whowhere Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I just watched a documentary on the History channel about the Mayans 2012 prophecy. http://shop.history.com/detail.php?p=69793 According to this documentary kulkulkan (koo koo khan) was a caucasian with an elongated skull and penetrating blue eyes. Kulkulkan was the inspiration in creating the Mayan pyrimads. According to this documentary the mayan pyrimid is a calender. The mayans calender is intricately tied to astronomy. The earths rotations and the planetary orbits is what governs this calender. If for anything else their referencing of time deserves a serious look because it is highly scientific rather than some baseless arbitrary belief. Esentially in two thousand and twelve the sun will be perfectly aligned with the milky way. This only happens every 27000 years. Also this correlates with their doomsday of the world. Their doomsday is the world will be flooded and life will be wiped out. Before you dismiss this prophecy you have to look at the fact they created a calender which is intricately tied to the cosmos, they are predicted an astronomical event, and they are forcasting the world to be flooded. This could hold water because we know the oceans tides are influenced by the Moon. What if some planetary force like a moon is going to affect the worlds oceans when the sun aligns with the milky way and then......... we are engulfed by a 10 mile high tidle waves obliterating Canada off the face of the earth - Drowning mapleleafweb posters like swamp rats. As for this kulkulkan, he is said to have established the pyramids and rituals and disappeared into the sea to never be seen or heard again. Perhaps Jesus and kulkulkan are hanging out? Canada may have to be proactive and start to build a wall to keep the flood waters out or at least direct the waters to parts of Canada we could do without such as Southern Ontario for starters. Riverwind Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 This alignment is really nothing more than an eclipse where the sun is blocking the earth's view of the center of the galaxy. There is no reason to believe this eclipse will be any more eventful than the solar or lunar type. Quote To fly a plane, you need both a left wing and a right wing.

Peter F Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 Esentially in two thousand and twelve the sun will be perfectly aligned with the milky way. This only happens every 27000 years. Actually, the sun is always perfectly aligned with the milky way. What if some planetary force like a moon is going to affect the worlds oceans when the sun aligns with the milky way and then......... Odd, don't you think, that the milky way had little gravitational effect all these years, but in 2012 it suddenly will. Was the gravity turned off? William Ashley Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 (edited) Actually, the sun is always perfectly aligned with the milky way. Odd, don't you think, that the milky way had little gravitational effect all these years, but in 2012 it suddenly will. Was the gravity turned off? Even when another mass is between the sun and the galactic center?????? I think your perfect alignment is a little hooey. I think that all them stars that are moving and exploding may differ slightly in your analysis. In essence what this means is that we have gone around the galactic center, providing it also doesn't rotate. but this is a very difficult question to answer.. because there are more than one black holes in the universe.. and there were multiple so said origins from the big bangs theory. There is seemingly a constant change of energy.. but what isn't accounted for is movement of other celestial bodies including ones we cannot see or measure by scientific devices that exist currently. It is a big thing like really big... this will feel more like a lunar eclipse from mars than a eclipse of the galactic core. What type of energy does the galactic core emit? What will the effects of earth not having direct access to it in terms of spacial transferance -- afterall ther is only as much space as there is energy exchanges. The effect of a huge mass like the sun breaking a gravitational link could be substantial if the mass of the center of the universe is substantial (but are we moving closer or away from the core) if closer then one could assume the mass and attracting forces are substantial, and that they would have some type of effect on the earth, although the general field of gravitational force (which some say is in a partical in the newest atomic models) would be substantial especially if there is some type of wave ongoing... I geuss it is a question of whether you wanna live that scifi fantasy or cybertec reality. Personally I'm way past ready to retire to a life in nature. Freaken scientists. why can't god just provide for us and we be happy. bear in mind in science we are a particle on a curved wave traveling in position on the wave - where is the center of the wave - what would the core be.. the begining or the end. It is all nonsense choose your own advernture anyway at that level. Fact is reality continues or it is redundant - you can't plan for what you arn't aware of. You can't discover what you arn't let uncover. Where do I need to stand to be in the center? ON the top of cheops or in the tomb? Who cares about the floods what are we going to do with the mummies? whowhere Posted January 1, 2010 Author Report Posted January 1, 2010 If this event happens every 27000 thousand years perhaps the story of Noahs arc has its root in this cosmic event. The people of that day didn't have the luxury of science as we know it so they attributed it to an act of God. Perhaps the scientist are missing something that could effect the Ocean tides and create multiple tsunamis which would engulf the world on masse. When this alignment happens maybe something acutely natural is going to occur along the lines of an earthquake, a hurricane, whatever. In this case create pandemic floods and obliterating life back to caveman status. It appears these mayans had a very intricate knowledge of astronomy, their language, religious ritual, and a means of documenting this until the fanatical christian spaniards wiped them out over a course of 50 years. What the christians did here was no different that what they did to the books written in the Roman times: they burned them. Can people win? On the one hand you have simpleton christians wanting to put the world back into darkness and control of their narrow views and we have natural events on the horizon looming to kick the world into an ice age or pandemic floods. Who is going to win? Nature or doomsday christians? This mayan calender and the time recording is extremely scientific and impressive for a civilization that existed before modern technology. The question is will modern technology pick up on this lurking cosmic mass that will inflict floods? We have until Dec 2012 to figure it out. If we can't the people have to decide which parts of Canada to save from the flood. This can only happen by routing it to choice locations. we should have a plan to divert the flood waters to drown out the rats. Perhaps we need to establish a clean slate and engulf these waters over vancouver, toronto, montreal, Ottawa, and all provicial and terretorial capitals to clean away the sludge of Canada. whowhere Posted January 1, 2010 Author Report Posted January 1, 2010 27000 years ago the world was in the middle of an ice age. Why are you showing data for greenland? In any case the flood waters kicked up by the sloshing ocean waters will splash into the volacanos triggering steam and volcanic ash into the atmosphere. The sun will have a tough time getting through this. This will trigger freezing of all this flood water and the world will be an ice rink. Except that the calendar embodies a set of dates that are associated with certain past events. It was central to their social life, which was full of ceremonies. But to project that onto our immediate future is the worst kind of pagan superstition. We shouldn't get too romantic about the Mayas. They were massively into suicide and human sacrifice. It seems like a very morbid culture, if you ask me. For all their masonry, and cities, they hadn't really gotten to literacy yet. Just numbers. To put it in perspective, they were probably at approximately the level of social development of the civilizations before Egypt. The Egyptian pyramids are far more sophisticated monuments, with their smooth, surface stone, and the larger size, and far more precise construction. Mayan pyramids are essentially an elevated altar, with stairways inside so the priests could appear and disappear from the altar without being seen. The point is this is magic thinking. Quote
whowhere Posted January 2, 2010 Author Report Posted January 2, 2010 What does that even mean? The sun is *in* the milky way. That's like saying that cheerio floating in your bowl is perfectly aligned with the milk. http://www.alignment2012.com/whatisGA.htm The Galactic Alignment is the alignment of the December solstice sun with the Galactic equator. This alignment occurs as a result of the precession of the equinoxes. Precession is caused by the earth wobbling very slowly on its axis and shifts the position of the equinoxes and solstices one degree every 71.5 years. Because the sun is one-half of a degree wide, it will take the December solstice sun 36 years to precess through the Galactic equator (see diagram below). The precise alignment of the solstice point (the precise center-point of the body of the sun as viewed from earth) with the Galactic equator was calculated to occur in 1998 (Jean Meeus, Mathematical Astronomy Morsels, 1997). Thus, the Galactic Alignment "zone" is 1998 +/- 18 years = 1980 - 2016. This is "era-2012." This Galactic Alignment occurs only once every 26,000 years, and was what the ancient Maya were pointing to with the 2012 end-date of their Long Count calendar. The Galactic equator: The precise mid-line running down the Milky Way. Analogous to the earth's equator, it divides the galaxy into two hemispheres, or lobes.
