Forum Admin Greg Posted December 10, 2007 Forum Admin Report Posted December 10, 2007 I've recently made a few changes to the forum templates, and widened the forum a bit. For those of you who are still using the old forum skin, please take a look at the new forum width and share your comments. And for those of you who are using the Design Integration skin (which is the default forum skin), please share your comments too. Do you like the width of the forums? Are they too wide? Too narrow? Etc, Thanks, Greg F Forum Admin Quote Have any issues, problems using the forum? Post a message in the Support and Questions section of the forums.
Riverwind Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Do you like the width of the forums? Are they too wide? Too narrow? EtcI dislike the fixed width approach. I understand that there are probably some technical issues that make it difficult but you asked for feedback. That said, I am fine using the old template. Guest American Woman Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 The new format still doesn't fit my screen, but like Riverwind, I'm fine using the old format. Quote

Forum Admin Greg Posted December 10, 2007 Author Forum Admin Report Posted December 10, 2007 I dislike the fixed width approach. I understand that there are probably some technical issues that make it difficult but you asked for feedback. I can look at modifying the templates so that one of them is a flexible width format. The new format still doesn't fit my screen, but like Riverwind, I'm fine using the old format. Fit? Meaning, that the forum skin is too wide? Thanks, keep the comments coming, Quote Have any issues, problems using the forum? Post a message in the Support and Questions section of the forums.

Meaning, that the forum skin is too wide? Yes. On my desktop (Windows ME, if that makes a difference) it's too wide. On my laptop (XP) it's narrower than my screen. Maybe that has something to do with my settings?-- which admittedly I know nothing about. Quote
capricorn Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 My OS is Vista Home Premium. When I enter the forum site there are two inches of white space on each side of the forum. I can decrease that white space by pressing ctrl and the + (plus) sign together. This also increases the font size. Conversely, I can increase the white space on each side by pressing ctrl and the - (minus) sign together and the font size also decreases. This also works when I am viewing web pages. Carinthia Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Too wide for my screen. I am in the same boat as American Woman, wouldn't have clue how to adjust it on my own. Quote
jdobbin Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 The change looks better but like an old book cover, I prefer the old look. Thanks for the work on it though. Quote
August1991 Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Do you like the width of the forums? Are they too wide? Too narrow? Etc,On my screen, the "Design Integration" leaves me with broad white vertical bars on both sides of the screen. The forum text is narrow. I hate such waste.I use the "IPB 2.2.0 Default" which fills horizontally the screen. This is my strong preference. Quote
margrace Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 I too find it too wide for my screen and I have no idea how to adjust it. Quote

Forum Admin Greg Posted December 11, 2007 Author Forum Admin Report Posted December 11, 2007 Ok, I want everyone to give the Design Integration skin another whirl. I've modified the skin so that it is 100% flexible. It'll stretch to fit any sized screen. Perhaps two version of the skin would work - one flexible, one static... Forum Admin Greg Posted December 12, 2007 Author Forum Admin Report Posted December 12, 2007 Ok, here is what I've done. I've removed the old template that didn't have the new MLW header/masthead and I've created two different forum skins. The first - and default skin - is the skin that is set to 90% of the browser window. The second skin is set to 98% of the window and to see this skin, you must select it via the drop down box in the lower left hand corner of the forums (in the forum footer). This skin setup should please everyone. If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to post them here, Thanks, Quote Have any issues, problems using the forum?
