Palin/Thompson 2012! - Sarah Palin is the only non-millionaire between the four of them (Obama, Biden, McCain) - I haven't heard any double standard discussed regarding Michelle Obama, and her wardrobe, and hair and make-up professionals from Oprah. JerrySeinfeld Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 Hey Obamatrons: Newsflash. Free born private citizens or organizations can speand their own money however they want. At least until Obama takes over in January. Meantime, is Joe Biden's $1,000 per week first-class Amtrak seat is paid for using PUBLIC dollars. Is this what the great Messiah means when he says "spread the wealth around"? This financial meltdown is just the shock the marxists need. The rest of the world tried socialism and turned away. Now as the rest of the world moves right of centre, the financial crisis is pushing Americans in a dangerous direction. Obama, together with his blank resume, un checked past and questionable associations is very scary. As he sits down with Ahmedinejad over non-precondition high tea, will his response be the same as his was about Reverend Wright or Bill Ayers? When the mushroom cloud rises over Tel Aviv, will we all be fed the same old line: "This isn't the ahmedinejad I knew." He's either secretly militant or incredibly Naive. EIther way, not a good fit for Leader of the Free world. Quote

Shady Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 "This isn't the ahmedinejad I knew." So true. If I only had a nickle for everytime he's uttered that stupid remark, I'd be rich, until of course Obama came looking for half my pay check, in order to spread the wealth around. "Remember, From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs." I think we should start calling him "Teflon Barry". You find he's spent 20 years attending a racist church that says "GOD DAMN AMERICA"? "This isn't the Reverened Wright I knew." And the press buys it. Hang out with radical bombers? "This isn't the Bill Ayers I knew." And the press buys it. Wife says, after her husband has a chance to win the nomination "this is first time in my adut life I've been proud to be an american" "That's not what I MEANT to say." And the press buys it. Teflon Barry: nothin sticks to him. Edited October 25, 2008 by JerrySeinfeld Quote

kimmy Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 Michelle is running for which office again? Oh yea....none. Whoops. It doesn't matter if she's running for office or not. She's a highly visible part of the Obama campaign, and a woman in the center of the public eye. Knowing how much has been spent on Michelle Obama's clothing and styling would give us some perspective on the issue of whether $150,000 for Palin is an outrageous amount for a woman in this situation. BC-Chick and Riverwind (and uh, yourself I believe) suggested that there's a gender double standard at work here. Knowing how much Michelle Obama's image has cost would give us an apples-to-apples comparison to compare to Palin's expenses. And she's been a part of the Obama campaign, so it's fair game. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

Guest American Woman Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 Uh, again, Michelle Obama isn't basing her campaign on being plain old joe-sixpack hockey mom. To my knowledge, the Democratic party hasn't taken her on any shopping sprees using party funds, either. Furthermore, I haven't read anything about her clothing costing a fortune. In fact, I've read just the opposite-- that she shops for bargains. Quote
Mr.Canada Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 If you don't support the Rep. what do you care how they spend their funds. Why is her wardrobe a matter of public debate. How much are Obama's, McCain's or Berin's suits worth? Quote "You are scum for insinuating that isn't the case you snake." -William Ashley Canadian Immigration Reform Blog
Guest American Woman Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 (edited) How much are Obama's, McCain's or Berin's suits worth? Who's Berin? As for the rest of them, who cares how much they cost if they weren't at the party's expense? Political contributions, by law, aren't supposed to be used for personal expenses. But for what it's worth, from what I've read, Obama's suits aren't expensive. The 2002 campaign finance law that bears John McCain's name specifically barred any funds that "are donated for the purpose of supporting the activities of a federal or state office holder" from being used for personal expenses including clothing. link Edited October 25, 2008 by American Woman Quote

You know Drea, I get really offended when I get called anti-America. I always respond that it's not America I hate, but George Bush. Then people like you go and resort to these types of comments and give credence to the stereotype of the anti-American Canadian. Why would you get a thrill out of watching Americans destroy each other? (in a highly unlikely scenario btw) Do you hate Bush or do you hate America? I share your views on many subjects, but I don't understand making these kinds of inflammatory comments at all. As far as I know, Cindy McCain paid for her own $300,000 outfit the first night of the GOP convention. There really isn't a huge gender double standard in this case. John Edwards was raked over the coals for spending $400 on a haircut. That was his own money, had he taken it from the DNC, I'm sure it would have been an even bigger outrage. Quote
