Halifax Regional Municipality is reviewing its practice of using a polygraph test on job applicants after critics questioned why applicants were asked whether they had ever thought of killing themselves or had sex with animals.

Why would anyone question this?

It is a strange question for jobs I don't think is widely practice and sure out of date. I would suggest that if having sex with animals affect the performance of the job, the IT job in concern, then go ahead ask away. I however don't believe that there is widespread sex with animals in Halifax nor is it a social norm.

This is to the n degree humiliation for ordinary people. For that reason I wonder why is the Human Rights is not all over this. They lay out who we should or shouldn't hire even when it is an extreme burden to an employer.
