  1. I've read it several times. Unlike you, I even know the context that passages were written in, and who they do and do not apply to.
  2. There's a fundamental difference. Someone committing terrorist acts is directly disobeying Jesus. He's not a following Christ by any measure. Someone committing terrorist acts in the name of Allah is following Mohammed to the letter.
  3. No you couldn't.
  4. Do you know what the sword that Jesus speaks of is?
  5. Not websites: I own two copies of it, as well as several study commentaries. Being untruthful? Yes, bad for most people. A doctrine of their faith for Muslims.
  6. I've read it -- have you?
  7. An excellent example of taqiyya. You'll note that she didn't actually name the Sura that forgiveness quote is from. Why? Because it's not in there. It's an apocryphal saying that later Muslims claim was inscribed on Mohammed's sword -- the sword he used to murder people with.
  8. It means a few of us are able to speak on this topic from a position of knowledge, while you (like some others) are not.
  9. Jesus categorically denounced violence, and he lived by example. Mohammed ordered his followers to commit violence and he lived by example.
  10. You can reject the ideology without rejecting the person. As long as they denounce the prophet and throw out their Koran and hadith, everything's cool.
  11. The television product itself has declined considerably since Rogers took over (even the CBC broadcasts are produced for them by Rogers now). It's no wonder that people aren't watching. If your team isn't doing well, that's bad enough. But if the broadcast is torture to begin with, it doesn't take much of a reason for people to tune out.
  12. Who has suggested that?
  13. They probably would be largely the same: Canadians would see little of the benefit.
  14. Absolutely not. Their vitriol against him started before he was even chosen as party leader.
  15. It was a well thought out, very intelligent reaction. So is this: House Votes to Restrict Travel by Foreigners Who Visited Iraq, Syria
  16. Censor is stopping someone from expressing their views. Censure is rebuking or penalizing the speaker for making those views known.
  17. It absolutely was not. It was the correct course of action for the situation that presented itself. Due diligence that may not be necessary is much better than being sorry you weren't more careful later.
  18. It wasn't wrong then, it isn't wrong now.
  19. The problem with that is, the govt could just step in a buy all the capacity, effectively shutting down the private option. That's essentially what they did with Maples Clinic as an backdoor way to get rid of private MRIs.0.
  20. That differs by province. Privately billed MRIs are not allowed in Manitoba. One company tried, but the govt put a stop to it. I think we should have private billed care in Manitoba, but it's a good thing to keep the two completely separate to preserve the integrity of the public system. People of means can pay to get out of the queue, making the wait less for the public. If the same place is doing both, there's no efficiency and it sets things up for abuse where the cash patient could bump the public one.
  21. Regarding wait times -- I still can't complain too much. The posted expected wait times on provincial web sites are exponentially longer than anything I've ever sen in person. For example: The current wait time for MRIs in Manitoba is listed at 23+ weeks. I injured my knee in jiu-jitsu last month, and I got an MRI in two days. Having had several injuries over the years from contact sports, I've had the "pleasure" of needing an MRI several times (as has my son). We've never waited more than a week, and sometimes even gotten one within a few hours. So, the MRI revealed a torn ACL and meniscus. That meant my Doc needed to refer me to a knee surgeon for a consult. I saw the surgeon 6 days later.
  22. There's a lot of data collected and managed by CIHI. I've subscribed to their reports for quite some time -- it's very informative. They post a lot of data on their Facebook feed as well.
  23. There's nothing phobic about opposing an ideology that preaches death and violence.
  24. There is a substantial difference.
  25. I would definitely want to help someone being attacked like that, but me getting diced up too isn't going to help anyone. Call the police. See if there is anything around that you can use as a weapon. But get within 25 feet of him while unarmed? Not a chance -- I have to think about my wife and kids too.
