Hey, that works for me - I love Hungarian anything - especially goulash & paprikash! Growing up in the blue collar Shwa, we had neighbours from Hungary, Poland, Ukraine, Austria, Germany, Russia. Borscht? I thought it was just beet soup! -

Ontario Teachers Unions vs. PC Leader

Suck it up buttercup. Our society is based on "rackets" and if you want to be the first to challenge the freedom of association, please let us know how that works out in the courts for you. -
From the Star this morning: Alcohol can cause cancer in men, women: study In other words, it can still get you. Now I am sure this is bad news for all the party airplane beer companies, but if you get drunk enough, you become unaware of the dangers getting drunk enough will cause. Here is the article from BMJ: Alcohol attributable burden of incidence of cancer in eight European countries based on results from prospective cohort study

So are you saying that the Prime Minister directed the RCMP to ignore the security clearance of Bruce Carson?

And their publicly stated views are not "priority items?" So it's OK to hire criminals, so long as the services rendered are OK? Sure, a slip up. Let's move on. An unfortunate accident. Riiiiight. And the LPC should shut down the riding association, period. Revive it once the election is over. It is not like any LPC votes in Manicougan are going to count for much. Unless for money grubbing for chump change, in which case some things are more important than principles. No shit Sherlock. -

You have got to be kidding me GWiz. Do you think there should be a carte blanche for everyone that 'filled out the paperwork' and then leave it at that? For a federal candidate, no vetting of the candidate application by the riding association at all? Incompetence, plain and simple. Idefensible incompetence, not to mention that it is highly unlikely that more than a few in the riding association or LPC members in that riding had no idea of his history. Which all goes to illustrate the rot that a lot of former LPC members complain about. It isn't necessarily rot at the top, it is rot in the roots and lower branches. And until the LPC start pruning off the dead weight and doing a better job at attracting the right kind of candidate - you know, actual 'liberals' - then the preception remains. And both you and I know, the perception remains. -

No, this is MORE relevant: Did you know at both that at both Meech Lake and Charlottetown they served goulash? Hungarian goulash! Now, tell me why they did that?? I think it was convention. Or convention food. Or had been convention. But the complete (non-)irony of them serving Hungarian goulash at those two events, when we know that Ignatieff's wife is *gasp* Hungarian-born... And what's with that name "Ignatieff?" Sounds Eastern Bloc to me... be afraid... Well, I will tell you. I bet she serves a mean goulash. Hungarian style... -

Facts. OK, let's see if we can sort this out: Carson got clearance from low- to mid-level official The Privy Council is now conducting a "review" of it's security-screening procedures. OK, by why should they - don't they come under the Financial Administration Act? Security Clearance Form Here's the Government Security Policy Here is Schedule 1.1: Back to the Star story: Ironically, it seems like Bruce Carson is telling the truth at this point...

Quebec Liberal candidate accused of being a white supremecist
Shwa replied to Bryan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Oh is that what you call it?? I was wondering. That changes things a bit. So should the old sayings now be: 'do bears confusion in the woods?' or 'this car runs like confusion' or 'confusion or get off the pot' ? -

Of course. If he gets to be Prime Minister, she will have a role somewhere. And we will have to pay for her meals and lodgings too. More "welfare" for the immigrants is what I am sure we will hear. -

Is that the point though - what they 'wanted?' Curious - you are a chief advocate for accountability, but when it is presented, it is a mere "distraction." The problem being is that the LPC have no problem raising the issue about Carson, shady dealings, unsavory types as current election issues with the CPC, but God forbid someone would want to take the LPC to task for not knowing who their representatives are. In an age when I can simply Google someone in 10 seconds. Let me emphasize: their representatives. That is shoddy and it's an issue. It is not like the guy went off the deep-end just recently. He has a history. A real leader would have closed down and suspended the riding association right there and then or have it completely replaced. And why is that? For gross incompetence. Are you telling me the riding association had no idea about this guy's past remarks and associations? If they didn't, gross incompetence; if they did and let it slide, gross incompetence. Would it more than a "distraction" if he had said something about the Jews or Blacks? -
Do public sector employees contribute to tax revenue?

Do public sector employees contribute to tax revenue?
Shwa replied to Bryan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It crushes your argument right out of the box. In fact, I believe that your argument was crushed before it even got out of the box because you don't understand government revenue streams properly enough to form a coherent opinion. Of the labour - or work - is an irrelevant red herring that what do you think is being taxed on the public employee's paycheque? -
The voices are probably telling him that.

I disagree since people are actually voting for the candidate in their riding and this sort of thing is disturbing. If all you want is some schmuck to toe the party line, why bother with local candidates in the first place? Just vote for the leader. What is most disturbing is that this sort of candidate wasn't vetted properly by the LPC or was, and wasn't reported as anything to be concerned about. It's not like he was working in the PMO with RCMP security checks or like the Durham NDP candidate McKeever in 2008 who was 'resigned' for speaking out of turn, this guy has been around for awhile. Someone would have known his past associations and comments and it wasn't picked up by the party executive? Why wasn't it picked up by the riding association? Surely they must have known about the guy. You know, a Google search or something at least. I find that hard to believe that didn't know. One would think that the "leaders plans" would include knowing about the unsavory characters in his party. In this modern electronic age, it shouldn't be too hard to screen out the nutcases. -
