BC_chick Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Well done....but no apology required. Many Canadians know more about US government than some Americans do. But not all of them! Teeh hee hee, he said "3 levels of government" instead of "branches".... That was such an intellectually charged argument, I feel like I'm in kindergarten again. Btw, you do know to thank a Frenchman for your country's 3 levels branches of government, don't ya? Oh, but I must know that cause I'm a canuck! Who am I to get in the way of you reveling about your compatriots' ignorance about your country's government. Shady Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Teeh hee hee, he said "3 levels of government" instead of "branches".... Exactly. He's a moron. Not even Sarah Palin would make that kind of mistake. And no party controls the Supreme Court. One party or another may have more appointments at any given time, but they're not under control of any political party structure. And levels of government implies that one level may be more powerful or important than another, which is not the case. Each branch of government is equal to the other. If he's not aware of that, he really shouldn't be posting in this part of the forum. It's a pretty basic level of knowledge. Quote

bush_cheney2004 Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 I'm glad we all agree that Palin is barely qualified to be an anonymous internet poster. Whereas you are clearly not! To be fair, I think my kid's video games have levels...maybe you were thinking of that? Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
BubberMiley Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 I'm pleased that you are so humbled by the embarrassing GOP losses that you are reduced to arguing whether a "branch" could be construed as a "level" or not. Too bad that by debating elementary semantics you've betrayed your own beliefs that Sarah Palin is nearly as stupid as me. Shady Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Too bad that by debating elementary semantics you've betrayed your own beliefs that Sarah Palin is nearly as stupid as me. I would hardly qualify the American constitution and its specified seperation of powers between the equal branches of government as "elementary." But if you want to go there, you failed that test miserably my friend. And we never agreed that Sarah Palin was nearly as stupid as you, but possibly you know, Caroline, you know, Kennedy, you know. But it sure is fun to watch you twist in the semantic wind. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
BubberMiley Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Twist in the semantic wind? I think that's the dance you and Shady are doing. Can you describe how a level would be, by definition, different from a branch, even in the context of a tree? bush_cheney2004 Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Twist in the semantic wind? I think that's the dance you and Shady are doing. Can you describe how a level would be, by definition, different from a branch, even in the context of a tree? We don't need a civics lesson for the US federal government. Just take your lumps and move on. Maybe you missed this on Saturday mornings (Schoolhouse Rock): Three Ring Government Gonna have a three-ring circus someday, People will say it's a fine one, son. Gonna have a three-ring circus someday, People will come from miles around. Lions, tigers, acrobats, and jugglers and clowns galore, Tightrope walkers, pony riders, elephants, and so much more... Guess I got the idea right here at school. Felt like a fool when they called my name, Talkin' about the government and how it's arranged, Divided in three like a circus. Ring one, Executive, Two is Legislative, that's Congress. Ring three, Judiciary. See it's kind of like my circus, circus. Step right up and visit ring number one. The show's just begun. Meet the President. I am here to see that the laws get done. The ringmaster of the government. On with the show! Hurry, hurry, hurry to ring number two. See what they do in the Congress. Passin' laws and juggling bills, Oh, it's quite a thrill in the Congress. Focus your attention on ring number three. The Judiciary's in the spotlight. The courts take the law and they tame the crimes Balancing the wrongs with your rights. No one part can be more powerful than any other is. Each controls the other you see, and that's what we call checks and balances. Well, everybody's act is part of the show. And no one's job is more important. The audience is kinda like the country you know, Keeping and eye on their performance. Ring one, Executive, Two is Legislative, that's Congress. Ring three, Judiciary. See it's kind of like my circus, circus. Gonna have a three-ring circus someday. People will say it's a fine one son, But until I get it, I'll do my thing With government. It's got three rings. Kitchener Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Not even Sarah Palin would make that kind of mistake. Evidence currently available makes it unwise to say of any mistake that Sarah Palin could not make it. Quote

Shady Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Can you describe how a level would be, by definition, different from a branch Even that's a pretty basic level of knowledge. BubberMiley Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 There was a time they were "co-equal," but that changed. The branches became levels. The executive became supreme. And, ironically, now that he has control of the whole game, Obama is the most powerful president ever. Who're the ones squirming, again?
