If there's evidence he was motivated by hatred of Muslims I think the police ought to share that. They have in previous cases. Were there all kinds of hate sites on his computer? Pamphlets in the house? Did he say he hates Muslims? I really don't see how telling this would interfere with the investigation. If Mr. Socks is going to try and bring in new legislation to 'dismantle' hate groups, I'd like to see what justification, if any, there is before it's introduced.

I think we can all accept that the pandemic and lockdowns have put enormous stress on a lot of Canadians. That may be related to a job or may not. The mere fact that you have to be wary every time you go out, every time you're near someone will cause weaker minded people to develop a ton of stress and anxiety. Lack of socialization can add to depression and anxiety too. That's particularly so if cooped up alone in a small apartment, or perhaps worse, with people you don't want to be cooped up with.

So the science changed after multiple studies, but you can still pass on the disease if asymptomatic. It's not rare at all.
Research early in the pandemic suggested that the rate of asymptomatic infections could be as high as 81%. But a meta-analysis published last month1, which included 13 studies involving 21,708 people, calculated the rate of asymptomatic presentation to be 17%.

No one has ever lied about the masks. It's always been made clear that unless your mask is an N95 or something else with a filter it doesn't provide a whole lot of protection. That's not the point of masks. The point is that covid has a very long incubation period, and also that many of those who get it don't know they have it. So they go around spreading it everywhere. So telling people to only wear it when you're sick became obviously inadequate. Having everyone wear them means that those who don't know they're sick have much less of a chance of spreading the disease.

Atlas is a radiologist and well out of his depth talking about infectious diseases. He looks at x-rays and MRIs for a living.
