GostHacked Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 I don't have a problem with that....that's what America has always been...not some fantasy in other people's minds. Many millions agree, happy to have gone through the hole just to get there. There is a reason why there are 300,000,000 Americans from all around the world, and it's not just weather. Actually it is the political weather of the area in which the armed American's like to stir up trouble or try to resolve it. I mentioned in another thread or was it this one, that the mentality in the US is that if you are NOT getting screwed you feel left out. Such a sad state of affairs when that is the case. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Actually it is the political weather of the area in which the armed American's like to stir up trouble or try to resolve it. America is just being what it has always been....the nation was born by "stirring up trouble". Others love to enlist America's penchant for destruction and construction when it serves their own interests. I mentioned in another thread or was it this one, that the mentality in the US is that if you are NOT getting screwed you feel left out. Such a sad state of affairs when that is the case. Not sure I understand what you mean here....America is and always has been about very dynamic opportunity for success and failure. If you want to contrast this with just playing it safe in Canada that's fine, but we both know it is not that simple. If the world shall blame America for all its woes, then the world should ask itself how this came to be from a rag tag group of bastard colonists. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Shady Posted February 17, 2009 Author Report Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) Maybe more money should be thrown at education and healthcare, looks like those areas need it more than the military. America already spends more money per student than any other country in the world. What more do you want, gold-plated pencils? Money is not the problem with education. Structural problems lie with teacher's unions and democrats, who've consistently fought reforms to the system, which they've controlled for decades. Edited February 17, 2009 by Shady Quote

True.....if just throwing more money at the problem was the answer, wouldn't America have the "best" health care system in the world? Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Oleg Bach Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 True.....if just throwing more money at the problem was the answer, wouldn't America have the "best" health care system in the world? Wait - wait ---- wait! That's it! Take ten trillion dollars and bail out the failing American health care system....YAH! Why did I not think of that earlier----one problem - they are actually doing very very well and are running a very tight ship that is highly profitable - and serves.....................................NO ONE.. They are totally an American success. Quote
Shady Posted May 7, 2009 Author Report Posted May 7, 2009 Just a reminder, but Obama's still killing civilians in Afghanistan. Obama expresses regret for Afghan civilian deaths WASHINGTON – Flanked by the leaders of Afghanistan and Pakistan, President Barack Obama expressed deep U.S. regret Wednesday for civilian casualties in a deadly incident this week in western Afghanistan, promising "every effort" to avoid recurrences in the war against a rising Taliban insurgency.
