I want to know how people view the law giving the ability to form a coalition government

Any force that depends on non-soveriegn forces such as the Block to enforce and give law to all of Canada as a whole is illigitimate. How can the force of law be projected from out side the nation of Canada and have effect? Impossible - The fact that the Block for the record has uttered and declared that they are not of this nation - is grounds enough that not a drop of THEIR legal authority should be allowed to leak into OUR judical or political system - You are either a member of the Canadian Bar with privledge or you are NOT - The Block has cut it's own throat by denying the juridictional power of CANADA...YOU ARE EITHER IN OR OUT - THEY ARE OUT - hence the coalition that will be dependant on the Block to ensure the force of law - will be without privledge or authority.

I like it.

Just looked what happened south of the border in the alternative system where by the time everyone realised what they're dealing with, it was too late, and they had to just sit back for a few more years while the country went down the drain.

Sure, the CPC won the most seats amongst the other parties, but they didn't get the majority of the seats. What we see happening is the will of the majority now being represented.

That is an opinion that has no evidence to support it.

I suspect we will see some numbers soon (I thought we would have already). I really can't say what the results will be.

The fathers of Confederation would never have foreseen that a party like the Bloc would be allowed to occupy the corridors of Parliament, let alone be part of a Coalition Government. Pundits and Constitutional "experts" talk about Law and Precedents......I think they should use their noggins to examine what the spirit and intent of the Constitution is. Would those same fathers of Confederation have allowed the Bloc to be created in the first place? Absolutely not. They would consider it an abomination - outright treasonous. That's why the GG should not consider the Coalition as a valid option to govern.

While there at it, they can read sections 2 and 3 of the Constitution Act, 1982. They allow for the Bloc.

Looking back at my post, my wording was vague.... I was talking about the number of seats that form the majority, I should've stated that more clearly.

But either way, electorate or Canadians in general... the will of the majority is being represented no matter which way you look at it.

Do the majority of Canadians want a coalition government, that should be taken to the electorate. If that's what the majority of Canadians want, then why not have an election? Keep in mind that billions of dollars are about to be spent anyway on other things. If this coalition party can win an election, then the people have spoken and they should be allowed to govern.

Not to have the ability to form a coalition government is just stupid.

Otherwise you could end up in a situation where a minority government gets in and is thrown out immediately by the opposition resulting in another immediate election. After a NEW election we could end up in the same situation. It becomes a vicious cycle with no out.

The option does not exist for the hell of it.

Does it show I am a History Major? :P

This wasn't much of a problem in the past because we have been typically a 2 or at most 3 party system which makes coalitions extremely rare.

This is probably the new reality going into the future since we have 4 solid parties and a fringe Green Party.

Welcome to the coalition era.
