Shady Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 (edited) LA Times Obama-Rashid Khalidi Video: $175,000 Reward Offered for Tape The LA Times still refuses to release the video of Barack Obama and PLO spokesman Rashid Khalidi. $175,000 has been raised for a copy of the tape. ALSO: the guest list, Michelle O's terror fund-raiser friend, two explosive quotes from a Doug Ross tip. McCain calls for video's release Yahoo As it's been stated on several blogs, If the Los Angeles Times had a video of John McCain toasting a supporter of the old South African apartheid government, does anyone think they wouldn't release it without hesitation? GostHacked Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 To quote from a recent Joe Biden interview, is that a joke? The mainstream media cloaks itself in so-called "objectivity." Nope it is not a joke. Fox news is anything BUT fair and balanced. I have seen how the interviews go with Obama, he was treated pretty hostile by Hannity, but yet Hannity treated Palin with kid gloves. So does that seem fair and balanced to you? They would have been equally hard on all of them during the interviews if that was the case. There is no objectivity in main stream media today. You are better off to get some good information and fact checking through the many news blogs out there. I like Crooks and Liars for the most part. It can be considered a left outlet... hmm so I guess there is much bias everywhere. And it is a damn pain in the ass to sift through all the garbage to get to the important stuff. It is glamour and show, without substance 90% of the time. Hell, even Tweety (Chris Mathews) can be objective once in a while and call out the garbage from the right when he sees it. Jerry This kind of character scrutinizationshould have been dnoe months ago. I guess you have not been paying attention since the campaigning started. And if Obama has not been scrutinized, then neither has McCain, Palin, or Biden. Quote

I agree that MSNBC is hella biased, but all the rest combined is not even as bad as FOX alone Quote

sharkman Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 Good grief people, whine about Fox while conveniently ignoring the LA Times, which is suppressing news about Obama. Obama's choice of friends and advisors in his past is fair game. The LA Times is censoring part of Obama's history. That is simply wrong, and it hurts their credibility in the process. This is indeed the year that journalism died in America. Yet for all of their efforts at giving Obama the win, he is sliding in the polls with 5 days to go. Quote
BubberMiley Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 Demonizing people Obama has met doesn't really work when McCain has given that person at least a half a million dollars. How come no one is asking the amount of the other grants McCain gave him, which is not public information other than the fact they exist? Maybe because the guy isn't really the demonic figure the GOP would like to make him out to be. Shady Posted October 31, 2008 Author Report Posted October 31, 2008 Nope it is not a joke. Fox news is anything BUT fair and balanced. I have seen how the interviews go with Obama, he was treated pretty hostile by Hannity. Sean Hannity has ever interviewed Barack Obama. You're quite ill-informed. And the mainstream media do cloak themselves in objectivity. What do you think it means when CNN calls themselves "the most trusted name in news?" Hell, even Tweety (Chris Mathews) can be objective once in a while and call out the garbage from the right when he sees it. I'm not sure exactly what "Tweety" means. I guess it must be a leftwing nutroots type reference. Anyhow, yes Chris "I have thrill up my leg from Obama" Matthews is quite the objective journalist. At least CNN has right-wing representatives on their shows. Don't even compare CNN to Fox; Fox is just wayy out of the ballpark. Fox News always has leftwing representative on their shows. If you actually watched Fox News you would know this. Oh, and guess who else was at the Rashid Kalidi celebration. Yep, Bill Ayers. It was a smorgasbord of all Obama's terrorist buddies. I don't think Tony Rezko was able to make it, unfortunately he's having a bit of trouble with the law. However, I'm wondering if Obama's racist, anti-semitic preacher was able to attend. If only the LA Times would release the video. I can tell you who wasn't there, and who isn't friends with any of them. John McCain. Quote
Sir Bandelot Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 I can tell you who wasn't there, and who isn't friends with any of them. John McCain. Well he has a strange way of showing who he's not friends with. "During the 1990s, while he served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI), McCain distributed several grants to the Palestinian research center co-founded by Khalidi, including one worth half a million dollars. A 1998 tax filing for the McCain-led group shows a $448,873 grant to Khalidi's Center for Palestine Research and Studies for work in the West Bank. (See grant number 5180, "West Bank: CPRS" on page 14 of this PDF.) The relationship extends back as far as 1993, when John McCain joined IRI as chairman in January. Foreign Affairs noted in September of that year that IRI had helped fund several extensive studies in Palestine run by Khalidi's group, including over 30 public opinion polls and a study of "sociopolitical attitudes." Of course, there's seemingly nothing objectionable with McCain's organization helping a Palestinian group conduct research in the West Bank or Gaza. But it does suggest that McCain could have some of his own explaining to do as he tries to make hay out of Khalidi's ties to Obama." Quote

Yet for all of their efforts at giving Obama the win, he is sliding in the polls with 5 days to go. Well, us lefties thought we would try a righty tactic. Post things that detract from the topic. And if you think journalism died this year, you have clearly not been paying attention. Journalism and investigative reporting died a couple decades ago. Shady Sean Hannity has ever interviewed Barack Obama. You're quite ill-informed. And the mainstream media do cloak themselves in objectivity. What do you think it means when CNN calls themselves "the most trusted name in news?" Actually, you are correct it was Bill O'Reilly that had intervied Obama. And as for CNN, you can trust them to be a certain way all the time. I watch CNN along with many other news sources. I'm not sure exactly what "Tweety" means. I guess it must be a leftwing nutroots type reference. Anyhow, yes Chris "I have thrill up my leg from Obama" Matthews is quite the objective journalist. Liam Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) 1. The LA Times got the tape and reported on it back in the spring, this story is not new. 2. The LA Times received the tape from its source on the condition that it not be released, but that the LA Times was free to report on it. 3. The tape allegedly shows a faculty going away party for Khalidi who was leaving the University of Chicago for Columbia. Allegedly the tape show Obama (as a fellow faculty member) saying a few kind words about Khalidi and expressing gratitude for challenging Obama's thinking on Middle Eastern issues (Obama does not say he convinced him, just that he challenged his thinking). 4. Who is Khalidi? Born in New York and a graduate of Yale University, he is a former journalist and former consultant at the Madrid Peace talks in 1991, he is one of the foremost experts on Middle East issues. He was never a member of the PLO. He disagrees with aspects of Israel's policies -- last time I checked, freedom of opinion has not been outlawed -- but has never been known to be an anti-semite or anti-Israel. Big. Deal. GostHacked Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 So Chris Matthews is a center-right host? What exactly makes him center-right? Was it working for the Carter Administration or was it working for Tip O'Neil (D) and the Dems in the House? Which one? Great source. Maybe you want to send that question in to the people who made the site, or do a google search. I just wanted to answer your question about "tweety'. But I don't know, what DOES make him a center-right host? http://mediamatters.org/items/200603080005 In December 2005, after documenting dozens of examples of Matthews proffering conservative misinformation on Hardball, Media Matters for America crowned him "Misinformer of the Year" -- succeeding Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly. And as this brief study documents, the views expressed on Hardball are "more conservative than people think": Republican/conservative guests have dominated Hardball panels since 2006 began. So he is for sure on the right. Quote

Wee need you down come back down here to the lower 48 to investigate this Joe the Plumber guy, he's been causing our guy, Obama, some trouble down here." Reporter: "But I'm almost done wrapping up the "Sarah Palin Librarian investigation" and was about to move on to the "Sarah Palin wardrobe debacle"" (token conservative reporter) "Ahem, hey guys, what about this whole Obama launched his political career in a terrorist's living room or spent twenty years attending a racist church?" News Editor: "That's not news! Everyone's got a few minor flaws. Now let's start diggin into this whole "Sarah Palin's bear rug" piece a little deeper.: Uh oh, the Israel thing. Oh no, what will they do? Obama going to bomb Israel? No. He'll just meet without precondition with Ahmedinejad, the man who WANTS to nuke Israel. But not to worry, as per his most commonly used phrase, when the press quizzes Barack while showing clips of a post-nuclear Israel, I'm sure Barack will respond as per usual: "This isn't the Ahmedinejad I knew."
