Greens Not Welcome At Televised Debate
Bryan replied to ToadBrother's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Even the major parties can't consistently live up to this standard. People drop out, EDA's get caught by snap elections when they are between scheduled meetings, not to mention deaths, retirements, etc... Last I checked, nobody had a full slate for this election. -
Greens Not Welcome At Televised Debate
Bryan replied to ToadBrother's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Christian Heritage, Animal Alliance Environment Voters, Pirate Party, Marijuana..... Could you imagine? Maybe CPAC would agree to do one round table type segment with the leaders of all of the as-yet-unelected national parties that are actually running a slate of candidates. That might even prove interesting, and Ms. May could be involved in that. -
But they have been offering lower rates. Some of the lowest rates in history. Interest rates are not the problem. Irresponsible and/or uneducated people are the problem.

http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2011/03/29/37-days-liberal-cousins-at-odds-on-taxes/ This going to get VERY interesting. Iggy will have a fun dance on his hands trying to defend his policies without saying Ontario is out to lunch.

Greens Not Welcome At Televised Debate
Bryan replied to ToadBrother's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't think anyone's opinion on May's personality or suitability to lead a national party are an issue. How many votes she got is even of very little importance, IMO. What's important is that she's been given every opportunity in the wold, opportunities other fledgling parties never got. Not only has she repeatedly failed to win a seat as the leader of the party, her entire party has never elected a single member. She should come back if/when she wins her seat, and The Green Party itself should be much smarter about the economy of their vote. Concentrate all national efforts on one sole task: win one seat for your leader. Spend all your time and resources in that one riding throughout the campaign. PROVE people wrong. If THAT doesn't work, then you really are no different from any other fringe party, and have no business at the main table anyway. -
Getting low interest credit is actually really easy, even for people with bad histories. I don't believe that even Jack thinks that lower credit card interest is actually a solution to anything. There are plenty of people who want government to bail them out of all of their own messes, and he's just pandering to those people. If Jack was really serious about saving low income people who are bad at math from their own financial self-destruction, what he should propose is stricter means testing with regards to credit card limits so that they cannot get themselves into a hole that they can't climb out of.

Coalition: September 2004, December 2008 & Now
Bryan replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What's crystal clear in the 1997 video is that Harper is lamenting the fragmented right-of-centre vote. As with 2004, the evidence of his intent is in what he actually DID. He united the right-of-centre parties, THEN presented that option to the people on the ballot in the next election. Compare that to last election where the Liberals specifically promised NOT to form a coalition, then tried to do precisely that. There is a fundamental difference, not only in practice but in integrity. -
At the risk of invoking the wrath of Harry for reposting the same data I posted earlier (again ): http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=18384&view=findpost&p=644647

No. It's good to see all the trend lines.

That's funny, it just showed up on Canada.com today. Two sites posting the same poll two different days. Oops. I forgot The Gazette was a Post paper. I'm not familiar with them at all... I just saw what looked like a trend of 40+ for CPC.

Bryan replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No one on Harper's side is embarrassed at all, and they sure are not trying to make any distance. That's why they keep posting the full press conference so that you can go ahead and listen to what the 2004 issue was all about, It's information we WANT people to see, so that the lefties will stop lying about it. -
We finally have a government _ Us !
Bryan replied to Oleg Bach's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Sorry to burst your bubble, but The Conservatives are still the government. They are still running the daily business, that does not stop just because of an election. -
Coalition: September 2004, December 2008 & Now
Bryan replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not at all. Harper wants the MSM to keep asking because he knows that the facts are on his side. There never was any coalition in 2004, no one claimed that there was, and anyone who says differently is lying. It's that simple. Why would the opposition want to be continually exposed as the liars they clearly are? As for Flanagan, I wonder if you even read the linked article. The headline makes for nice sensationalism, but it doesn't match what Flanagan actually said in the interview: He also admits he wasn't actually there anyway. -
Skin colour matters in access to good jobs: study
Bryan replied to Shwa's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
And yet people still occupy that land. Funny that. -
Considering that the Conservatives have lowered people's taxes considerably, tax time is the best time for the CPC to have an election. It reminds people how much better off they are now than they were under the Liberals. What makes it a bad time (for Manitobans at least) is it's flood fighting time. People are not happy the Liberals around here for causing an election now.

The old 99 year lease trick. The Russians are still crying about that one with regards to Alaska. Cuba says it about Guantanamo too. -
That's a +1 campaign promise, the kind of thing the Liberals need to avoid a complete collapse.. It probably won't work at all if it's like other Liberal spending promises, but it doesn't have to. It would still sound like enough of a good thing to be able to just announce it and not be scrutinized by the MSM.

Federal Elections 2011: Seat Predictions
Bryan replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That site is crazy. They're still calling St. Boniface too close to call? They called it TCTC in 2008 too, and Shelly got nearly as many votes as the LPC and NDP candidates combined! -
Can you tell my wife that?

Angus Reid was the most accurate in 2008. http://www.visioncritical.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/2008.10.15_Election.pdf

2011 Liberal-NDP Coalition is already in action?
Bryan replied to YEGmann's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Every time they speak on politics. You should watch sometime. Don Martin is even easier, just read any of his Post columns, he was their token lefty. -

CTV has never been pro-CPC in their political coverage. Craig Oliver, Jane Taber, Don Martin, and Robert Fife are all hardcore Liberal cheerleaders. -
So your policy is to trust Google's algorithms to tell you if info is important rather than to just go to the source? Seriously? edit>>> sorry Michael, please disregard. I misread the order of those last few posts, and thought that link was a rebuttal to your post....then I actually read the link...oops, sorry..
