JerrySeinfeld Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 A Turkish lawyer who's an expert on European law, Baris Kaska, is asking Uefa to cancel the three points Inter earned in their win against Fenerbahce in the recent Champions League match...The reason for the appeal is unusual: the celebratory shirt for Inter's centenary worn by the team that night, and on several other occasions this season, offended many people in Turkey. The shirt's scheme saw a big red cross on a white background, a symbol of the city of Milan, and reminded many of an emblem of the order of the Templars, which is considered offensive in Islamic culture. marcinmoka Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 (edited) More Islamophopia? Though based on a stupid premise, it's better he try to express his anger of defeat through batsh*t crazy legal claim than with tear gas, some broken bottles and various pieces of gardening equipment. This is the Champions League after all. Does anyone know the reason for the creation of the "Croissant"? I just ask myself that if the Ottoman Turks had won, would they of celebrated by baking a flaky, buttery cross to mark their victory? Or at least a piece of baclava, complete with a Jesus shaped pistachio. Edited December 12, 2007 by marcinmoka Quote " Influence is far more powerful than control"

No - probably something more commonplace...like a stabbing a Jew 18 times in the chest, ripping his face off with a fork and walking back up the stairs shouting "now I can go to heaven, for I have killed my Jew!" wait - that actually happened in Paris a couple of years ago....my bad. Fortunata Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Does anyone know the reason for the creation of the "Croissant"? Hiding butter in rising bread dough so it wouldn't get stolen. Someone forgot to remove it, rolled it out and now we have croissants. and speaking of which, shrovecakes..... Doughgods. If you were lucky apple doughgods. Drizzled with honey whilst hot. Yum! Quote
Michael Hardner Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Seinfeld, The number ONE stupid argument used to generate anti-Islamic posts around these boards is to find some ridiculous person who did a ridiculous thing, and make them the captain of whatever team you're cheering against. This Islamic lawyer is a lawyer too. Maybe it's his lawyerness that's making him evil ? Or maybe he listened to heavy metal while growing up in Turkey... Or maybe he grew up needing rock-simple answers to anything that ever happens in the world and needs to tie everything to someone's religion. There is a common thread of Islam expecting th rest of the world to change on behalf of Allah that is so obvious, only smoeone who intentionally tries to ignore it could do so. Quote

Michael Hardner Posted December 13, 2007 Report Posted December 13, 2007 Scott, Why are you so insipid? I don't know. Why don't you respond to some of my arguments once in awhile if you think they're wrong. The "this Muslim did something bad therefore immigration is bad" argument is undoubtedly a crappy one - you yourself haven't used it to my memory - yet you never say anything against it.
