  1. And given the condition of the roads, you think the government does a good job? There isn't a province in Canada where the roads are not falling apart. The roads aren't a complete disaster. However governments have to get down to the business that is theirs.
  2. I tend to agree, but if the feds own the resource why does the province think they have any say in it.
  3. Yes there is a problem with it.....too many liars and deniers are unable to come to terms with it. Weak minds won't allow them to face the daunting reality, so they seek out any scrap of crap they can to hide behind and pretend it's not an issue. Pretty sad, actually. No it those brainwashed by the gloom and doom industry that don't want to face the fact they've been duped.
  4. Ooops there's a problem with global warming. http://www.leightonsmith.co.nz/Default.asp...ics&id=5201
  5. Because it doen't work as well. Apples and oranges. Everything could be. It's a question of what works the best.
  6. And aliens live among us, fact. Or how 'bout this one....George Bush ordered 9/11, fact! You get the picture. I would say your credibility was going to suffer but you don't have any.
  7. Actually business does make a profit. They build the roads and in Alberta also maintain them.
  8. Business could run it better. And for a profit. Then you could get a tax cut and they would only build bridges and roads where it made sense. Well maybe we should get business to run the government. The fact remains it is governments job to run the roads. I would get a tax cut if government were to get out of business that is not their business. An excellent example of that was a story on TV a few years ago about a town some where in eastern Ont. The mayor cut off all the special interest groups they had been handing out taxpayer money to. All these groups got together and took the mayor to court. As it turned out the judge sided with the mayor, saying there was nothing that said the mayor had to give these people dime one. His job was to see that the side walks, roads, sewer and water, and fire department were in operation. They went on to say, that as a result all taxes for two years were to be repaid to the taxpayers, and after that time the taxes would only be half of what they had been paying.
  9. Because that's the way it works the best.
  10. The cost of gas, licenses and other tax don't cover all of the costs of the huge infrastructure. They were talking about it in the United States this year about how the Interstate highway system was essentially a development program in the United States because even with the tax, the Feds had to kick in far more than they collected. The important thing is that the economy was built around the highways and that there was other positive outcomes as a result. That is, until the cost of fossil fuels started to go up. It becomes more and more expensive to maintain the infrastructure as the fuel goes up. The cost of everything goes up when fuel goes up. That's just an economic fact. The system works when government spends money on what they are suppose to spend it on. If they had spent the money they collect for plates and gas on the roads as they went there would be enough. For years they spent it on feel goods and neglected the roads and now they are in a game of catch up.
  11. I have never liked buses. To me they are just human cattle liners completely devoid any individual freedom of mobility.
  12. Unfortunately, it's true. Gas costs don't even come close to paying for streets and highways. Well i guess not when you consider they only spend a fraction of what is collected on the roads, and the feds collect the most and it's not even their responsibility. Then there's all those fees for license plates.
  13. There is no proof of man made global warming, fact. Get that through your head. Six percent less C02 than 1990. In 1990 we were in recession, so you would have a recession six percent worse with no chance of getting out of it. It is a matter of simple math to figure out what would have to be done and the Alberta government did it a few years ago. Any government that tried it would be dragged out onto the streets and strung up to the nearest light poles.
  14. Two things, those ridiculous targets can't be met, and there is no proof that they need to be.
  15. Do you know how ridiculous that sounds.
  16. I don't know if cat makes a big enough bulldozer for that.
  17. With any luck at all we'll be sending you a new round of global cooling that you can expect to arrive in a few days. Oh yeah, and with that we can also send you some natural gas so you can crank up the furnace.
  18. Just more of the same nonsense we've come to expect from you.
  19. I suspect Alberta sets the rules for resource development since it is a provincial responsibility and has nothing to do with the feds.
  20. Alliance Atlanta owns show case.
  21. The nearest bus stop around here is likely about ten miles away. It would be a long walk. When it's around -35 your next stop after catching the bus would likely be the hospital to be treated for frost bit.
  22. I don't know where you would find all that out. Alliance Atlanta is huge publicly traded multi national company that must turn a profit for the share holders. The CBC is not but should be.
  23. That's exactly what it is. I hope Harper doesn't cave into Quebecs extortion tactics.
