American policy shifting away from Israel?
bud replied to Post To The Left's topic in The Rest of the World
so what? so have every other administration. they have all criticized the expansion of settlements which are both recognized illegal internationally and go against the roadmap. so what? the war is not on islam. you're criticizing obama for trying to reach out? for that was not supposed to be in public. regardless, i'm sure sarkozy and obama are not the only politicians who see natanyahu and the israeli government being liars. you failed to show how obama has been against israel. every u.s. action and ruling has been in support of israel and aipac. what is wrong with you people? -
the liberal governments in the past 2 decades can hardly be called left wingers. they have been a typical right leaning party who try to pass themselves off as the voice for the majority. most environmental policies are usually shot down by corporate lobbying and pressure. furthermore, targets were not met when the liberals were in power, but at least there was some attempt at changing and bettering the system.

one day, hopefully not when it's too late, you will understand that the economy and the environment have a link. once we've killed the environment, the economy will go down with it. more and more economist are coming out with a new formula where they include environmental consequences into the equation concerning the economy. warren buffett recently purchased a sonar energy company where 160,000 homes can be powered by a sonar farm. guess what this company can do? create jobs and create clean energy. don't be afraid of evolving your way of thinking and your view on how things can be. those who are unable to evolve and adapt usually get left behind.

manufacturing jobs are disappearing due to environmental laws or due to low wages in the developing world? you think it's the environmental laws that have us making $9 minimum wage, as compared to 30 cents a day in the developing world? what a joke.

or southern state's sodomy laws where the justification would be: "don't worry! straight people can't have bum sex either!"

American policy shifting away from Israel?

i ask again, how can you say that? how have they abandoned israel? did obama stop the $3 billion dollar/year gift? no. he renewed it. did obama stop supporting israel in the UN? no. he's supported israel in every situation. did obama stop supporting or threaten to support israel while it continued to not only break international law but also the roadmap which says that israel should not build settlements on palestinian land? no. he let it go despite israel's repeated mockery of any rules, regulations and agreements. you and jbg live in some strange alternate universe where reality just bounces off your heads. -
the palestinians seem to be having difficulty negotiating with the netanyahu/lieberman lead bulldozer equiped peace team. obama and the us congress insist that such negotiations are the only way peace can be secured.

not sure what you guys have been smoking, but obama has not done anything to show that he doesn't support israel. unless if you can show me a list of obama's actions that have been anti-israel. -
how about you educate yourself first by reading this post which is a respond to your typical historical revisionism. or as usual, you can remain silent when someone corrects you and not acknowledge how you`re not here to be 'educated`, but to spread propaganda for your team.

america's support for israel has become unsustainable. however, as long as the money from lobby groups such as AIPAC are flowing into campaigns of congressman/women and senators, then their policy will continue to favour israel. notice that people like panetta and gutman do not run election campaigns and are not financially backed by AIPAC, so they have nothing to lose by speaking the truth. the big change that i've noticed happening are the american people finally acknowledging and also questioning the foreign aid that u.s. gives out. we're seeing more and more discontent in regards to the $3 billion a year to israel. -
this march is a desperate attempt at holding onto an ideology that is slowly fading. jews outside of israel are losing interest in israel. the jewish youth especially has lost interest in supporting israel mostly due to not relating.

palestine was not the first option for a state. some of the early plans for jewish resettlement were not even formally nationalist: they made no claim to a state. resettlement in a british colony, such as uganda, was for a time the most serious option. the negotiations came to nothing - but the idea influenced british policy, when palestine became a british mandate territory, after the first world war.

egypt and tunisia created their own opportunity for democracy. america's intervention in afghanistan was not only undemocratic but it also alienated a large portion of the population. this is why, 10 years forward we're not seeing a majority united for democracy in afghanistan. america's recipe for democracy is not working and has not worked. it has been a complete failure.

it's through time that these countries can experience true justice and human rights. unfortunately, outside meddling by various countries slow down this process and may even prevent it. perhaps the parties elected by the eygptians can flush out the old regime which still has power through the military.

will "majority" of canadians be able to remember all these things by the time the next elections roll around or will their attention span and abused housewife syndrome make them vote for the conservatives again? -

you are trying to justify israel's actions by saying: "so what? others are doing it." you cannot equate the treatment of palestinians by israel to the treatment of palestinians by the arab neighbours. why? because: israel is annexing palestinian land. the arab neighbours are not. israel is bulldozing palestinian homes on palestinian land. the arab neighbours are not. israel has forced hundreds of thousands of palestinians out of their homes and are not letting them back in. the arab neighbours are not. israel is in breach of international law as outlined by the international criminal court. the arab neighbours are not. this is why your comparison between the arab neighbour's treatment of palestinians and the israeli treatment of palestinians cannot be taken seriously. any reasonable and logical person who is not here to justify and propagate israel's interests would not make such a nonsensical comparison.

army guy is using a familiar tactic in justifying israeli actions. he tries to brush aside israel's actions by trying to equate them to other governments' actions. governments which he would, in other debates, call backwards and undemocratic. it's typical and expected of hasbara bots who are here to excuse and justify israeli actions. i'm happy to say that "army guy" doesn't represent most of the canadian military people that i know and met.

here are children with guns from around the world, who are encouraged, forced and brainwashed by adults to defend whatever belief they want them to: a child soldier in chad. a child soldier in thailand. jewish settler children learning early. the list goes on.
