Shwa Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) 'Witch' was wicked, police say Toronto woman accused of faking witchcraft, bilking veteran lawyer of more than $100,000 Here's the story from the Toronto Star today Almost everyone cheers when a lawyer gets it, but you have to wonder how an intelligent, highly educated man could be so easily duped: "My desire to make an easy buck clouded my judgment," Daley told Law Times. Oh, ok that makes more sense. Another interesting part of the story - other that the sidebar listing a few other archaic laws still on the books, is this quote: But the news of the arrest is bittersweet in the psychic community."It definitely puts a stain on our business. The outside world sees that and think that there are just bad readers out there," said Lisa Marvin, a psychic adviser and co-owner of Metaphysique in Yorkville. "People who go to readings are looking for guidance," she said. "They shouldn't be taken advantage of." Yes. Crystal balls, tarot readings, predictions from animal entrails or tea mush - yes. Greed - no. Gotta love TO, something for everyone in the Big Smoke. Edited December 10, 2009 by Shwa Quote

Would the outside world give up lawyers just because someone was caught posing as one? That would be preposterous. I doubt stories like this will ever put an end to superstition, but they'll always be good for a laugh. Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
M.Dancer Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 Witches need to spin this the other way. The police are laying a charge of merely posing as a witch. Witches need not be concerned at all as long as their practice is for parlour room entertainment and not for profit. If on the otherhand they seek financial reward then they open themselves to prosecution. The onus of course will be for the Crown to prove they are phoneys, which of course is a lot easier than the accused proving they have occult powers Would the outside world give up lawyers just because someone was caught posing as one? That would be preposterous. No but the public would demand that the charlaten be prosecuted strenuously for posing as on. I doubt stories like this will ever put an end to superstition, but they'll always be good for a laugh. True...quackery and medicine shows are still common...just visit any healthfood shop and ask a clerk for a supplement to deal with any ailment.... Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us

Oleg Bach Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 I have known a few very dyanamic and charismatic woman - who in my opinion were so- called witches. Uusally they are very destructive control freaks who are highly skilled liars - In order to give them power you must believe in them - A sorcerer needs a source of power - and that power would come from you if you are stupid enough to believe in them - witchcraft is simply highly refined crimminality...most never get caught and take great glee in causing as much mayhem and social harm as possible - This one particular witch that I know of likes to make drug runs into the USA....attempts to suck other woman in accompanying here - for a ride along reward of 500 bucks while she makes ten times that...this destructive bitch has the full support of charitable orgainzations - and some Christian relief orgainizations - in fact they grant this hag a full appartment...and free cash - You would assume that evil is not protected - apparently it is quite useful to the status quo and serves them well. Oleg Bach Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 When you have a female judge that supports another female in her courtroom by saying - "If she lied she must have had a good reason" _ then that is the begining of a caldron stirring relationship - I would safely call them a couple of witches ..You do not LIE in a court of law...apparently this haggish lady in her black robe thinks lieing is just fine...I don't...does that make me a bad person.. or a witch hunter? Ignore witches - male and female ones and don't believe they have power - they don't! Quote
DarkAngel_ Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 Ignore witches - male and female ones and don't believe they have power - they don't! unless they have a remote, then all is lost! they will watch 'charmed' tell we all die of estrogen poisoning!!! lol no, to be serious, we can do our most extremes in the evilest of actions, but good can border that line. take the I'sot christian community, very 'whosville-ish' and kind, but under the surface is lead by a drug peddling LSD addict with about $300,000 always steady in her bank account due to contributions of 'the faith.' not to mention they all live in tents and scorn they're young harshly, i should know i was one, i call that a cult. the difference between a priest and a witch is one is accepted by the majority... a good priest has faith and says what he believes with good intent, and a witch lie's to believe and gain much needed validity. in my opinion, allot of priests act like witches. (and sometimes the other way around) Quote men of freedom walk with guns in broad daylight, and as the weak are killed freedom becomes nothing but a dream...

(and sometimes the other way around) Nothing more stupid than a person that thinks being evil is being very smart, shrewd and clever - Yes it does empower for a short while but eventually the power goes into a state of collapse. I repeat one of the most important things I have learned about being human - and having real power - Is to embrace the postive doctrine and thought of knowing that EVIL = STUPIDITY. Stick to that premise and you will stop respecting and empowering stupid people - in high places who are not fit to rule. Quote

Oleg Bach Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Evil=Stupidity - If we are to have a witch trial there is nothing wrong with correcting and educating a witch...difference now is that we do not burn them or torment them - but we do confine people that harm other people though their supidity and greed - this used to be called correction - and a real correctional facility should be set up in Canada - these holding centers are not cutting it.
