  1. So where's the proof?
  2. And when did the opposition do that? Again...all accusation, no proof. Lets see some.
  3. Really? I don't even think they work in the US, nevermind here. Slide over some of that proof and then we'll talk.
  4. You're assuming that the people in within the CPC aren't as stupid as you. I've seen little evidence to prove that's true. Furthermore, no one that has said these ads work have proved that they do. I'd like to see some. I doubt I will but I'd like to see it.
  5. So show me the stats where Harper airs these ads and then Liberal numbers plummet. The only time that's happened is when Ignatieff said he was pulling the plug and he's been through multiple rounds of these ads.
  6. There's always an excuse. Even if Harper had a majority, there still would be an excuse. Take some responsibility.
  7. This isn't a serious answer. There has to be infrastructure here (which creates jobs) to handle airplanes. I don't know if you've ever flown out of pearson but every major airline (including Emirates) has cargo terminals and places to prepare things for flights such as food. Not to mention the people they have to hire for baggage and the infrastructure they have to build to service the A380. That stuff can't be imported. Yes, the infrastructure is less due to them not being a domestic airline, but we already have one. Like I've said many times before, they DON'T FLY TO THE UAE! So how much service is going to drain Second, Air Canada has no problems already filling their flights to Europe and that's ALREADY with competition from European national airlines who THEMSELVES have competitve advantages due to their governments nosing in. Yet, like I said, Air Canada is doing fine. The funniest thing about this is even Air Canada admitted that there should be increased capacity between Toronto and Dubai. Take a look. http://www.thestar.com/opinion/editorialopinion/article/920925--siddiqui-air-canada-s-hypocrisy-on-uae-exposed
  8. Because how is a question that has yet to be answered. American Woman is quite right. AC is in no trouble from a few extra flights to Dubai.
  9. I couldn't agree more. The funny thing is, that despite claims to the contrary, these ads simply do not work. For either side. They have a greater potential to hurt yourself instead of the other guy, but they still do it.
  10. Now, are you actually being serious when you say that? Because I kind of laughed.
  11. So how badly would this affect Air Canada? Crippling?
  12. How about the fact that since corporate and union donations were halted, it would destroy the income for every opposition party leaving the Conservative Party unchallenged? You'd like that, though. A nice transparent way of destroying democracy for the next 10 years. I have no problem dropping the subsidy, but the only fair way to do it is go back to the good old days of big corporate and union hand outs. The CPC wouldn't want to do that, though, because considering past history, Bay Street cash wouldn't flow to Harper, now would it? How's that for Liberal greed. It seems like the only party to truly implement campaign finance reform regardless of whether they'd be politically helped or not was the Liberal Party. Their own reform has hurt the party quite a bit in terms of money. Now Harper wants to finish the job, and you're calling the LPC greedy? Whatever you're smoking, I'd like some.
  13. Let me ask this again. How will Air Canada suffer? Emirates only wants direct flights to a city Air Canada doesn't offer service to. Secondly, why should TC be worried about other Asian or European Carriers?
  14. Air Canada even flies to Dubai? News to me. So really, how many jobs are we actually killing, here?
  15. It could've been. I haven't seen the decision. My point is, as a political decision to grant landing rights considering the free service we've been getting at Camp Mirage is a no brainer. The spots are available and the company feels there is more demand for their services. If it works, great for Canadians - more flights to places like Dubai and places beyond for lower prices and it forces Air Canada to offer better service. If it fails, Emirates pulls back and we get the landing spots back anyhow. Like I said, it's not a life or death decision for Air Canada, Star Alliance, Emirates, the GTAA, nor was it a life or death situation for the Federal Government especially considering these types of international deals happen ALL THE TIME. Yet, they chose to act like it. Tell me? What's the big deal here? What's the big issue that's so bad that you can't support the Liberals over? The government let a very prosperous relationship with a nation with a booming economy go to complete shit and we're pissed at the Liberals because they have the balls to call out the government on it?
  16. I'll probably miss the home opener. The package comes with every single home game EXCEPT the home opener. Considering that's the only difference between this pacakge and the actual season ticket pacakge, I'll take the this package without the home opener instead. The difference between the two packages is in the ballpark (pun intended) of $550.
  17. I wasn't the one who pulled this discussion off topic to begin with. I believe this had something to do with it. Would you like to start making sense or are you just not sure how to in the first place?
  18. The point of this is?
  19. That has absolutely nothing to do with what you said earlier. Furthermore, yes YOU ARE A CON. Let's face it, NO MATTER WHO WAS leader...even if it was the most inspiring man in the world, the best thing to do would let the Cons get their majority and come back with fresh ideas. And the leader after that. And the leader after that as well. See, now you're treating ME like I'm stupid. Maybe you should retract your previous statement.
  20. This is the highest form of hypocrisy.
  21. Not only from National Post, but Kelly McParland, one of the most anti-Liberal editorialists out there. Not surprisingly, a message of doom. As for what draws me to the Liberals? Now that's hilarious. Perhaps you should ask that of yourself and the CPC.
  22. In the past 20 years if you hadn't noticed the Liberal position on things like Free Trade and open markets is uniformly positive. Second, no, I don't think anyone in the Liberal Party would've cared if Emirates got a few more landing spots at Pearson. Why? Because the deal behind it is much more important than a few flights to the UAE that Air Canada would never be able to fill anyway. Air Canada simply DOES NOT FLY to where Emirates does. I'll give you that they want Star Alliance to go away but it's absolutely absurd to think that a few more flights in Toronto will cause Star Alliance to become insolvent. Also, Dubai is already a hub. The A380 flies out of Toronto straight to Dubai and there are connections from there to places all over. Places frankly, Air Canada doesn't fly to. Star Alliance might, but isn't that also another form of shirking competition? These airline alliances are nothing more than agreements not to compete in certain markets which is another, if unrelated unfair advantage. Emirates and Eithad aren't part of that. I'm not saying that's right, but lets take our head out of our asses and take stock of what the situation actually is.
  23. Stupid enough to fall for what? Considering the history of the CPC you better watch about what claims you throw around. Ignatieff isn't the one who has 30% tied up in his palm thinking he's, you know, fiscally Conservative. I still remember him having to release a hurried platform 5 days before the last election because he had the hubris to believe Canadians would vote for him anyway. Now THAT is treating Canadians like they're stupid. These ads treat them like they're stupid. These ads basically say to Canadians we don't think you can understand a true policy debate so we're going to throw vile accusations at the other guy and hope they stick in your fragile and undeveloped minds.
  24. I think so. With all the complaints you hear about AC, I just had a friend fly to and from Malaysia with Emirates and he said they were fantastic.
  25. Yeah I guess I forgot all about it. Tool. They're not factual, you're just so partisan you can't see straight.
