46,928,459 reasons to vote Harepr out
fellowtraveller replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
They don't want to hear the truth, which one more time and let's everybody sing along......the RCMP define VIP security. I actually know an RCMP member who worked VIP security, sometimes including PM security. Of course, everybody knows that the RCMP are recruited with a political bias, all the Liberal Mounties were fired five years ago and all new Mounties must swear allegiance to Harper in a secret ceremony. -
I have never heard CBC (TV or radio) call the federal govt anything but 'the Harper Government', often numerous times in the same short story. Critical story, of course. They rarely use any term of basic respect/civility either, like 'the Prime Minister' or 'Mr Harper' , just 'Harper'. Maybe the Tory talking heads are following their lead?

Alberta's next government

Dunno why the NDP keep sourpuss, chubby Mason as leader.Rachel Notley is a far more interesting person, a newer face, articulate etc...... They could rocket up to 5 seats with Notley leading. -
Alberta's Premier Ed Stelmach resigns

It most certainly is when compared to every other party in the province. Somehow Ted Morton has overlooked this in his leadership bid- all the Biblethumpers and prolifers have left the PCs and found a new home, except him. Too bad for Ted, it must be lonely. -

I love the way that deal is rigged. They cannot force you to join the union because your civil rights would be violated thereby, but your dues are deducted anyway. Welcome to Canuckistan. -
The CRTC, and Useage Based Billing.

It is all about the bundling and content.... Why buy Shaw basic cable for $45/month plus blah Internet service for another $40/month when you can get Netflix at $8/month with better content, and a smaller ISP service for about $30/month? Services like Netflix and the huge amount of content now downloaded are a massive threat to telecom companies, exp[ecially since many have invested in traditional content production/ provision too.... Bell, Shaw, Rogers, Telus etc have all looked at what has happened to the music industry and given a collective shudder. They cannot give up on UBB. I expect those four companies to be no more than 2 within a few years, if any survive. -

If they charged a small toll for American kids headed for titty bars they could pay for it in a couple of years.

I'm sure about 'the rest of it'. It all comes, all of it, from the $8billion Quebec gets from the feds in equalization. Federal money, provinical money, municipal money- all the same. With a new arena, they'll need $8.450 billion. The math is simple and the politics are standard for Canada. Of course Quebec doesn't want changes to any gas tax rules, that would be not having your cake and eating it too.

JUst f***ing with you, though as always I wonder what your opinion would be if exactly the same things were said by Ignatieff as by Harper. I also wonder why people think that Mubaraks replacement will be any different from Mubarak in anything but name? I hope few Egyptans die learning same.

Resurgence of Kill Switch Legislation

What do you mean, 'can and will'? The circumstances required for action are well short of anything as dramatic as revolution. For example, terrorist bombs are often set off with cell phone signals. In both the London and Madrid transit bombings, the first thing authorities did after the fatal blasts was to shut down all cell towers, in case more bombs were planted. Lack of towers means lack of capability t signal bombs, and the cops have their own communication networks independent of ours. -
I've been to two regional CSIS offices on business. They are the kind of people who wear their watch faces turned inwards in case they reveal the time of day. Tip: you are under surveillance at all times in or near a CSIS office. Street, lobby, elevator, offices, washrooms. Optical and electronic.

I see. So support for democracy is selective?

Me too,my dentist does have a German(Jewish?) name but I have never witnessed him wearing a yarmulke. I draw the line at doing anything at all to find out if he is circumsized.I may be the wrong person to investigate this whole scenario as I am pretty sure that Zionist Mind Control experts implanted a chip in my brain when I fell asleep at a Yanni concert in Athens in 2002. -
If support for democracy is not selective, why are you challenging the actions and statements of our democratically selected PM Harper?

I'm sure the bar tab for the CDN govt was far, far more than $600k! That would buy about one round at the United Nations. or look at it this way: over 200,000 civil servants, the $600k would buy a pint for about half of them, assuming the server got a bit of a tip.
