off the trail that the Conservative party spent at least 1.5 million over the national cap.

The National Post can run articles all they want assuming that these loans taken out by Liberals won't be repaid. I guess they ignore all the fundraisers these guys have run since the leadership. A lot of my friends from university have Liberal connections and it seems they had fundraisers somewhere in Yorkville every week to pay off old debt.

Yup, though their antics apparently may be close to an end. The scuttlebutt is that there's a consortium of 3 gentleman wanting to buy the paper as it's for sale. All ties to the Liberal Party even though I hope it doesn't become a rag completely devoted to touting the line of one party. That's its problem right now.

At least we may see the end of Conrad Black's dull exposes, and of course never-ending defenses of him from guys like George Jonas.

Yup! I just find it ironic and telling that the defender of conservative values went bankrupt to begin with. Having people with Liberal ties buy it is the icing on the cake. As Bart Simpson would say, "oh the ironing!"

Nor do most people. Most people like local representation.

We have had this discussion before, the short comings of PR are disproportionate to the benefits, which mainly benefit the unelected representative picked to sit...

it add a tiny bit of balance if was sold to liberal backers...as it is now we have a chain of conservative propaganda rags and tv stations across the country controled by one conservative owner...

unlike the short comings of this system where people live their entire lives without their views being represented in government...

Whether your "views" are represented or not depends on whether there are a plurality of like minded voters in your riding who share your views. If you are the only one in Canada who holds that view, you are still out of luck.... And really, that is somewhat irrelevant.

More importantly whether your prefered candidate is elected or not, your are represented and you can still represent your views to your member.

If in fact the National Post is desperately Conservative - it doesn't come close to offsetting the laughable (sickening actually) Liberal sycophants at The Star......and The Star has a broader reach than the National Post.

LOL What a joke this place is, the NP is the only paper that is not afraid to report against any party , not like the toronto star. But as I thought the left just dismisses this, and nicky or whatever you call your self, thanks for showing how blind to liberal BS. The liberal have ruined our institutions, they need to be all taken apart and rebuilt. Using the RCMP to terrorize canadian citizens ,the post office to move money around, and all those brown envelopes changing hands and all you can come up with ,''it's not true'' well it is there in black and white, one standard for the left and one for the right. I think I will stick around this site and re-educate a few of you.

Oh good, perhaps you can start by going over to that other thread where you were so patiently explaining how Parliament works and answer my question about whether Parliament is supreme or not, and whether Parliament has the unrestricted right to demand any and all documents, without modification or redaction, from the Government.

Come on, I soooo want to be educated by you.

Because that is a dumb question? The PM does what he wants ,ever since trudeau took over and change the whole landscape of the country and the rules. Why the fake anger?

I agree to a point which is why I read the Globe. However, The Star went after Sponsorship as hard as any other paper. Has the NP ever written a negative article about the CPC? That's a serious question.

Yes they have ,and I forgot about the globe,it is not bad and trying be equal, even the sun has been getting a little better ,if you can find a story mixed in with all the ads, but the toronto star is a true liberal rag.

AHahahahaha. Just because it's been published in a paper makes it true. Yet, if the Star can be biased why can't the NP be? The only thing that's black and white is that the article you posted came from the OPINION section of the most right leaning bankrupt rag in this country.

How did the Liberals destroy institutions? When did they terrorize citizens using the RCMP? I believe the people handing over the brown envelopes were put in prison. Last time I checked, the Liberals never suspended parliament to avoid a confidence motion, so keep trying.

You better do some research before you laugh it off, chretien and the banker,is well known, over the golf course and some low level libs have been charged over all the scandals,a very little of the money has been recovered. Why did chretien shut down the inquiry on somalia.

I'm gathering this is the last gasp talking point. "Look at how bad the Liberals were! Can't we be that bad, at least?"

You have yet to answer my questions. Some folks seem to want to lay bets that you won't. I'm inclined not to take that bet, because I don't think you will either.

You must be talking about us classic liberals...

Of course they were charged. They were also put in prison. Something which I said but you ignored because it doesn't fit your narrative that I'm some partisan knob that can't admit wrong doing of the people you put me with.

I'm talking about institutionally. What did they destroy?

Though I don't blame you I can't say I'm not disappointed. Never was there such a surefire way of making money for nothing.
