Flags Over Westchester County, New York, USA
ft.niagara replied to jbg's topic in Canada / United States Relations
On my way to and from work there is an underpass of two bridges for two two land highways. Inbetween the two bridges there is a small white cross with DAD on it with a year. It has been there for several years now. -
Good grief. Relax, for godsake. I guess that establishes there's a Jewish lobby though! The problem is that through the use of a Jewish lobby, the foreign policy of a major country is being effected by a small percentage of the populace, possibly to the detriment of the major country (US). Israel offers no strategic benefit to the US. It will be interesting to see if the Democrat win will have a negative impact on that policy. This is exactly what I was getting at people like this poster or Gerry who make sweeping generalizations about the alleged Jewish lobby and how it monpolizes power for only the good of a few. The above comments and the comments of Gerry or no different only the above comments are more blatant and less subtle in their blanket generalizations. The above is just the same lie that has been promulgated for 4,000 years that Jews are these sinister evil creatures that manipulate the masses through their nefarious influence. I challenge the above poster to actually substantiate how the Jewish lobby is in fact manipulating foreign policy to the detriment of the U.S. This is clearly a person's subjective feeling. It is not only the Jewish lobby, it is the Christian lobby, and the Military Industrial Complex lobby who lobby for Israel. The fact is there is no benefit for the United States to arm Israel to the teeth with jets, helicopters, bombs for the possible use of Israel territory, for what? Apache helicopters are American helicopters to those in the middle east whether they are flown by Americans or Israelis. The American people are sorry for what happened to the Jews during WWII, but being sorry for what happened by Europeans should not shackel the United States to a virtual guarantee of Israel's existance. It is the Europeans, the Germans, the French, the Polish who should provide the guarantee. Any of those European countries who provided names and bodies for the ovens during WWII should provide the guarantee. Your contention that the US needs Israel to test weapons for sale arbroad is laughable. Where did you get that one? Again, the US is the evil one, even in its protective posture on Israel, it is just a self serving ploy. If that is not a matter of opinion, I do not what is. Unsubstatiated bias? Why should any American soldier die for the defense of Israel? When a soldier takes the oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States it does not mean protect and defend Iraq, or Taiwan, or Israel. Most Jews are antimilitary except when it comes to Israel, but the irony is that it is Israel which is the wellspring of much of the hatred and military misadventures from terrorist events on down. Who is ultimately enforcing the NEVER AGAIN promice, Americans. It is my contention that Americans can not and should not be the eternal enforcer. I do not know if this answers what you asked, but how about you address some of my points. Why should the US be responsible for brokering peace deals? Why should the US be responsible for bankrolling the peace deals? Israel is half way around the world. The US is basicly a secular country with some religious roots. Being the birth place for Christianity is no big deal to me. I do not believe in the Armageddon of the Book of Revelation. In fact, as mad as you might have been about reading my short post, your response just reinforces my opinion in the matter. I read now that the black Democrats are now more powerful than ever. As I said in my origional post, given the Democratic antimilitary tilt, plus the Black antiJewish tilt, it will be interesting to see how the next few years play out for Israel/US relations.

Eventually, it will be English speaking Canada who will want separation from French speaking Canada, not the other way around. -
The Greatest Crisis In Modern History
ft.niagara replied to PolyNewbie's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I think polynewbe's critics have not listened to his link. This is a very long video and takes too much time for those visiting this forum. It has just as possible a take on things as any other. As far as flouride, I do not think that it is a conspiracy to poison people, but there is logic to the criticism of its use in the drinking water as a medicine which is only applicable to a segment of the population whose teeth are under construction (the young). In its higher levels, it is poisonous, just as is the mercury in fillings, which has been an issue to many. -

There are many countries smaller than Quebec and still viable. Europe is full of them. -
Elton John denounces organized religion
ft.niagara replied to theloniusfleabag's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
I think Jewish religion, and some others do not look for converts. Christianity offers information, "the good news". Neither force themselves on people. Islim has used force I understand. Homosexuality is considered taboo in all religions I know of, especially Islim. As far as creating their own kind of world, at least there is no danger of homosexuals trying to create a homosexual world, because as a result the world would die out of humans at least. -
Hosting gay sports, doesn't pay
ft.niagara replied to Leafless's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Transfer money? You mean that Alberta transfers money to Quebec to keep them happy? Quebec is resource rich: water, timber, minerals, hydroelectric, tourism. Maybe they should be getting some money subsidy from France for keeping the hometown language going. I am sure that Quebec expected the gay population of North America would travel there to see the games. It was a tourism promotion that backfired. But you never know, perhaps like Gay Pride Day, maybe it will catch on. -

That is the kookiest thing I've heard in a very long time. Can I ask, are you a heterosexual? Dear Gerry, Rather than diverting the issue, is homosexuality a lifestyle, a condition, a disease, what is it, or what do you think it is? BTW, do you like hockey? A hat trick is a three goal night. Is there any signifigance to the number three for you? -

We pay while Indians live in luxury
ft.niagara replied to geoffrey's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Sorry, lease payments are not acceptable under any conditions. If the SCC rules that private property owners would have to start making such payments then you can bet that the constitution would be changed within a year to protect those property owners. You can also bet that the Canadian gov't would be able to convince the various international bodies that such a move was a necessary compromise. There is a town in New York State, Salamanca, which reverted to indian control in the 1990s. The houses are owned by the white, and the land by the indian, and lease payments are made to the indian. The people in the town get cheaper gas though. The indians tried to get back Grand Island, but that was shot down after ten years in the courts though. -

I would say many people feel this way. However, 'banning religion' will never work. Just as 'banning homosexuality' wouldn't work. I'd rather see an all out debate about 'Which is the one true god?" (Or scripture...and the evidence for or against the existence of god, and 'truthfulness' of all religious texts, to be put to a worldwide trial) Instead of debating God, why not debate homosexuality, historically, emotionally, is it a disease or a consition or is it just a liftstyle, its place (function) in society. Personally, I see homosexuality somewhat like I see celibacy: a chosen sexual lifestyle. It does not serve the societal purpose of procreation, but celibacy does not either. -
It is easy to post for the opposition. All you do is get a news item, change some names, and places perhaps, and bam you post it. Probably you could set up a computer bot program to do that.

Better break a few arbitrary "laws" that protect serious wrongdoers than die. You can not make an omlette without breaking a few eggs. To get rid of the infestation, you have to drain the swamp..... -

How? Attack was imminent. Surrender? Ah, but attack was not at all imminent. Who are you to comment on what is substantially dependent or not? How would you know a countries needs, and thresholds. I can make educated comparisons. Ah, but how would you know an attack was not at all imminent? Were you there? I know, tea leaves and educated comparisons. AND Educated comparisons to what? That is your answer to 'How do you know'? Kind of silly if you ask me. -
I am disappointed in Keith Oberman. I think that MSNBC has formed itself into being the antiFoxNews. They had to define themselves, so they went to the left, and be antiBush for their definition. Once Bush and the Iraq War are history, one wonders where they will go. Over half the states have banned gay marriage, and I think most of the country is conservative. This vote was an antiIraq vote. The Republicans will have to redefine themselves, and the pendulum will swing back and forth. I doubt that it will take another 40 years for the Republicans to make a come back though, at least I hope not.
