  1. Pretty funny OP. Those liberals chanting is ALSO an expression of free speech. Look... college campuses are full of students and teachers... both strong liberal demographics. Its just naturally going to be an unfriendly place for conservative idealogues, just like if a liberal ideologue tried to give a speech at a chamber of commerce meeting, or an old folks home. He would get booed. Too bad.... So sad. Part of "freedom of speech", is that you CAN shout someone down and tell them to go fvck themselves if they say things you think are gross.
  2. Crime rates, violent crime rates, murder rates, attempted murder rates. We compare fairly well with our peers. The system can be improved, but "tearing it down" and starting over again would just be flat out dumb, and your assertion is just meaningless rhetoric calling for something stupid that both of us know is never going to happen.. For the most part its just all British common-law. It has served us pretty well for many decades. And the courts in general are pretty much the only entity that stands up for your rights and mine, and protects us from "government gone wild" whether is conservative idiots, or liberal idiots that happen to be running the country. The courts are the ONLY part of government in this country where professionalism is still valued. The judges are people picked from our own populations, and for the most part they are really smart people... They know 100 times as much about the law as you EVER will. And my opinion is based on my own experiences. I FEEL like I'm safe from crime. I can walk down any street in my city at night with confidence. I find that overall we have an environment that's easy to operate in.
  3. Thats because non-muslims live in structured secular societies for the most part. Things are done differently. Take the war in Iraq for example though... A predominantly christian army, complete with priests, chaplins, etc, was sent by a president that said Jesus told him to do it, and they killed or got killed about 1/2 a million muslims.
  4. Actually the opinions that I have seen the post line up pretty well with most Canadians. Yours however do not. Also... attacking someones patriotism as a method to win an argument is something only morons do.
  5. Why would you tear down one of the most effective judicial systems in human history? That may be the case, but they have already served their time for those crimes, and they are innocent of new charges until proven guilty. In extreme circumstances bail IS withheld, but again that should be very rare. The state should not be able to just accuse you of something, and throw you in jail without a trial. And all we need to do to reduce backlogs, is stop dragging people through the courts on frivalous charges like using soft drugs, or growing pot.
  6. Militant minded western conservatives are casting Islam as an evil existential threat, and militant minded muslim conservatives are casting the west as an evil existential threat. These are really the exact same kind of folks, just born on opposite sides that divide.
  7. Thats true most conservatives are not a problem. But its conservatives on both sides that are ones causing the problem, and spouting all kinds of inflammatory rhetoric on both sides. The most conservative muslims are the also the most militant, and the most conservative westerners are as well. Like I said... I wish they could just fight to death in a big stadium and leave everyone else out of it. I would buy front row seats.
  8. I think that's paranoia. I also think that even if a law WAS made that made criticizing Islam illegal the courts would strike it down the first time it was challenged.
  9. No no no... To be a net contributor you need produce or cause to be produced more than you consume. A permanent welfare recipient clearly does not do that. However the immigrant unemployment rate is only a tiny bit higher than the unemployment rate as a whole, so this is normally not the case. That's a narrow view. Educating people to provide the skills the economy needs is one of the most important economic activities we engage in. You need to look at the big picture. That senior has paid into his pension and payed taxes his whole life, and is now spending the proceeds into the economy. Seniors right now are creating a massive amount of jobs in health care, and assisted living, and they are paying for a lot of it themselves, or their families are paying for it. At least part of that is our own fault. We have an obsession with regulation and compliance, that prevents many immigrants and Canadians as well from applying their skills. There's all kinds of barriers that we create. For example... we have a chronic shortage of family physicians, but thousands of good doctors who have aced our medical exams and gotten certified, still cant work because they cant get residency slots, and because the certification process is controlled by "medical associations" that also negotiate for doctors wages, and have an interest in creating artificial scarcity to drive up prices. Well, I wouldn't say I'm "bothered". This is a super easy place to make money and have a good life. Immigration policy has not been a barrier to my success. But I do agree we should bring in the right immigrants for our economy. Sometimes those people will be highly skilled professionals, and sometimes they will be laborers. In any case if the economy is your concern there's a lot of bigger fish to fry than immigration. We should try to build a more productive activity. Canadian business owners lack creativity and innovation. We are too used to just cutting down trees, or digging holes in the ground.
  10. Ok... try to follow along. You accused him/her of being an extreme leftist, and I asked you to name an extreme position he has taken. You replied with some nonsense that did not even attempt to constitute a germane reply. Lets try it again... go slow... think it through.
  11. "White people" are not your race. You don't speak for them. You don't represent them. And most white people find white nationalism just as disgusting as anyone else. White people don't have a homogeneous set of "interests", they are a collection of individuals with diverse interests and every opinion under the sun. White people are ashamed of people like you so stop trying to pretend you are looking out for anyone besides yourself.
  12. Since youre throwing around stupid accusation, can please link me a single extreme opinion that Omni has ever had? I'm not saying he hasn't had any but I have seen one. Is this like one of those Argus insults where fling your own feces at the wall, hope something sticks, then abandon thread when youre asked to back your shit up?
  13. No they should just have to be likely to be be net contributors to the economy within a few years of arrival. How much money they put in government coffers is not how you measure the economic contribution of person in a service based economy unless you don't understand economics. We have millions of net contributors that don't pay taxes. A senior living off their savings, a business owner that invests all his profits back into the company, or depreciates or takes depreciation on capitalizable assets. A student that is going to school to acquire the skills to make this country successful in the future. A corporation that pays all its net profits out in dividends. A house flipper that builds or buys a house and lives in for a year then sells it tax free (but increases the size of the money supply by the size of his loan and spends that all into the economy creating jobs for other Canadians). In a service based economy the most important thing you can do for the economy is to buy goods and services from others. Taxation is a tiny bit player. A regional policy would still be stupid though, because even if theres a lower percentage of good immigrants in those other areas there is still millions of useful people that could contribute. So if you want to increase the amount of people we let in for economic reasons that's fine, but any individual from anywhere should have a chance to be considered based on that new criteria.
  14. Three little problems here... 1. You cant freaking read. 2. Your question is stupid. 3. I already answered it. I absolutely reject ANY laws regarding religion. You should not be forced to do anything at all. Not one single canadian law should even mention any of the religions derived from the despicable maggot, Abraham. And you and muslims can hate on each other all you want, and insult each other all you want. But break the law and its off to jail. Go ahead and have your little culture war... couldnt care less. In fact Iv posted a few times, that I would love to see militant minded conservative westerners and militant minded conservative muslims fight to the bloody death in a big stadium full of sticks, stones, clubs, and swords. The spectacle would amuse me. Not to make for the most profitable pay-per-view event in the history of television. Tonight on Fox!: Conservadome!
  15. Show me where? (get ready for crickets). Show me where I post anything emotion at all (get ready for crickets). Do you read well? I gave you numbers based on $40k which is the AVERAGE for a cab driver in my province. Well yeah... That is exactly the point you tried to make. I quoted it. People read it. You try to make stuff up, and then end up having to try to divorce yourself from your own statements. That depends on the individual. Do you own a home or realestate? If you do then the value of those investments is driven by new demand for housing, much of which comes from new immigrants. Within a few years immigrants will account for 100% of our population growth. Go and look at realestate values in a town with a contracting population VS a town with a growing population. Report back to me. Do you have investments in stocks? Because the value of stocks is based on predicted future demand for the products and services they sell, and much of the new demand for products and services come from new Canadians. BTW your latest made up fact, was the claim that our cab driver receives "10's of thousands of dollars" in government assistance (day care and such). Got a source for THAT bullshit? I think we both know you don't and so does everyone else reading.
  16. Well thats just more silly hyperbole like your "invading my country" crap. BUT... we CAN find a bit of common ground in that I completely reject the idea of having ANY laws that prevent people from criticizing or insulting religion, especially ones that target one specific religion whether thats Islam, Judaism, or any other creepy wierdo cult. So if somebody tries to make the kind of law you are worried about I will be on your side. Right now though all we have is a women thats peacefully engaging the political process about something shes concerned about.
  17. What does not accepting them mean? Does it mean you rant about them on a message board all day? That's fine. Does it mean you just don't like them and wont be their friends? Thats fine. Does it mean you will vote for parties that want to restrict muslim immigration? That's fine. The only time its not fine is when your non-acceptance crosses the line and you break the law, or directly incite others to do so.
  18. Its a strawman. I don't support Islam. I think its a completely bogus set of beliefs, that encourages bad behavior in many of its followers. But pretty much everyone has at least some beliefs that I find disturbing... My opinion is that people have the right to think and believe unpopular or abhorrent things, and should be judged instead on how they act. And I don't see any evidence that our Muslim population commits more problematic acts than any other immigrant group, or than Canadians as a whole. Just like I find your racist, xenophobic mindset disgusting, but as long as you behave and don't go out and start committing hate crimes I believe you have the right to be a xenophobic racist. You should not be punished simply from what you think or believe.
  19. And you're free to keep raping small children (an equally unsupported accusation).
  20. People rarely change their minds in places like this. Because in general people that spend a lot of time sitting on the internet arguing about politics are partisan ideologues that take politics a bit too seriously. Its not accusation against others, as I fit into that category too. I don't really care what fake got immigrants might choose to believe it. I would need compelling DATA to change my mind... for example... statistics showing muslims commit murders or other crimes at a much higher rate than other immigrants. But in the US for example they are actually LESS likely to commit murder than other Americans which means each time you let a muslim in the murder rate actually goes down a tiny bit. An "argument" is not going to change my mind unless its accompanied by a dataset that I find credible and compelling. The islamaphobes on here are always missing that one key thing... evidence. I cant help but be reminded of this... Start it at the 1:30 mark...
  21. Apples and oranges. Job interviews are objective, and you are only allowed to ask certain kinds of questions, and the applicant has a recourse if you break the rules (discrimination lawsuit). Which of course is exactly what would happen if anyone ever failed your values test. Our constitution places limits on what our government can do, not just to Canadians, but to foreigners as well. The very first thing that would happen is an immigration attorney would sue the government and the interview process would be put under a public microscope. As for your claims about your history of job interviews readers will probably take them with a grain of salt like they do the rest of your claims. But even if they are true, if you have interviewed based on the criteria you have described you have broken the law and put your company at risk of losing a law suit. You can NOT ask questions that are purely person. You cant ask a candidate if he values women less than men. You cant ask him if he has a family. You cant ask him his age. You cant ask him if he beats his wife. You cant ask any questions about his gender or sexual alignment. You cant ask any questions about his religion. You cant ask any questions AT ALL that are not directly related to evaluating his ability to perform the duties that are posted in writing on the posted job description. I learned this the hard way. I thought it was a good idea to ask a candidate if they had a family, because I figured someone with a family to support would likely be more stable and more motivated. HR got wind of it and I got my ass chewed out. So this whole refrain of "if you think job interviews are useful you MUST think "values screening" are useful? Well that dog just don't hunt. So its going to have get boarded in your ever expanding kennel of other dogs, because none of them hunt either.
  22. I didnt stomp around like an angry child, I calmly and rationally threw your bullshit back in your face. This is your pet issue not mine, I barely care about it. You claimed your imaginary cab driver pays no taxes... That's completely false, and Im sure your avid readers noticed you did not even try to defend the claim in your reply. Cool story bro, but you don't know the first thing about our tax system OR our economy, and every post your write drives it home. The fact that you keep trying to judge peoples total economic contribution based on tax receipts and government expenditures alone is astonishing. You need to look at a persons balance of trade. Do they produce, or cause to be produced, more than their total consumption. You could pay nothing in taxes at all, and still be a net contributor. You don't even know what an economy is, and that statement makes it crystal clear. The entire economy is derived from people selling goods and services and labor, and buying goods and services and labor from others with the proceeds. We are near what economists consider full employment. You are ALWAYS going to have tens of thousands of unemployed people. If you deny that our money is created through bank loans, then you dont even have a vague idea what money is, and should really stay out of topics about economics. 97% of our money supply was created in this way... through loans just like the one I described where a developer finances a new housing development. Here's a basic primer for you... Ya gotta start somewhere I guess, and you have to pretty much start from scratch. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money_creation
