  1. Methinks thou dost project too much.
  2. You don't even know what a shill is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shill If I'm paying THEM, and I'm telling you about it, that very specifically makes me NOT a shill.
  3. Exponentially worse than the PCs have been in Manitoba. We have balanced budget legislation here in Manitoba, yet the NDP managed to put us almost a billion in the hole before the recession even started. They raided billions from Manitoba Hydro and turned them from a tremendous asset to a liability. Healthcare and family services are the worst they've ever been in Manitoba. WRHA, and the Community Access Centres have been a total disaster. Family services has especially been a huge money pit that keeps reducing services while ramping up costs. The whole thing needs to be gutted.
  4. Paying shill? What the hell does that even mean? I support the party out of MY pocket, and that somehow makes me beholden to THEM? You need to adjust your tinfoil hat. The fact remains, Andrew Potter is lying. Loewen never worked for the federal Conservatives, and he most certainly never worked for Stephen Harper. Only Potter claims he did. His own source, Tom Flanagan, says Potter is not telling the truth: The only thing he ever did, was the very thing that both Lilly and Levant have been perfectly open about: Loewen and Flanagan exchanged some data by email after the election in 2004 http://blogs.canoe.ca/lilleyspad/cbc/andrewpotterdoesntknowsquat/
  5. You think Levant is a mormon?
  6. Wyly, NDP provincial government's did not campaign on promises to tax and spend to anywhere near the degrees that they do federally. We do know, however, that the provincial NDP here in Manitoba have a proven track record of spending far more than their predecessors with little to nothing to show for it. Fiscally, the difference between the NDP and the PC's here in Manitoba is staggering. It's probably going to take 10 years to recover from the damage Seligner did.
  7. But you accept Andrew Potter's? Really?
  8. Read the article I linked to a few posts back. He never worked for the Conservatives.
  9. The reason it doesn't mention that is they already checked that claim out, and found out it wasn't true. http://ezralevant.com/2011/04/andrew-pottymouth.html
  10. There's no doubt that the press is cheerleading for the Liberals, Their bias is obvious, but that's nothing new.
  11. The biggest difference is that in 1984 and 1993, the "gaffe" was sonething the candidate actually said or did. The arts funding issue was completely different in that it wasn't even true, it was a total fabrication of the media. Arts funding was not cut, it was increased substantially.
  12. Nothing spectacular aside from being the best PM this country has had in at least 40 years.
  13. Get involved. You don't sit at home and hope to change a riding, you have to take it over.
  14. In theory, you would be right. In practice, the guy who tossed all that aside has maintained the longest serving minority government in our history. It's the basic difference between left and right. Lefties main purpose is to change things from how they are to how they feel things should be. Their argument is with reality. Righties look at reality and find a way to work within it. Harper found a way to govern with a united opposition constantly trying to take him out. That's not the way lefties wish it were, so obviously they hate that. Sucks to be them.
  15. Traditionally. In an era where 50-60 seats in Quebec are permanently out of play, things have to change.
  16. Part of the problem is that few issues are truly national. Examples: Health care is of particular interest in Ontario, whereas in Manitoba things are damn good. Tough on crime plays poorly in Quebec, but it's a huge vote getter in the west. My MP is pushing the tough on crime in her riding. Not only because it goes over well in this area, but she's a police officer so it's of particular importance to her.
  17. Given the circumstances, the Government did the right thing. There are certain things you are not going to give to the opposition, regardless of the composition of the parliament. You can bleat "parliament is supreme" all you want, you're still not getting information that the government deems is not for public consumption. You are getting far too hung up on tradition, and not taking into account the reality of governing with a minority and a united opposition playing non stop gotcha games. To keep going back to the traditions and ceremony is not taking the current circumstances seriously. Executive privilege may not be written into our system, but a minority government that is taking governing seriously is going to try to assert it where ever it can anyway.
  18. Two people were kicked out, one of them has disrupted several CPC events, including one last week in Guelph.
  19. Besides the fact that you can promise anything you want if you're never going be Prime Minister, my biggest concern is that Jack keeps making promises like this that seem reasonable at first blush until you realize that most of what he talks about is a provincial jurisdiction, not federal.
  20. Now the truth comes out.. these students were professional protesters. It wasn't the picture of Ignatieff that flagged them as troublemakers, it was something else they posted on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2212298927&v=wall That's right, "Enviro Club". The same group that has caused disruptions at several of PM Harper's appearances over the past few years. Lot's more here: http://blackrod.blogspot.com/2011/04/inventing-scandal-what-msm-didnt-tell.html
  21. The Post are the most consistently reliable news source we have in Canada.
  22. "the Association for the Rights of Whites"? Is it OK to use language like that now then?
  23. http://blogs.canoe.ca/eyeonthehill/liberals/liberal-candidate-called-aboriginals-featherheads-says-theyre-lazy-over-to-you-ignatieff/ Not that I think for a minute that this reflects the LPC, but if irrelevant gotchas are fair game against the CPC on this board, it's worth at least documenting LPC members doing similar things, since every time you mention that they do, the lefties on this board pretend nothing like this ever happens. I'm very interested to see how the CBC spins this to make it sound positive to the LPC. I'm guessing they'll hail Ignatieff as a hero for turfing the guy (as opposed to how they vilify Harper when he gets rid of someone who's done something dumb).
  24. Canada to lead growth, says OECD http://www.ottawacitizen.com/business/fp/Canada+lead+growth+says+OECD/4560813/story.html Out pacing the G7, outpacing most economists forecasts too. Kevin page? Ha! Remember what our economy was like under the Liberals whenever the US economy took even a slight downturn? The saying was "they get a cold, we get pneumonia".
