  1. A lesson for you and the rest of the forumites.
  2. I'll bet you wouldn't say that about the New World Translations, or the bible that the Jehovah's Witness use. The King James is universal and it's riddled with contradiction from Genesis to Revelation, but that's another thread.
  3. In the Anglican Church of Canada, six parishes in the Diocese of New Westminster bless same sex unions, and Dean Peter Elliott of that diocese is a gay man in a committed relationship. [/i]
  4. Betsy, you fall into the same trap as most Christians when faced with facts. You simply use a bible translation that works for you. Have you ever asked yourself why there are SO many translations out there? Shouldn't God's word be understandable, at least His own prayer? And for the record, children are very misled and gullible.

  6. Funny you should mention that. My husband and I were pondering about that very same thing not too long ago. One of our guesses was that "lead us not into temptation"...means..."not to put us to the test." I sometimes pray, adding "I'm afraid that I might fail." Why should we have to guess? The prayer was to God. Does God occasionally lead us into temptation?
  7. Interesting given that the Lord's prayer talks about "Lead us not into temptation." The prayer is to God, so who would be doing the leading?
  8. Please don't put words in Jesus' mouth. He said nothing of the kind.
  9. The truth of the matter is that Jesus said NOTHING about this topic. If it was that important, or that much of a sin, don't you think he might cover it? I believe Jesus message is/was to love our fellow man/woman. His ministry was about love and forgiveness, not judgement and condemnation: "Thou shalt love the Lord they God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." Matt.22:37-40.
  10. Yeah, right. Lebanon not being destroyed
  11. Proof of MP involvement please?? Indictments, convictions??
  12. You mean they've bumped the Unites States to number 2?
  13. Well, at least 36% of the voting public perhaps. link That's off the charts popularity in Canada though. Our governments must be even more incompetent. Poll numbers don't equal competency. Most people are too stupid to make up their own minds, poll numbers equal media spin. Yeah, but the politicians sure use them when they're in their favour.
  14. Ball's in the Con's court now.
  15. Don't forget Mel Gibson's little anti-semitic tirade this past Friday. link

  21. Gee, how about post #3: "I think what the Israelis need to do is go in there with tanks to clear out all the Arabs within several miles of its borders, then bulldozers to wipe out every building, every house, every shed, then drop agent orange to kill every bit of vegetation, plant mines, and make it clear that anyone seen in the area will be shot on sight."
  22. I disagree with that. I don't think any religion has a monopoly on fanaticism. What this fellows says makes a lot of sense: "There is in the U.S. a very powerful religious force that has a special pre-occupation," he explained. "They use the Bible, the Old Testament, to say that the end of the world is coming. Armageddon (in northern Israel) is where the final battle will take place and the rapture will take all believers up to heaven." http://www.ipsnews.net/fsm2003/26.01.2003/nota13.shtml
  23. They're taught to respect fear.
