They probably never polled those folks who are bankrupt from medical bills. They may not be dying in the streets, but they're paying dearly for medical care. Not everyone has insurance down there, and the many that do still pay plenty over and above what their insurance covers for basic medical care.

Remember Brian Mulroney? The stacked senate to pass GST, free trade, and the "roll the dice" night for the Meech Lake Accord. No party is immune from "deal making." This is politics after all folks.

I simply gave another definition to the word as given by Webster. I thought it might create a little levity to this otherwise mean-spirited debate.

Not to get picky or anything but my Webster's dictionary includes the following as one definition for marriage: Any close or intimate union. Kinda blurs the "is" part of your argument.

So by that logic anything that is now illegal will one day become legal? So how about human rights?

I really wonder if the missing Tories were deliberately misplaced. Harper knows he'd lose a summer election.

From Army Guy: "...I have not contended that soldiers are better than civilians but better than most ordinary people..." Please clarify the difference between civilian and ordinary people. -
I guess he doesn't follow the polls. Most Americans now feel they shouldn't have gone into Iraq.

mcqueen625, part of the definition of marriage, according to my Webster dictionary, includes "any close or intimate union." It also says nothing about this ceremony being religious in nature. Just my 2 cents.

My kids were coming from work and saw it touch down just west of West Lethbridge. No damage, just in a field. A bigger one apparently touched down just north of Taber tho.

I really don't know what the big fuss is about. I applaud the two tier system. I don't know about waiting times for knee and hip replacements but for my meagre physio, I'm in a private clinic within a couple of days here in Alberta. My wife got an private MRI within a week. My father got his cataracts taken care of in the same period of time.

"...almost got Quebec to sign on to the constitution..." August, don't you mean bribed?

I too think it was inappropriate for the good Senator to make an appearance at Homolka's court case. If he wants to support poor Carla, fine, but not at taxpayer's expense. If his motive was "strictly personal" then perhaps he can reimburse the public purse.

Thanks Deep Throat!

Well, in 1972/73 if you're a bureaucrat and you want to report corruption where do you go? Felt couldn't go the attorney general as Mitchell was a crook as well. Couldn't go to Pat Gray as his boss had orders to keep out of it. So take an ambitious 2nd in command with a hate for Nixon to begin with and voila! Deep Throat in a parking garage. As far as the two young reporters and Felt deserving all the credit, I don't know. They certainly got things rolling, and the tapes did the rest. -

The only comment on free press I have is why they banned the Reagan movie from CBS. I know it probably didn't show Ronnie in a good light, but to ban it before release. Sounds like censorship. -
I agree throwing money at the problem and applying bandaids won't do it. I feel the Native people require an understanding from the "white" population and especially the Government as to what their culture entails and what led them to their substance abuse problem in the first place. And if money is going to be applied, bypass the lawyers and make finances directly available for psychologists and Native counsellors on the reserve and in Provincial Correctional Centres. Sparhawk is right though; FAS is already upon us and needs to be addressed. No easy answers.

How about apologizing to them and offering a willingness to settle financially over the abuse many indured in residential schools? Maybe then they can start healing.

From bigdude: "And there are other experts who say differently, as I just heard one on radio one. Since when are the MSM unbiased observers, eh!" Well, I guess we're going to believe what we want to believe. This guy, John Dooher, was convincing though. He actually showed on TV the spikes on the frequency range where editing was done on Grewal's tape. He compared background noise as well. It too varied when the edit happened. Like I said, he was very convincing.

Try this link. This guy is a forensic audio engineer. http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/20...apes050602.html I'll take his word over any MP.

Thanks for the whole quote BD.

"I'm unsure why you refer to Laurie Mylroie as a rightwinger. She was a member of Clinton's own team on Iraqi affairs." I think if you read her works you'd come to the same conclusion. If I may quote a portion of the reviews from her book, Saddam Hussein's Unfinished War Against America, "... Its (her book) acknowledgements fulsomely thanked John Bolton and the staff of AEI for their assistance, while Richard Perle glowingly blurbed the book as "splendid and wholly convincing." Lewis "Scooter" Libby, now Vice President Cheney's chief of staff, is thanked for his "generous and timely assistance." And it appears that Paul Wolfowitz himself was instrumental in the genesis of Study of Revenge: His then-wife is credited with having "fundamentally shaped the book," while of Wolfowitz, she says: "At critical times, he provided crucial support for a project that is inherently difficult." ... Oh, and she was only an Iraq advisor to Clinton during his 1992 campaign.

Judge Baer apparently relied on evidence from ex-CIA director James Woolsey under Clinton, Laurie Mylroie (a right wing terrorist expert) and three Iraq defectors. His ruling, in his words, was "circumstantial at best." It obviously pleased the families of the victims of 911 and I hope it can bring them some closure. The real question is, Does the judge's ruling provide the absolute proof of linkage (Iraq/911)?
