Sona Sentencing Hearing Underway
Bryan replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Three different court cases, not ONE SINGLE piece of evidence. Not ONE SINGLE witness even came forward to claim that they even received one of the calls. The entire thing was a fabrication by the National Post, that the fresh of the MSM was only happy to jump onto without doing any investigation, and that the NDP and the Council of Canadians took great delight in piling even more fabrications onto. -

Nor anyone who had any connection to anything outside of Guelph. No eveidence that a single person outside of Guelph received any calls, no evidence of the CIMS being accessed, nothing other than shenanigans in one riding that was full of shenanigans by both the LPC and CPC candidates. -
BC teachers in court as province appeals decision

All parties should. The clause is there for a reason. -
BC teachers in court as province appeals decision
Bryan replied to cybercoma's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Even if they lose the appeal, the BC govt can (and absolutely should) just apply the not-withstanding clause. The Feds should be doing this too when courts interfere with policy. -
If Brian Mulroney had stayed on for the 1993 election?
Bryan replied to windyman's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
People forget that The PCs were doing very well in the polls at the beginning of the 93 election. It wasn't until Campbell insisted she was not going to talk about policy during a campaign, and ran the ad mocking Chretien's facial paralysis that PC support dropped like a rock. -
Should Women/Men Pay Different Rates for the CPP?
Bryan replied to August1991's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
You haven't posted anything to back up your claim of women being paid less. None of those stats say that any salaries were specifically categorized by gender. That's what people want to see: show me a job posting that lists different expected salaries for men vs women. Without that, you can be ignoring all sorts of other factors that have nothing to do with employers choosing to pay less. Are women working less hours? Are they taking more time off? Are they simply choosing to apply for positions that happen to be lower paying? When negotiating a starting salary, are they asking for less? Have their co-workers been asking for raises while they haven't? Etc, etc... -

The NDP and LPC MPs who got nailed for their illegal robocalls only got a small fine. It'll be very interesting to see if justice is dealt in an equal manner or not. -
Cutting The Cord -- How to leave cable companies?
Bryan replied to August1991's topic in Arts and Culture
With CBC, any hope of balance was already in the dumpster. There are plenty of other (far more credible) news outlets around. -
Exactly. They under promised and over delivered. It's bizarre to criticize someone for doing better than they had planned to. All that means is they get to start enacting further tax breaks even earlier. Now, if they DIDN'T return the surplus to the taxpayers, and they continued to have ever increasing surpluses, then there'd be reason to be concerned because that crosses over from sound fiscal management to just over-charging the tax payers.

Gas prices went DOWN before this long weekend, and kept going down! $1.05l/litre around here yesterday. The price at every station is different, they're setting their own price based on speculation on what they think they'll pay for the next shipment.

Fair dealings applies to everyone. What the media consortium are trying to do is completely illegal, already backed up by previous court decisions. What the government is contemplating isn't really necessary, because the law is already on their side. All they're really doing is clarifying the written law so that it lines up with the case law.

I second The Walking Dead premiere as being a tremendous way to start off the season. It really was a great episode. I cheered out loud for bad-ass Carol. I loved the non-linear timeline. Hooray for Tyreese finally snapping out of his "I can't" funk too. I'm very excited to see how Gareth ends up back with the group (as seen in the trailer). After what we've seen, it seems impossible that they would trust him and take him in willingly, and I'm pretty certain that he was shot on the roof of Terminus while the group made their escape, so he's going to need medical attention as well. Why would they help him?? I can't wait! And yeah, It's not really a zombie show in the George A. Romero sense of the genre. It's the story of people surviving chaos. You could easily change the disaster/threat with any number of other scenarios and still tell essentially the same tales with these characters.

False premise.

I never said "the Jews". Don't poison the well.

You're wrong there too.
-
Neither.

Israel are the primary perpetrators of the violence, so why should the Palestinians tolerate it?
-
True, the Conservative MPs have had much more voting freedom than previous governments.

I haven't heard that before. What was the provision they neglected? -
They've gone up. That's what inflation is.
-
Prices for plenty of things have peaked and valleyed in that time frame.
-
Yup. It is a LOT like the Global Warming debate in that you're stating an obvious universal natural factor (in this case inflation), and attributing it to something irrelevant.
-
Everywhere. Crude is at $90/barrel, and I paid $1.11/litre at the pump yesterday.
