myata Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 Here's a recent one: http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index....view=getnewpost (aka Federal Politics/"Gun control") Error: "The error returned was: Sorry, some required files are missing, if you intended to view a topic, it's possible that it's been moved or deleted. Please go back and try again." Any ideas? Also if there're other similar incidents, please post them here. If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant
Charles Anthony Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 That thread is under review. Some of the posts within that thread can conceivably be construed as against the law -- the law which supercedes the rules of this forum. We will give you an update as soon as possible. We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society. << Où sont mes amis ? Ils sont ici, ils sont ici... >>
myata Posted December 18, 2007 Author Report Posted December 18, 2007 Interesting ... I'll refrain from comments till hearing the full details on this. I expect them to be released to the community at the earliest opportunity. If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant
Guest American Woman Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 (edited) I can't read the "Gun Control" thread either, even though it appears you, Charles Anthony, were the last to post in it. Oh, ok. I see that's the thread Myata was questioning. It happened to me the other day with a thread titled "Ode to a Fart" (or some such thing) which is the thread I thought was being referred to here. Don't know how I missed the "Gun Control" referrence the first time I read the post. Sorry 'bout that. Edited December 18, 2007 by American Woman
Charles Anthony Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 I expect them to be released to the community at the earliest opportunity. That thread is now open. The explanation is here. Indeed, there have been other threads recently deleted: Ode To A Fart Are John Baird's eyes too close together? The guy has a weird face I am a trol! could it be true? These last three threads were comical but they did not foster civilized political discussion. We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society. << Où sont mes amis ? Indeed, there have been other threads recently deleted: Ode To A Fart Are John Baird's eyes too close together? The guy has a weird face I am a trol! could it be true? These last three threads were comical but they did not foster civilized political discussion. The titles sound downright hilarious. capricorn Posted December 19, 2007 Report Posted December 19, 2007 I kick myself for not having read a couple of those before they were deleted. Looks like I missed a good chuckle. "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Will Rogers
jdobbin Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 It appears one thread has been deleted. Is this due to it being cross posted? There could be dozens of these cross posted threads in the forums, many of them from the month of December alone. The rules seem pretty clear in regards to cross posting. What is the current stance on these cross posted threads and the people who cross post them?
Charles Anthony Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 It appears one thread has been deleted. Is this due to it being cross posted? Correct. It was deleted for that reason as well because the replies were filled with notices of the cross-posting and personal attacks. Nobody was discussing the actual topic. The rules seem pretty clear in regards to cross posting. What is the current stance on these cross posted threads and the people who cross post them? Correct. The rules are clear and the current stance is the same as it always has been: cross-posting is against the rules. If you are looking to learn how each specific violation is handled throughout the forum, it is not going to happen. We do not have time for a meeting of the flat earth society. << Où sont mes amis ? The only notification I was looking for was about the thread itself and what the rules were in regards to cross posting. It seemed clear the original poster thought it was permissible and I apologize for my notices on the cross posting. I had deleted those notices elsewhere early yesterday.
sharkman Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 How about when a poster repeats the same basic information without double posting in thread after thread? It could be in any subject as well, and it seems to not be addressed by the rules directly.

You can report such posts to the moderator but it sounds like you just don't like that poster. You should use just the ignore button rather if that's the case.
sharkman Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Thanks for your input, but I was hoping for someone in authority here.

jbg Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) How about when a poster repeats the same basic information without double posting in thread after thread? It could be in any subject as well, and it seems to not be addressed by the rules directly. It's often called "spamming". In this forum's rules, it's part of the ban on cross-posting: "It is also considered cross posting if you post the same information in different areas of these forums." (link). While I do not have any particular posters in mind, I consider the conduct you are describing to be a mixture of depravity, stupidity, rudeness and immaturity. jdobbin Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 jbg, I would add another to your list of conduct ...desperation. Are you talking about his desire to be exempted from cross posting rules? I totally agree. As for any other rules broken, there have been none. However, feel free to complain anyways.

I've complained to you plenty over the summer and fall, but I don't bother the mods unless there is some kind of gross infraction. You are sadly mistaken to think you have not double posted the same information on different threads, no doubt a simplistic attempt to pad your posting numbers. Also simplistic is your charge leveled at jbg when your actions make it clear you feel you're above that particular rule yourself. Now why don't you address my post with 4 different posts of one sentence each. Whatever floats your boat.

sharkman Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Who am I insulting? If you are going to report someone, you need an actual transgression of the rules, friend.
