A US judge dismissed charges that Blackwater security killed 17 Iraqis and the Iraqis people and government are too happy about it.

They are "too happy"? Well, just how happy would you allow them to be?

Bush and Cheney wanted hired killers and that's what they got! Blackwater has changed it name to Xe and they trained more than 40,000 guys yearly and they get most of the jobs from the US government. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8437092.stm

Blackwater was first hired as a US government vendor (for State Department) during the Clinton administration.

At least this is good news:

Were the incident to happen again today, the legal outcome might be much different. The U.S.-Iraqi security pact that took effect Jan. 1, 2009, lifted the immunity that foreign contractors had in Iraq. link

I think Topaz intended to write "aren't too happy..."

Apparently the Iraqi government has issued a public statement expressing strong dissatisfaction with the ruling. I don't know the intricate details of the case, so I can't comment strongly on this decision. I imagine it's the right decision, though (based on the little that I do know about this story).

The whole situation is bullcrap. These murderers are guilty. Why was the case thrown out?...

The judge, Ricardo M. Urbina of the District's federal court, found that prosecutors and agents had improperly used statements that the guards provided to the State Department in the hours and days after the shooting. The statements had been given with the understanding that they would not be used against the guards in court, the judge found, and federal prosecutors should not have used them to help guide their investigation. Urbina said other Justice Department lawyers had warned the prosecutors to tread carefully around the incriminating statements.

Washington Post

So the case was thrown out because when these Blackwater mercs gave their info to the State Department, it was under the condition that what they said, ie: THE TRUTH, couldn't be used against them in court. As also mentioned, foreign contractors had immunity from Iraqi law at the time, therefore the Iraq gov't can't charge them so it was up to the U.S. to prosecute them. How convenient that these 5 murderers get off free as a bird. Shocking! <_<

Because that's the law....you are not the arbiter of guilt or innocence. A judge is.

Yes...just like the Somalia Affair....how many were convicted and served time?

Hillary and Bill are very attracted to power of any kind. Be it the clandestine use of mercenary units that are private or by any supposed governmental legit deadly force units. A few years ago a young former intelligence officer revealed that "contractors" would plant car bombs in different area of Iraq killing local civilians in order to have the Shites go for the throat of the Soonies and vise versa. The use of private for profit sabateures and provocateurs should be forbidden.

Precisely. But moonlight, like many people like to think they have reviewed all the details and facts of a case personally and should pronounce judgment.

I find it interesting that a Bush and Cheney supporter is now suddenly so interested in the rule of law.

In my eyes they are, and so is OJ. But i wouldn't actually send either of them to jail without a fair trail.

The question is whether these Blackwater dopes get a fair trial.

Great....you have already convicted without a "fair trial", then say otherwise. Do you not understand how the process works?

The question is whether these Blackwater dopes get a fair trial.

The question has already been answered.....you lose.

If they don't bring these men back to trial, which is as likely as me farting bars of gold, then you lose since it's your justice system which has failed.

It's not factual that BC is a supporter of anyone. He's just a good citizen trying to survive in a cess pool. I am much the same way - one must pacify any crooks in power...if not you might have a problem - If this was old Germany I bet there would be a lot of Hitler supporters in Canada..much like old Italy that loved to change sides when the wind blew south taking all hope with it. I believe we are called survivors.

Justice systems never fail. They work exactly as designed.

Oh...so you don't know how it works. The justice "system" already had its shot, and rendered a decision. You lost....no impeachment for Bush either...better luck next time.

There may be no bussel of peaches for George and righfully so...but someone had better tell Cheney to shut up before he lands himself in the slammer..he sure is talking a lot these days. What's with that guy does he not know what low key is? Or did he get to use to being and entertainer and now has gotten the bug?

Yah you mentioned that before> Question...have your kids made fun of you yet for repeating yourself? Recently I met a British guy who is an American citizen working in Canada...he said that Cheney was a good guy....and I also met the actor who plays Rumsfelt in the stage play..we had a few drinks together - he also believes these two were and are good guys...could I be wrong about them? I mean about Cheney?

I'm certainly no law expert, but i do understand the case was thrown out. So unless different charges are laid, them boys got off.

Correct...you are no expert. U.S. District Judge Ricardo Urbina dismissed all charges because of government evidentiary rules violations regarding statements and a cooperating witness' plea bargain. Sorry, but even Blackwater perps get their day in court.

Separately, Blackwater and its founder, Erik Prince, have been sued in a US federal court by the victims of the shooting. link

....relatives have lodged civil charges against the five in the Virginian courts. link

The idea of Blackwater is absolutely vile from the get go. Who are these people? What is the quality of their mindset? To me it is clear that you might as well staff your "contractor" company with Hells Angels members...Just cover up the tats and give them a shave...These are hooligans that are santioned by the state... I believe that the Germans had these types of units and they were called the SS.

You aren't an expert either, you just regurgitated what was written in the news article.
