  1. Unfortunately you don't seem to realize that Blue Cross will only sell coverage to healthy people, and they asked if there is a pre-existing condition before a policy is written and accepted. If there is a pre-existing condition, IE; Diabetes, Heart condition, Hypertension, Cancer, and most other medical conditions you are automatically classified as uninsurable. so don't attempt to give people the impression that they can buy medical insurance for $42.00 per month, because it simply is not true. In fact any insurance company who offers medical insurance has the same policies.
  2. I find myself living on a CPP Disability Pension due to an acute cardiac condition, along with Diabetes, and when my wife and I separated I found myself with absolutely no medical coverage to pay for my medications, and I am now forced to apply for Income Assistance in order to obtain the medications necessary to keep me alive. Yes, I know some of you scrooges would begrudge that coverage to me saying that I should purchase medical insurance, but the truth is that most insurance companies only want to sell coverage to healthy people, and when they discover you have developed a medical condition that they consider uninsurable they wait with baited breath for the first opportunity to discontinue your coverage. In my case up until October I had coverage, and between myself and Blue Cross my medications costs from January, 2008 until October 10th were approximately $8,000.00 and my annual income is under $12,000.00. I have been deemed by my doctors as totally disabled, and therefore unable to work at any type of work. Sure at one point before I had the heart attack I was gainfully employed, and purchased through my employment Long-Term Disability, which was cut off after two years on the grounds that in their opinion I was not totally disabled and able to go out and look for work. In the opinion of the claims officer (Clarica, now Sun Life Assurance) their definition of disabled differs from that of Canada Pension Claims analysts, but they never did explain how they reached that determination since they simply ignored all reports from my cardiologist and other Specialists. They even were willing to send me to a Occupational Therapist to assess my cardiac condition to determine how much I could lift and how much stress I could take. It was only after I asked them if they had a Cardiologist on staff did they decide that they were not willing to conduct the tests on behalf of the insurance company and the fact that they would be liable should I have another MI on their premises. So for all of you people who are dumping on those people unfortunate enough to have the financial resources to meet the necessities of life, I hope for your sake that you never find yourselves in the position I now find myself in. But you should never say NEVER, because I for one never thought that I would find myself in the situation I now find myself in.
  3. Elizabeth May? What has she ever done to warrant a Senate seat, and what has she ever accomplished that qualifies her in any way to hold a Senate seat, aside from having a big mouth and few brain cells? Oh sorry, I forgot, she is likely as qualified as most of those presently occupying seats in the Senate.
  4. Instead of appointing more useless party hacks to that retirement home in Ottawa, they should either completely abolish the Senate or elect it's members through equal representation from each province and territory, to specific terms in office, and to term limits. Politicians both federal and provincial should also be subject to term limits.
  5. Judging by the way the RCMP has embarrassed themselves with their unnecessary use of tasers they don't deserve any increase at all. In fact the whole force should be disbanded!
  6. Even many Liberal MP's are not in favour of Dion's power grab, and they know that by Dion aligning themselves with the NDP and the Separatists they have lost even their traditional support, and are even having major problems raising funds. The Liberal, and the NDP are virtually bankrupt and cannot afford to fund another election campaign. The result will be just what they don't want a Conservative majority, and the disappearance of he Liberal Party for decades. The Liberals have shown themselves to be a leftist-socialist party no different than the NDP, so when it comes time for people to mark their ballots, they are going to look at the NDP / Liberal alliance and choose the Conservatives instead. Why would any national party (Liberal, NDP) ever want to create the situation we would have under the coalition which would give the balance of power to a group of separatists? Some say, but the Bloc won't have any Cabinet seats. Duh!! They don't need Cabinet seats to control how the vote will go, they will simply tell the Lieberals and the NDP what they want in return for their support. That scenario is similar to a situation where the owners of multinational corporation do not run for political office. The answer is they don't need to because they own whoever gets elected anyway.
  7. Just remember it was the Liberals who sent our military to Afghanistan, not the Conservatives. Remember the moron, Chretien?
  8. The reality is that the coalition is all but dead with the departure of Dion, and his replacement by somebody with enough common sense to realize that to defeat this minority government would maen the end of the Liberal Party, since nobody knows for sure that the G.G. will not simply call an election if the government is defeated. Even she knows that the Bloc does not represent the vast majority of the people of Canada, and that they are simply a provincial protest party who's only concern and reason for participation in such a travesty is to hold Canada, the Liberals and the NDP hostage to get whatever they want for Quebec. Anyone with half a brain should realize that the Bloc has only one mandate, and the ROC can go to hell in a hand-basket as far as they are concerned, because all they are interested in is Quebec, not what is best for Canada. If the G.G. ends up calling a general election, the Liberals and the NDP will not be able to run again as separate entities as they have now exposed themselves and clearly shown the people of Canada that neither are any different from the other. They both stand for socialism, and socialism spells a tax and spend mentality, which is the last thing Canada needs in times of global recession.
  9. If you look at the BLOC politicians and the Liberals for that matter they refer to THEIR huge energy projects but the truth is that those projects are sitting on land that is OWNED by Newfoundland & Labrador although Quebec has always thought of all of the land on the mainland including Labrador as part of Quebec. The truth is that Quebec has been stealing from Newfoundland & Labrador ever since that agreement was signed. Quebec is making huge profits from projects that they do not own, on land they do not own. I think the borders of Quebec should be redraw back to their original places and we will see just how much land Quebec has encroached on that was not part of Quebec originally.
  10. I suppose someone has to give the morons who make up the judiciary in this country something to do. Being a lawyer does not make one smart. All it proves is that you are good and memorizing .
  11. What are you talking about off senting taxes? For starters even if you were right it is not off senting taxes, that would be off-setting taxes, but only die-hard Liberal puppets would ever believe a fairytale like that. The Liberals have never imposed a tax that was revenue neutral, and this one has absolutely nothing to do with fighting pollution, but everything to do with imposing a tax that will increase the prices of ALL goods and services in this country, so for Dion to lie and say it will be revenue neutral it shows just how stupid he thinks Canadians are. Of course it will be revenue neutral for government because he plans to use this tax grab to kick-start more socialist programs that we will wind up funding through higher taxes in the coming years. Let's just think back to the Gun Registry that was supposed to be about $1 Million upon start-up per year and after that would be supported by registration fees. The truth is that the cost ballooned to close to $2 Billion, and was still climbing, and it never enticed one criminal to rush to the nearest registry office to register their illegal guns. I'm sick and tired of half-baked politicians telling me that they know better than I do how I want my money spent. Thank you very much, I'll make that determination myself, and it certainly won't be on socialist programs that require ever increasing amounts of money to keep them going.
  12. You can't even argue logically, because the things you speak of have nothing to do with the subject of this forum. It's irrelevant about what the Tories did or didn't do, we are talking here about a carbon tax that is both ill-conceived and will make the poor and working poor of this country worse off than they already are. Income-tax reductions be damned as most of the people I refer to don't pay income tax anyway. For them the only thing that will happen is that they may have to visit the food bank or soup kitchen more often and that is assuming that those agencies have any food on their shelves to give to them. The Canadian Association of Food Banks has already spoken to this issue and outlined the fact that people will be far worse off than they are presently, and the agencies whom they rely on will also suffer from a huge reduction in donations. I can speak from experience when I say that already with the high costs of energy the numbers of clients needing the services of food bank or soup kitchens has gone up, and we haven't even got to the cold weather yet, when electricity bill will increase because people just can't turn off the thermostat and freeze. When the cost of living escalates, food bank donations decline right along with it. Presently in Canada approximately 720,000 individuals require the services of a food bank every month, and that number is expected to increase dramatically due to increased energy costs. After all of the years of Liberal socialist programs and all of the money wasted on useless programs like a gun registry, that by he way also did not do what it was supposedly designed to do, which was to take guns out of the hands of criminals. All it did under the Liberal was create yet another huge bureaucracy. I'm not sure what Chretien was thinking, but maybe during one of his delusions he dream of t all of the criminals in Canada in possession of illegal firearms would rush to the nearest registry office and register their weapons. Of course that didn't happen but they wasted how many $Billion. I know that rant was off topic as well but I was just attempt to illustrate just how ridiculous the Liberal are when it comes to dreaming up half-baked plans to siphon even more money out of the pocket of Canadians.
  13. You just keep telling yourself that, and when the Liberals wind up devastated on October 14th, the Liberal Party of Canada will end up where they deserve to be, destined to become a party that will be years if ever coming out of the woods. It will be embarassing for anyone to even admit they were stupid enough to vote Liberal. Don't gt me wrong, I hold a Liberal Party card, but I wouldn't vote Liberal again if they paid me, because likely they would be trying to buy my vote with my own money. In NB we presently have a first term Liberal Premier and he is going to wind up as one of the only Premiers in history to serve only one term. He certainly won't get relected by his present record of stupidity and calous disregard for the people of this province.
  14. What are you talking about when you say Dion will work with the provinces?? BC has already imposed their very own carbon tax that took affect on July 1st of this year, and already the prices on virtually all goods and services have increased. Ask the people of BC how happy they are with Gordon Campbell and his carbon tax. Now Dion wants to come along and give the knock-out punch by imposing his version of this rip-off on top of the shafting Gordon has already perpetrated on the people of that province. NB is also playing with the same idea in a province that is already one of the poorest in the country. I have to question why these stupid Liberals would want to do that to fellow Canadians?
  15. Dion's talk about reducing by 1/3 poverty over his first mandate, and child poverty by 50% over that same time frame. Well, politicians have been promising to totally eliminate child poverty by the year 2000, and here we are in 2008 and thif anything the problem has gotten far worse, and that happend at least for 15 years with a Liberal PM at the helm. Dion can promise whatever he likes, becasue he is just like most Liberal politicaisn they wouldn't know the truth if it jumped out and smacked them. It's treally nothing more that a feel good comment meant to initiate a new social program with another huge bureacracy to administer it.
  16. Many of the people who are going to be hurt by a carbon tax are the poor and working poor of this country who presently pay little or no income tax, so how is cutting income taxes going to help this large segment of the Canadian population? I'll tell you, it will not help them at all, and in fact they will suffer a loss of income due to the rising costs of virtually everything they pay for. The reality is that corporations although they whine and cry about their tax burden, they don't pay those taxes. For every expenditure they write of those expense on their tax returns, or they pass it on to consumers though increased pricing. Why is that politicians think people are stupid and can't observe those costs being passed down every time thery go to the supermarket for a loaf of bread or a jug of milk. In NB it was just annouced that because of the rising transportation costs the cost of a litre of milk will increase October 1st, by 3.5 cents. Poor people could not afford to purcahse milk for their children as it was, and they are going to raise the prices so even more people will have to stop buying it. We are not stupid Mr. Dion, and his roving band of misfits.
  17. The reality is that most Canadians do not trust the Liberals with anything that comes out of their mouths, because they have proven themselves to be liars and thieves. Dion talks about doing this or doing that for the economy when he knows full well that we are no different that most countries in the world, because the problems currently happening are global and whatever Dion is proposing will not fix it. We are a very little player in the global picture. Maybe it is time that Dion goes back to lecturing to naive idealist college kids who have no life experience, because working Canadians are not buying the crap he is selling. Unfortunately for the Liberal Party, but fortunately for us they will never form a government with Dion or anyone else from Liberal old boys club as their leader. Canadians have been lied to for so long and so often by the Liberals, that they simply have no credibility. If the Liberal caucus had any brains they would outright refuse to listen to Dion. I glad they are listening to his rantings because it very well could mean we could end up with a majority Conservative government. Dion is even despised in his own province, er sorry his citizenship if of France is it not, a gift from mommy?
  18. Spoken like a true Liberal who ignores the fact that the Liberal Party of Canada under both Chretien and Martin were the most corrupt in recent memory. Dion talks about imposing a tax that he has delusions himself into believing will be revenue neutral, Such a tax will be anything but revenue neutral for working Canadians, becasue they will be paying far more for virtually every thing they buy and every service they subscribe to, and no small income tax credit will negate the fact that the people of this country will end up out-of-pocket large sums of what presently is disposable income.
  19. All I can say is if the the Canadian Bar Association has to ask Jean Chretien to speak at their luncheon, they are really scarping the bottom of the barrel. Chretien with his anti-US stance has done more harm to Canada that China could ever do. Remember it is China that need Canada and the U.S to peddle their inferior products, we don't need them. In fact every multinational corporation who ahs moved their factories to China and other third world countries to exploit the captive slave market sweatshops in these countries, should have huge tariffs imposed on their good just to be able to export them to the West.
  20. What makes my blood boil is so-called immigrants like the Khadr family and their lobby group of morons. This is a family that although they live in Canada, the father was in Afghanistan trying to kill NATO troops of which many are Canadian. This is a family that cheered when 9/11 killed thousand of not only Americans but many from other countries, including Canada, as well as I'm sure many Muslims. This family is now lobbying government to expedite the release of another family member who is on trial as an enemy combatant and another is here in Canada sucking up healthcare dollars while his mother rants about her hate for the West including Canada. What needs to happens is to put her and her family along with the lawyers who are representing their cause onto the next plane back to the Middle East. If Canada were truly a country with any pride we would strip these activist liberal minded judges of any powers they have and replace them with an elected judiciary, one that is accountable to not only the people of this country but to the laws, how they are written, without their own activist spin on them. We can blame all that is happening in Canada today with regards to our loss of culture, morals and values directly on Pierre Trudeau. He and his cohorts are the ones who crafted this flawed piece of garbage they refer to as The Charter of Rights and Freedoms. I say flawed because this document confers more rights onto minorities and criminals than it does for the rest of us. We have a situation now in Canada where as the old saying goes; "The tail is wagging the dog, not the dog wagging his tail." Until we somehow wrest control and power away from leftist leaning socialists we as a country are doomed to fail. That is a sad scenario but nonetheless a true picture of where this once proud country is headed. What we need is to return to an immigration policy where immigrants are expected to assimilate themselves into Canadian society and give up this moronic thought of multiculturalism, because France is a perfect example to show that multiculturalism is a concept that can do nothing except destroy a society from within. We even have in this country already some extremist Muslims who are lobbying for Sharia Law provisions in dealing with people of the Muslim faith. Either one law for everyone, or we will end up with anarchy. Many would blindly go to the polls and cast a vote for the Liberal Party, even though Dion promises a Carbon-Tax, and also says that it will be revenue neutral for the government. It may be revenue neutral for the government, but it certainly won't be for the poor and middle class in this country, because the prices of everything are already on an steep upward climb because of high energy prices, and the only thing a carbon tax will do is further increased the prices of ALL goods and services in this country at the consumer level. At the corporate level as we all know they don't pay increases that would adversely affect their profit margins, they simply pass those increases along through increased pricing. It will be you and I that end up paying, and it many of you and I that wind up at the doors of the local food bank because we can no longer afford to put food on our tables and to also pay the utility bills, and that's all supposing that the food bank has any food on their shelves to give to you. Dion talks carbon-tax and along with that he and the NDP promise untold numbers of new socialist programs, that have to be paid for and my question has to be,; With dwindling surpluses, and Dion talking the government would have less money, how long do you think it will be before the other shoe fall and the Liberals announce that they have to raises taxes to pay for government operations? Myself I can already hear that shoe hitting the floor.
  21. Since the NDP stands for socialist policies similar to the Liberals, I want nothing to do with either. The little bit of money I have left after taxes, I want to decide where to spend it, and it certainly won't be on expensive and unsustainable socialist policies. It was quite telling when both the Liberals and the NDP came out against tax cuts, because they supposedly had already made plans where that money and more should be spent. It's my money, and I want to decide where it will be spent, not some socialist with an agenda, and not some bureaucrat who's only existance depends on a larger and larger share of tax tollars.
  22. I live in New Brunswick and the reality is that the people of New Brunswick were never given a say on our province becoming "Officially Bilingual," that was done by Richard Hatfield who was facing reelection and sine the French speaking people of this province traditionally voted only Liberal, so to entice them to vote P.C. he arbitrarily decalred NB to be "Officially Bilingual. The truth is that after almost 50 years less that 30% of the people in NB speak fluent French. Sure we have instituted a French Immersion Program, but according to former Education Minister and Acadian, Elvy Robichaud; "The French Immersion Program in New Brunswick was not designed, nor was it ever expected to produce fluently bilingual graduates." At best most graduates of teh French Immersion Program graduate classified as functionally bilingual and fluency, not functionality is the requirement for most government jobs, both federally and provincially. After Richard Hatfield, stupidly made his declaration without the input or the permissions of NB citizens forever saddled us with a situation wherre the majorit are now little more than 2nd class citizens. Then along came another P.C. moron, Bernard Lord and had this designation entrenched into the Constitution of Canada, again without input or premission of teh people. Any program or initiative which profoundly affects the lives of the people, as does bilingualism, the people should have been consulted and been able to vote, yeah or nay, before politicians are allowed to implement any changes.
  23. China says that they want to negotiate with the Dalai Lama but on under the precondition that; "China's position that it is open to talks with the Dalai Lama if he gives up his desire for independence, and acknowledges that Tibet and Taiwan are inseparable from China." I was always taught that to negotiate means "to communicate in search of mutual agreement." There can be negotiations as long as one party predetermines what the end result will be. China invaded Tibet in the 1950's and seized control of a sovereign country, and now China wants for these people to give up all hopes of someday returning their country to independence? The same applies to Taiwan, where the people have lived with freedom of choice for decades, and now the communists want Taiwan to give up the many freedoms they have come to expect, and become a society with no freedoms, no rights and a standard of life that is one of the worst in the world, and where the government allows their own people to starve, while they spend untold amounts of money to build a military which is basically being used to supress their own people.
  24. When you have the Chief Justice, Beverley McLaughlin lecturing to law students at a law school in New Zealand, and telling them; "They should be embolden enough to make law, whether the constitution of their country allows for that or not." or words to that affect. This tells us where these unelected and unaccountable justices heads are at, and that is scary, because they would likely be quite happy in making laws, and then ordering our elected representatives to draft legislation to reflect those laws. That to me is scary, and should be stopped immediately. Since our appointed Supreme Court Judiciary is unelected and unaccountable to anyone, including those that appointed them to office, it effectively means that they are really the people in charge of this country, and that is totally wrong. It also means at the end of the day they get to make decisions which our elected representatives would have no choice but to implement, and I for one want a country where the people have control over those that make the rules and laws, and presently that is not the case. If our elected representatives are not really in charge, them maybe it is time to abolish both the Senate and the Parliament of Canada, and instead elect the Supreme Court Judiciary to specific terms in office with a set number of terms they may sit, like two terms. If nothing else it would certainly make them conscious of what it is the public wants, before they make some of the asinine decisions like they have made in recent history.
  25. The reality is the the U.S. has been smart enough not to buy into the notion of multiculturalism as has Canada, much to the downfall of Canadian society. Instead of immigrants being expected to come here and become part of Canadian society, our traditions and customs, instead has been somehow changed to the multiculturalism promoters we are somehow supposed to adapt to foreign cultures. This has made Canada into a country with no culture at all. The U.S. still promotes themselves as a melting-pot and if immigrants want to come to America, it is they who must adapt to the American culture, not the other way around, and I say good for them. Even France has rethought their initial decision to buy into multiculturalism because it threatens their own culture. Muslims coming to France and other countries stupid enough to accept this utopian theme of multiculturalism are now finding the the immigrants expect these countries to change our laws and traditions to reflect the cultures they left. If they want to keep their religion, no problem, but they should not expect that Canadians should change our laws and traditions to accommodate the immigrant's beliefs.
