  1. Chirp and run is your style then is it? There are interesting, period. No one is trying to develop the ultimate science of football or turn into a pro coach. The whole point of fans discussion is "...perception, memory and bias..." So you got your idea of worth turned around son. Rely on them for what? Some sort of objective datasets that can be input into a determinative algorithm to sort rankings? Some sort of objective quality system? Let's put it this way - I would trust the opionion of a Championship winning coach over what you have to say about his opinion - any day. "Judge them" for what purpose? For a discussion on an Internet forum we need to see 400 angles of film, slow motion and determinative calculations? LOFL! Really? This is what you think?? Based on what? Sounds like a bunch of "...perception, memory and bias..." to me. LOFL! Then why don't you bring some "facts" to the discussion instead of your opinion of the discussion itself? Yeah, I can see why psychology would be so important to you when discussing football. It's because you're nuts.
  2. Is it a widely held view though? Because that is what the point is boiling down to. Regardless if the differences are shrinking or not, the view is widely held and bears up under a large statistical sample. Or how many foregn students come to Canada to study plumbing and framing. (see chart 8) Yeah, so you and I know that. I tell my kids this. However, not only are your chances of employment better, so are the chances of getting a better job. You might think so, but sometimes the Timmies stays open while the plant closes. .Are you dismissing the fact that a university education will result in a better income, but is not a motivating factor for "a widely held view?" It's not the percentage of sample, but overall sample size. For example, in your sample, what neighbourhoods do those families live in? 30% of a million is a little more significant than 80% of 10 don't you agree? Everything is up for grabs providing there is a will toward it. What race is a "visible minority?"
  3. Yeah, so... what do you know? I've only been watching - on TV and in the stands - football for about 40 years now. Of course, I turn the sound off on broadcasts so I can make up my own analysis because the guys on TV have no clue. Back to Butkus - yeah, I think he would be fined alot, but in comparison to LT (a player from another generation) - not a whole lot more. Well not on the field maybe. Plus they never really kept stats on Butkus' ability to force fumbles, you know like Giants DE Umenyiora who forced 10 this year. OMG Jack, I just compared a DE to a generational LB! O-M-G!!
  4. I think automatically dismissing a generational comparison or discussion of players without any backing argument or proof is a sign of idiocy. What a dumb thing to say. Let's never compare receivers with cornerbacks. Duh. Only because you say so which, without any corresponding reasons for saying so, asserts that you are an idiot. No shit Sherlock, let me guess, Bills fan right? I think that is why they have "analysts" on TV -many of them coaches that have access to illustrate different angles. Etc.
  5. It's called WalMart.
  6. Well how much does your single-mother-without-a-car pay for gas?
  7. And for food and goods.
  8. So that's what the the "media" is supposed to do. Oh, now I get it. Thank you for this thoroughly insightful comment about the "media."
  9. What the hell are taxes for?
  10. So are you going to actually discuss the content of the article and give a faithful examination of the assertions there? Or do you only have enough brains to dismiss it is "illogical left wing rant" because you are ashamed that some of the content that the 'Old Leftist's' article might actually be true? PS - I would suggest a search of these forums for "left-wing media bias" to see how that notion has recently been completely dismantled.
  11. This should be interesting, anyone taking bets? Target may have to use different name in Canada
  12. True, but in context of political influence I think the Star is right there precisely because it is only GTA and surrounding areas. (Metroland is also moving into Ottawa as well) By being able to focus on the issues of the most populous region in the country, they have some national clout nonetheless.
  13. That's 'Tar-jey' to comply with official blingualism...
  14. My point is this: a health Troy Polamalu is going to turn a mediocre defence into a good one and what he does at safety opens quite a few doors with respect to what linebackers can do. Sure, the Steeler LB core is very good, but they are better because Polamalu is there. They wouldn't be getting the same looks with Donte Whitner or TJ Ward. Of course, everyone makes mistakes. Even James Farrior. My beef about Woodson is that when he is off his game he is terrible. When Polamalu is off he is average or injured. Yeah, Butkus was pretty good, even playing on horribly mediocre teams. In fact, he WAS the Bears D for years. Ray Lewis has only one Super Bowl win + MVP and then some 7 playoff appearances. Heck, even LT played for only 2 Super Bowl teams.
  15. No, it is still and widely held idea and the statistics more or less prove it. That the advantage for a degree over a dimploma or certificate has been slipping is true, but you are more likely to get a job with a university degree than a certificate or diploma. Not only are you more likely to be employed, but the second table shows you are likely to be paid more and, over the longer term, much more. So the advantages for the university degree are very apparent. Well, the data you supplied indicates that the 4 Smith kids we have data for should have an employment rate of about 73% (2 university graduates at 82.6% plus 2 highschool dropouts at 63% = 72.8%) It would be if your sample was 8 people. The Charter can be challenged and the Supreme Court can make decisions based on such challenges including whether a challenge has merit in the first place. The reason I am saying it is a nothing idea - and where the concept diverges from women's suffrage - is that by definition, employment equity is not institutionalized racism.
  16. The Sun editorial makes some good points. Censorship’s dire state
  17. Only if someone complains about it. Anonymously.
  18. So this miniseries about the Kennedy's, commissioned in part by the History Channel in the US, won't be airing on their network because, Meanhwile, back at their website, they are happy to air 'Ancient Aliens,' 'Armageddon' and 'Nostradamus Effect.' All, as we know, very "historical."
  19. So here comes Target. Target to open more than 100 Canadian stores Well, at least we'll officially be in on the joke now.
  20. Did they do it to themselves(us?) Decision Media Release Any bets on how long it takes them to retract?
  21. He's referring to the flame venting out at the Dofasco (?) steel mill... that is Hamilton "glitz." Unless he is talking about this kind of "glitz" at the Anvil Club.
  22. Chill dre, it's FUN. If FUN isn't important to you, then, you know, change the channel dude.
  23. Yep, and sometimes Cincy. I love northern football for some reason. Perhaps it is playing in the outdoors in a blizzard or frozen muck that has something to do with it, a little less comfy living room precision and more wide open. A little more blue-collar rougher. No billion dollar stadium, or palms trees for this style. Hey Don't knock the Lions, the won their last four and 6 of their losses were by less that a TD. Da Bears squeeked by them twice. In the first game, Johnson did score and everyone knew it. In the second game they lost by four. Against the Pack they lost by two and then beat them. A couple of plays here and there and they would have had a memorable season. So they still stink, just not as bad. Pack, then Bears, then Steelers. Although the Ravens are looking awfully good, dunno if the Steelers beat them. But any team that has Troy Polamalu, well, ya gotta respect that defence. Be careful Butkus, Lewis carries a gun.
