Topaz
The Tories are talking majority government for them in the next election to the people they are talking to over the summer. Yes, again they are saying they don't want an election but they are preparing for one. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politi...article1258188/

Yes, again they are saying they don't want an election but they are preparing for one. What's wrong about that? If they smell one coming they'd be pretty stupid not to prepare for it! So would the other parties, for that matter. Just because you don't want it to rain doesn't mean you shouldn't fix the roof!
Bryan
Being prepared is a good thing.
Cuzzin E
If the alternative is an election every year, then give this clown his majority and let the other parties replace their useless leaders and try again in 4 years.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! IMO We've had enough of this clown. Time for him to move on to the private sector. imo

In fact, everything the conservatives have done has been with liberal support. Aside from personality differences, both are one the same side of most issues

Aside from personality differences, both are one the same side of most issues I could do with a little less of Harper's cutthroat personality ... A spoonful of sugar may be the only difference, but it would be welcome. Internationally, Harper makes people shocked and/or furious everywhere he goes! Yes, again they are saying they don't want an election but they are preparing for one. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politi...article1258188/ The difference this year compared to last is I actually believe them when they say they don't want an election, but they know full well one is coming as does anyone whith half a brain. This time around they stand to lose quite a bit of ground if they manage to hold on to their minority or they'll possibly end up in opposition, it's really too soon to tell. Either way of course they're talking majority, even though they're fairly certain they won't get it this time around either. You have to put your best foot forward, and you can't say your gunning for another minority, that would just be sad.

He has gained a lot of respect on the world stage......from the leaders of other countries. Our media are a little slow (biased) in giving him credit....but it's clear that on a leader-to-leader basis (Sarkosy, Merkel, Obama, etc.) he is well respected. The only embarrassment on the world stage has been the incessant whining of the Climate Change Alarmists but even those are starting to fade away as the years get colder and their zealotry starts to fall on deaf ears. If he can manage to take some of that statesmanship into Parliament on a more regular basis, he might even have a chance at a majority. daniel
He's always late for his favourite activity - photo ops He's plummetted Canada's environmental rating to being worse than the US. His government openly doesn't care about overseas Canadians in trouble and they stated it as well. Being in minority, he's given up all the values he's had when he was only a critic - is he in power just to be in power or does he have real values he wants to implement. All his predictions about the economy were wrong. And even before the recession, he's turned the budget surplus into a deficit. Mr.Canada
Harper has provided stable government something that Ottawa has lacked for a very long time. People like stability. Like it or not things were not stable under Chretien in his last years nor were they under Martin. People were sick of it and knew that Harper would provide the ytype of stable government he has...Bravo!
fellowtraveller
Internationally, Harper makes people shocked and/or furious everywhere he goes! You vastly overrate the interest of the world in Canada and their leaders. We, and Harper, pass almost completely unnoticed year after year. Twas always so.
