Do you really believe anything Bush says?
BigDookie6 replied to takeanumber's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Hugo, Eureka & Blackie... Please tell me where we are repeating history, and when will we fall like Rome? It must just be killing the three of you, that America is really the best country in the world! Isn't it amazing how so many people around the world want to come live here? Or that we have a natural "traditional warrior" mentality for Liberty & Justice, not just in America? Even if you are anti-war, it's pretty significant that we have an "all volunteer" military. What other country, that when they are attacked has such pride, willing to serve & die for what they believe is a good cause. (You can't say terrorists, because they serve only themselves) What do you say to all the volunteers after 9/11. Not only new volunteers but one's who re-enlisted? Or what about people like that professional Fball player? (Pat Tillman) Who gives up a multi-million $$$ contract to enlist in the Army's special forces? Then dies fighting in Afghanistan? There was no draft... People didn't even know when we were gonna be going to war, but were preparing! Pretty significant Canada! It's pretty godamn amazing, that we all know how corrupt & wealthy our govt. is, but look past that because we are not oppressed, nor do we oppress other nations. It kills countries like Canada and all over Europe because you envy our sense of pride, and can't stand the fact that we will NEVER conform to a New World Order. You can throw whatever negative facts, policies, procedures, attitudes, comparisons, history, etc. at us, (because that's all you can do) and will never phase us. We won't even budge! Resilliance! That is what makes Americans unique in the world. Hugo, Eureka, & Blackie... Quit trying to be an "elitist"... You're not in govt. and you're not in the Media! (If you were, you wouldn't be waisting your time on this site) Oppressed nations and people blame other governments and people for their misery, rather than looking at their own. I honestly could care less about Canadian govt. or people, not because I'm ignorant, but because I live here in America. And it's not to say that we don't care about what's going on in the world... I've mentioned previously, we have huge organizations that are contributing millions of dollars, food, hours to causes like protecting the environment, human rights, AIDS, natural disasters, education, technology, etc... What more do you want? A lot of this is done without government money, and even when it is govt. money, it's still our tax dollars! Outsourcing?? I know people are mad about this and you Canuks use it every chance you get. But I don't hear the countries we are employing complaining! It's funny, out of every negative fact, remark, personal attack on our people or govt., what we do here & there... We're still proud Americans! We put our pants on just like You! -
Understanding American taxes

Nothing to debate about here people! It's just how it works in most countries, and has always been like this! I'd rather it be like it is now than everyone having the same income. Some of the rich really did work hard for their money, and are entitled to the "perks"! I guarantee you that if any one of us became an instant multi-millionaire tomorrow, we'd be lobbying somebody for some sort of special interest! -

Kamerschein's web site Cute story but I think the numbers are a little off. The interesting point is whether the tenth guy will or can leave. Here's the Urban Legends take. It was just an example (idea) of how the system works August... Nobody was trying to be precise. -
Here's an idea that the world might like: The world is mad at the U.S. because they think we entered Iraq illegally. So be it... We can speculate, but still no concrete evidence. The world thinks our war on terror is misguided as well. Funny, never saw the rest of the world confront this?? Anyway, the war on terror is a touchy situation because we are not fighting any particular country. When GW is re-elected, lets just pull out all of our forces, and give Iraq to the terrorists! Let them become a "state"! They can continue "clitorechtemies" on women, torture their athletes, train more terrorists in camps, etc. Give them about three years to get this started. In GW's last year in office... We start dropping bombs! Big bombs! "Ladies & gentlemen, it is now 750 degrees and very cloudy in Iraq.... Thank you very much!" Then nobody could complain that it was illegal, and terrorists are wiped out!

When are you going to get it Blackie? People like you say the samething, yet America and her proud democracy are still around! What is it now... Going on 228 years? We must be doing something right! -
WARNING...Graphic... Make sure the kids are not viewing this. Download DivX before viewing in Media Player: DivX Then watch this video: Real face of terrorism Pretty sad that the world wants to criticize our policies, but this goes unmentioned! Talk about a double standard...

Democrats exclaim; "It's just a tax cut for the rich!", and it is just accepted to be fact. But what does that really mean? Just in case you are not completely clear on this issue, I hope the following will help. Let's put tax cuts in terms everyone can understand. Suppose that every day, ten men go out for dinner. The bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this: The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The seventh $7. The eighth $12. The ninth $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59. So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. "Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by $20." So, now dinner for the ten only cost $80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes. So, the first four men were unaffected. They would still eat for free. But what about the other six, the paying customers? How could they divvy up the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share'? The six men realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being 'PAID' to eat their meal. So, the restaurant owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay. And so: The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% savings). The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% savings). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings). Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to eat for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings. "I only got a dollar out of the $20," declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man "but he got $10!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than me!" "That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!" "Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!" The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn't show up for dinner, so the nine sat down and ate without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill! And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up at the table anymore. There are lots of good restaurants in Europe and the Caribbean. Thanks David R. Kamerschen, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor of Economics, U of Georgia

What's wrong with national interest? I'm a nationalist (not the Nazi type) and think every country should be! That's the problem you have with America... We love our sovereignty, and do not want to be "The United States of The World"! And you know what else? We still leave the door open to look out for world interest, at the same time. Just like Canada & Europe, we too have organizations (with millions of government free dollars) who are supporting Human, Animal & Environmental rights! How much more do you want us to dish out? Those values you are referring to don't seem to be working too well! Since that Iran incident, how many terrorists attacks have there been around the world? (hundreds!) Canada's weak attitude and sympathy really helped Russia, huh? If the world negotiated like Canada, and I were a terrorist... I would never stop because I could get whatever I wanted using fear! Sucks to be al-Qada or Taliban! Better than having my head cut off! Funny how the Geneva Convention only applies to the U.S. Oh please... Another weak Canadian! We released the one's who were found innocent. And yeah, they did deserve to be there. And NO, we did not torture or abuse all of them or even most of them. The prisoners we picked up in Iraq, do not represent, not even a tiny majority of Iraqi's! Stick with Comedy, Blackie... That's all you Canuks are good at! You people think you know so much about politics, but understand very little! -
I say we chop the heads off of all of the prisoners in Abu and Guantanamo, because nobody is condemning that!

Well believe it! Can't wait to see what you will say when Bush remains the President after the election! The "stupid" remarks don't cut it! I guess we've been stupid for the past 225 years now, and we're still here! And more are flooding our boarders to get in! Maybe it's the stupid opportunities?? -

No comparison to invading Iraq or U.S. policies! Try again... Hazing is not an atrocity. Since we're on the prison scandal... I myself would not take pics. with an ugly, hairy, naked Arab man. But could see why... Prisoners over there have to be interrogated. Some are cooperative some are not. One must exploit one's weakness in order to obtain certain information. Terrorism is serious business! What is one thing that Arab men cannot stand? Being naked in front of others or especially women. I myself would have used "truth serrum." But I am willing to bet you would still use that as a platform to bitch. "The U.S. is altering one's mind to obtain information! Human rights violation!" Funny how all you "peacenicks" are all about the environment, animal rights, and human rights... How do you balance it out or stay happy? Would you sue a bear if he maulled a human? Maybe we should be cutting off heads instead of dropping bombs! -

Who's in high school? The "duty"? Says who? Who made you "Mr. self-righteous"? So what are you doing to oppose what you mentioned, besides complaining? Thanks for letting me know that my government is corrupt! Where have you been for so long? Again I ask, how is it affecting you personally? Try not to dodge this time! As for you Eureka... WTF are you talking about? Your first four paragraphs were, "huh?" I'll only comment on your last two, as they made a little sense: You're right... Most of the world disagreed with the invasion. But this isn't a popularity contest. If the UN said, "Jump" would you say, "How high?" Or maybe countries disagreed because they were afraid of being exposed for the "Oil for food" scandal?? (Can you say that the UN is being exposed?) Funny you never mention that one! Who are you or even Canada to say, we do not have the right to sacrifice a single life? Why don't you say that to the thousands who volunteer yearly to serve in the U.S. military and willingly sacrifice their rights for a certain amount of time? War is war Eureka, and it's not pretty. It's human nature. At least we're not committing atrocities! "We come to right wrongs..." Yep...Sadaam! That's all I needed to be convinced! Where have you been? You also left out that we are also being deceived by the British government not just the Bush Admin. Evaluate for what things are, not what you want them to be! -

What does it matter? You live in Canada, right? Let me ask you... If Bush and U.S. foreign policy bother you so much, explain to me how they personally affect you? Does our foreign policy oppress you? Keep you from getting a good job? Going to school? Does it affect your unemployment/healthcare benefits? Minimum wage? Immigration? STFU -

Sure, why not? Yeah, I figured that... Just wondering why you felt the need to shove it in everyone's face? Something we already know! Are we playing "DodgeBall"? You worry about Martin, and we'll worry about Halliburton. He was skiing! Shouldn't you have known this? Guns, guns, and more guns! Curling? NRA? No comparison! You obviously know who the NRA is and what they are about... Still trying to figure out Curling?? Eureka wrote: You really believe that Bush has a compulsive disorder? And now you say that you think he is psychotic? Based on what? Because you insinuate something you read to be true, when in fact there's still no concrete evidence? Gee, you'd think with all the Bush hate floating around the world, that if they had specific evidence that you are charging him with, they would bring him up on charges. Even if he were brought up on charges, still doesn't make him pathological or psychotic! Evaluate yourself, delusional, parranoid Eureka! I read the same news as everyone else, and we all interpret it differently. Not once do I recall Bush lied, about Iraq, yet the media, and people like you are still trying to find something to say he did. Find it yet? Because my interpretation was that Wolrd leaders and Intel lied to Bush, he believed it and went from there. The world hates him because he is firm on beliefs and decisions, that differ from theirs. This is not a world election, but a U.S. election! Yes I do know their responses. Iraqi's are greatful for taking down the regime. They do not like our occupation, but know we are not targeting Iraqi's. I also know that military rotations have been set for the next 7 years for the Mid East. Were you so naive to believe that this was going to be a piece of cake? Or knew, but needed a reason to complain no matter what. Whether you like what we did or not, it needed to be done. The UN had ample opprotunities to fix this but failed over and over, and have lost credibility with the "Oil for food" scandal. You can't change my mind Eureka! When are you going to figure out that Iraq was a haven for terrorists and that Sadaam was a WMD? They haven't increased, they've always been around. Where have you been? Ask a terrorist who they would vote for: Bush or Kerry? There answer will be the one we do not want as our President! 50% of us do not depend on the government for jobs! And the government only controls 33% of our economy. So I guess only 50% feel lied to?? We supported Bush going into Iraq, and the $87 billion to do it. What you say about our defecit is true, we knew that... How many billions do you think we lost on 9/11 contributed to that defecit? This would have been SOP (standard operating procedure) for any President. And he is capable of running the country from Air Force1... Assessing the situation, like any president should be. This is a sensible tax cut. Not Bush's fault that each and every state had a "special interest" dipping into the budget while under Clinton., wasting our tax dollars. I agree! Definitely should have had a better plan before invading. But that doesn't mean we are or will fail, or that he lied! At least Bush didn't go on a 10 day bombing campaign and used NATO to do it! Lets see... Sadaam fools the world for 10 years (hiding WMD's, kicking out weapons inspectors, burying MIG 25's, abusing the "oil for food" program, etc.) Needless to say, harboring terrorists. The U.S. finally does something about it, regardless of naive countries, and we're the bad guy? Evil is evil... war crimes or genocide! Either term equals "atrocities" in which we are not committing in Iraq. So did Sadaam accidentally murder his own people? Maybe Bush nuked the Kurds?? This is just one article (There were many) And I didn't pull this from the U.S. media (trying to be fair here...) Mass grave sites Take heed to the part where it said, "Forty sites confirmed..." We made it clear that we are not attacking Iraqi's! Even went out of our way to drop "leaflets" and broadcast over megaphones in their language, protecting civillians, mosques, etc. If we attacked a sovereign nation, we would have wiped them out! We took out the Iraqi Army, and are now fighting terrorists, not Iraqi's. I think they are clear on this! We know what's going on! Funny how you really don't know what's going on with Canada (no choice on healthcare, criminals can vote, permanent residency vs. non-permanent social issues, high unemployement rate [with a tiny population], the list goes on...) But you are first to let us know what you think of America. And what we need to do! I love defending America, and will not attack Canada! -

Sorry Bush didn't react the way you would have liked (What am I saying? I don't need to apologize for anything, or justify Bush's actions on 9/11!) Common sense would tell you; Secret Service, security, and his admin were running the show. I'm sure there is a "contingency" for the President, Vice Pres. and other important, high profiled staff (What to do? Where to go?) when the country has been attacked. What reminds you of his National Guard Service? -

Hey "Newfie"... Nice signature! I guess Canadians wouldn't feel that way if Canada was an independent country! Everything wrong with Canada, you blame America! America is Canada's "welfare system" and your government sold you out! You guys ever get your tax dollars back when Paul Martin sold you down the river with his steamship company? Oh wait... You guys never even got an explanation! I'm surprised Canada wasn't blaming the Bush Admin for that one! (hehe) What was "Crusty Creitien" doing when ALL of the worlds major leaders were attending the funeral of Jordan's king? Skiing? Smoking dope? -

Where to begin?? So much crap floating around in here, time to clean-up! I'm just going to pick all of you apart.... Look up the word "pathological." Perhaps you are delusional and schizophrenic. I can't stand the man, but do not think he is a pathological liar. His mouth? Or what the media thinks he meant? Have you been to Iraq since the war started? Know any servicemen/women serving over there right now, or just came back? If so, do you communicate with them on a regular basis? Reason I ask is because I know many people over there whom I talk to on a regular basis (some everyday) and their story differ from what the "headlines" report. We all know the huge media corporations are in a "truth war" right now, and will only report deaths and problems in Iraq, not progress. Did you or anybody else in the world have other ideas or prospects on who to appoint as Iraqi PM? Since 9/11, not only the U.S. but also the Intl. Community has disrupted cells, finances, killed and even captured al-Qada members. Almost on a daily basis. Sounds like progress to me! The 50-75% that Bush was referring to was a "ballpark" figure, and probably pretty close. You left out that he also mentioned (to avoid arguments like yours) that these were CIA based figures. Not a number that he came up with on his own. God I hope you are not a U.S. citizen who votes! I hope you are not a Canadian voter either! I know Youngstown, NY is dense, but I didn't think it's people were! Weird... 50% of America thinks it's better, 50% thinks it's worse! Outsourcing... (this one's weird too) Constantly hear complaints of this one. Americans (Libs & Conserv.) are pissed off because we are taking low paying jobs from Americans and giving them to other countries. But Liberals want a globalized economy, but not outsourcing, in which it is just boosting the economy of that country and providing many jobs, which they did not have before. Bottom line is, America is helping the world's unemployment rate. I would especially think that the Liberals & Dems are happy about that! And GW's fault, not the State's? Funny, I thought it was common knowledge that ALL politicians do this, not just Pres. Bush! Can you say LOBBY? Just how politics work! I think we were all running around like a dog on 9/11! Imagine the pressure ANY president would feel, when his country is attacked?? At least he didn't curl up in a ball or drop a hasty "nuke"! I guess we'll see come election day! Lemme see; have I got this straight? Clinton awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Yugoslavia - good... Bush awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Iraq - bad... Clinton spends 77 billion on war in Serbia - good... Bush spends 87 billion in Iraq - bad... Stock market crashes in 2000 under Clinton - good... Economy on upswing under Bush - bad... Every year an independent tax watchdog group analyzes the average tax burden on Americans, and then calculates the "Tax Freedom Day". This is the day after which the money you earn goes to you, not the government. This year, tax freedom day was April 11th. That's t he earliest it has been since 1991. It's latest day ever was May 2nd, which occurred in 2000. Notice anything special about those dates? Recently, John Kerry gave a speech in which he claimed Americans are actually paying more taxes under Bush, despite the tax cuts. He gave no explanation and provided no data for this claim. Another interesting fact: Both George Bush and John Kerry are wealthy men. Bush owns only one home, his ranch in Texas. Kerry owns 4 mansions, all worth several million dollars. (His ski resort home in Idaho is an old barn brought over from Europe in pieces. Not your average A-frame). Bush paid $250,000 in taxes this year; Kerry paid $90,000. Does that sound right? The man who wants to raise your taxes obviously has figured out a way to avoid paying his own. Clinton imposes regime change in Serbia - good... Bush imposes regime change in Iraq - bad... Clinton bombs Christian Serbs on behalf of Muslim Albanian terrorists- good... Bush liberates 25 million from a genocidal dictator - bad... Clinton bombs Chinese embassy - good... Bush bombs terrorist camps - bad... Clinton commits felonies while in office - good... Bush lands on aircraft carrier in jumpsuit - bad... No mass graves found in Serbia - good... No WMD found Iraq - bad... Bush destroys training camps in Afghanistan - bad... Milosevic not yet convicted - good... Saddam turned over for trial - bad... People like you are scary, and glad you are not in government. Keep ignoring the real situations BD!
