RCMP officer shot to death in NWT
geoffrey replied to geoffrey's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Me too, great idea. That's very clear. I think the RCMP, and perhaps some municiple forces really need to take a look at some policies. But it's hard to enforce such policies when you simply don't have the officer resources to deal with expanding police mandates and increased crime. I really support all provinces adopting something along the lines Alberta's Sheriff program, to take police members out of traffic duty and putting them into the community. That way the province still makes it's ticket revenue (actually much more revenue having a dedicated highway patrol), pretends that the highways are safer (collisions and deaths are up even though tickets are exponentially higher...) but importantly, ensures that there is the best possible usage of a limited resource, their RCMP officers in rural detachments. -

Even though few are alive that committed the deeds? Do you regularly spit on young Germans in the streets too? -
If Dion supports the throne speech, he's setting himself up for an even greater fall. The Liberals will have to dismiss Kyoto outright to support the government. This will be spun against the party as unable to stand up and be the opposition. It also takes the environment right off the table as an election issue between the two parties. The Liberals will bleed heavily to the NDP for abandoning Kyoto (we all know that Martin/Dion abandoned it years ago, but not the average idiot).

RCMP officer shot to death in NWT

Emrah Bulatci has surrendered to police: http://www.canada.com/topics/news/national...17-3d8256542e4f I'm sure this time, he won't get bail, again. His family has shown such disgusting arrogance. It's obvious that failed parents can lead their kids down the road towards drugs and eventually murder. -- It also appears his list of previous convictions was longer than originally estimated: 25 criminal offences in 3 years in 4 towns. When the hell was the justice system going to wake up and put this thug behind bars? -- Also, http://www.canada.com/edmontonjournal/news...d4-121014fe6828 It appears that the police officers on the street don't agree with the one man to a car policy. It's time this changes. If it means pulling guys from divisions like traffic or something, then go for it. Officer safety needs to come before police department revenue. Or simply make the changes neccessary to attract more members, and fund those spots. Quite simply, the police don't have the manpower to do their jobs if officers ride alone to dangerous calls. -
The Liberals are in serious trouble, more so than the CPC is surging. 28% is very questionable support. Even worse, this is a trend. Beyond that, the Liberals are dead in Quebec, completely dead. A campaign may even see the CPC take enough support to oust the Bloc at the top of the Quebec popular vote. Canadians are pretty clear in that they really don't like Dion. Can the Liberals fix their terrible error or will they have to risk entering a campaign with him at the helm? I don't believe there is any Canadian that believes that Dion will make gains during a campaign.

We have no obligation to let convicted criminals into Canada. These women need to stop complaining. It's not their country, they don't vote or pay taxes here. Go back to where they came from and protest there. Why would we want people that promote civil disorder in Canada?

What racist pigs, hey? -
The Taliban will kill the farmers that deal with us instead of them. So naive. The Taliban control the poppy crop. Do you want your tax dollars buying arms and IEDs for the Taliban to use against our troops? You can't just walk in and offer farmers direct cash unless you have the security resources to protect them from relentless Taliban attacks. If we don't have the security to torch the fields, we certainly don't have the resources to protect farmers. If the RCMP just walked up to a Hell's Angels grow op and volunteered to buy all the weed from the individual running it, that guy is going to be in some rough shape in a hurry. Now multiply the profit and the danger and you've got Afghanistan.

Interview with NDP Leader, Jack Layton
geoffrey replied to Greg's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Mr. Layton, Both the Conservative and Liberal parties have strong youth movements with many up and coming leaders. The NDP has recently seen some of it's vetern members, one's that carry a great deal of respect in both the House and among Canadians, retire from politics. Are you confident that your party has enough youth involvement to have the same national presence 10 or 20 years down the road? -- Or alternatively... -- How do you see the unionized labour movement and business working together to improve Canada's productivity compared to the rest of the OECD? -
Feeding pigeons often encourages them to return looking for food. I don't know if Florida has an unemployment issue, but somehow I don't think it could possibly be worse than say Quebec or the Maritimes. Banning feeding these people in large, open public areas is matter of public health and safety. The disease that could be spread and potential violence is not worth it. Have you ever seen all the fights around homeless shelters. And now we want to do that in a park? Parks are for the enjoyment of all citizens, preferably taxpayers. If sometimes aggressive and dangerous homeless bums are taking that away from people, they need to be removed.

Political "Green Belt" Emerging in Ontario ?

Alberta oil thirst leading to disaster ?
geoffrey replied to jennie's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I know! Coal powered cars! GREAT! Get real. Every green solution has a real world implication behind it. Powering cars by plugging into your house is essientially running them off coal in North America (excluding Quebec East) - I'll address the rest later. Basically, oil exploitation in Alberta does not really harm our environment in a quality of life sense out here. -
Canada would be as likely to join the US as a parliamentary monarchy or a republic. I don't see why eliminating the Queen makes us any closer to the Americans. When anti-Americanism blinds your rational senses, it's a big problem. Most Canadians suffer from this unfortunate disease.

Honesty, intelligence and looking beyond tax hikes to find innovative solutions, on the other hand, are obviously not required.

Six Nation's members are either Canadian or American depending on what side of the border they are on. There is no such thing as Iroquois citizenship, we've been through this a hundred times. The falsehoods need to end. Never the less, let me give you a story. My family arrived here before Canada was Canada and settled in New France in what is now a posh Montreal suburb. Canada became a country and on and on and now we are at where we're at today. Now, my family never explicited ceded, of course before 5:00 and after eatting a feast with the moon at 32.67 degrees, their land to Canada. Essientially, using the Indian logic, I should be able to claim about 300 acres of suburban Montreal as my hereditary possession. Do you disagree? -
Limiting the Federal Power to Spend

I wonder if Quebec's insistance on Federal spending powers would end if we started with slashing all the health and education transfers? -
Mmm mmm mmm. Jdobbin for PM. Why not just hit up 20%? You'd surely get my vote then.

Race is a dead concept in biology, a fruitless endeavour. So I prefer to refer to legal status than to non-existant things such as race. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Race My problem is not with people that are of dissent of some of the tribes that inhabited limited areas prior to Eurpoeanisation, it's with the concept of Indian status and DNA based privledge.
