  1. An e-mail I received a while ago, pretty much sums up how I feel too. Written by a housewife in New Brunswick , to her local newspaper. This is one ticked off lady. 'Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001 and have continually threatened to do so since? Were people from all over the world, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from the nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania ? Did nearly thr ee thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they? And I'm supposed to care that a few Taliban were claiming to be tortured by a justice system of the nation they come from and are fighting against in a brutal insurgency. I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11. I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan. I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat. I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Afghanistan come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in Mosques. I'll care when the mindless zealots who blows themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs. I'll care when the Canadian media stops pretending that their freedom of speech on stories is more important than the lives of the=2 0soldiers on the ground or their families waiting a home to hear about them when something happens. In the meantime, when I hear a story about a CANADIAN soldier roughing up an Insurgent terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care. When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank . I don't care. When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed 'special' food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don't care. And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled 'Koran' and other times 'Quran.' Well, Jimmy Crack Corn you guessed it, I don't care!! If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your e-mail friends sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous behaviour! If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great country! And may I add: 'Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the soldiers don't have that problem.' I have another quote that I would like to add, AND.......I hope you forward all this. One last thought for the day: Only five defining forces have ever offered to die for you: 1. Jesus Christ 2. The Canadian Soldier.. 3. The British Soldier. 4. The US Soldier, and 5. The Australian Soldier One died for your soul, the other 4 for your freedom.
  2. Not a very bright move, that's for sure. To go completely offside about it looks pretty stupid to the average guy too though.
  3. HAHAHA Yes, Les Whittington and The Star represents how "the rest of Canada sees it". LOL, I mean he has no political leanings at all that find their way into EVERY column he writes.
  4. Jeebus! I sure hope the CPC doesn't adopt that attitude or they'll lose a boatload of us that have been propping them over the last few years. I would truly have nobody to vote for if that Gestapo tactic is employed, and Harper were to support it. I fully support cracking the whip should the protests get violent, or illegal, but our right to a peaceful demonstration is as basic a right as we have.
  5. I don't support the HST, and I've wrote my member to express my view, nice deflection though. I was speaking to people stepping down because of the corruption/incompetence that still thrives in the Liberal party, and why I stopped supporting them after the '04 federal election.
  6. Exactly. And if anyone forgets what it's like with Liberals at the helm, just take a peek at what's going on in Ontario.
  7. I can't see Harpers government signing onto this farce either, or at least I'm really hoping he won't.
  8. I think it's just as plausible that Dhalla started at least some of it herself to try and garner support for her ridiculous bill that she's not getting any on. Who really knows? But it is a sad part of politics, regardless of where it started.
  9. Yes, it is interesting. I too would like to hear some input on the reasoning myself.
  10. She didn't deem them things important enough in her life to bother remembering.
  11. He pretty much proved the following paragraph you wrote for ya : "You know, if all immigrants were White and European we would at least be able to discuss the economic and cultural pros and cons of immigrantion without the polically correct squealing like old ladies looking at a dirty movie. "Oh my God! Someone is criticising immigrants! And that's like, like criticizing brown people! Aaaaahhgggh! Atack! Attack! We must defend the brown people for they're too child-like and ignorant to defend themselves!""
  12. Without question. I'm in complete agreement.
  13. Agreed, the critics won't give this government any credit for anything. We're coming out of this mess in at least as good of shape as anyone else, better than most, and that resonates with Canadians whether the hacks admit it or not. The Liberals say they can do better, but we're left to guess how because "we'll see".
  14. There's certainly more to this than the average citizen knows about. Me thinks the Liberals might have been smarter to wait for all the information to be out there before running to DEMAND the Canadian taxpayer fork over 2million to someone for being detained for a couple months, which looks more and more to have been justified.
  15. No way the conservatives take her in. That would truly be a significant blunder if they ever did.
  16. Has Ignatieff connected with anyone not already in the tank for the LPC, male or female?
  17. I am completely 100% in support of nuclear energy while we keep striving for better sources. Seems like a no brainer doesn't it?
  18. Man, it's probably an interesting read but you need to hit enter once in a while and use a couple paragraph breaks. These old eyes go blurry looking at that! lol EDIT: Thanks, that's much easier to read.
  19. That's what it really boils down to Riverwind. We in the middle class are struggling enough to put food on the table and raise/educate our kids, while living somewhat comfortable. Schemes like cap and trade are going to put a load on us that will have an impact, and it isn't proven that it will do anything but make the "trader" boatloads of cash. I completely agree with, and practice, reducing emissions through conservation and development of more efficient energy sources. We can achieve a lot of this through incentives which will reduce emissions. In the mean time look for solutions that will truly have a positive global effect without further burying the middle class.
  20. There's never an excuse for suicide, it's a cowards way out, every time. I don't know enough to comment on his innocence or guilt, but it's a tragic story nonetheless. If it does turn out he was innocent, then it will be a powerful lesson for people about the ramifications of false allegations. If it turns out he's guilty, then we're all better off, although the impact on the kids could be significant.
  21. That might be a good thing considering all you'll ever see is liberal red regardless of their actions.
  22. It's a good thing we listened to the enviroment expert predictions at the original "Earth Day"...... * “...civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind,” biologist George Wald, Harvard University, April 19, 1970.” * “By 1995, “...somewhere between 75 and 85 percent of all the species of living animals will be extinct.” Sen. Gaylord Nelson, quoting Dr. S. Dillon Ripley, Look magazine, April 1970.” * “Because of increased dust, cloud cover and water vapor “...the planet will cool, the water vapor will fall and freeze, and a new Ice Age will be born,” Newsweek magazine, January 26, 1970.” * “The world will be “...eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age,” Kenneth Watt, speaking at Swarthmore University, April 19, 1970.” * “We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation,” biologist Barry Commoner, University of Washington, writing in the journal Environment, April 1970.” * “By 1985, air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half...” Life magazine, January 1970.” * “Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make,” Paul Ehrlich, interview in Mademoiselle magazine, April 1970.” * “Ehrlich also predicted that in 1973, 200,000 Americans would die from air pollution, and that by 1980 the life expectancy of Americans would be 42 years.” * “It is already too late to avoid mass starvation,” Earth Day organizer Denis Hayes, The Living Wilderness, Spring 1970.” Predictions of environmental disaster wrong
  23. I think you've hit the nail on the head Mr. C. Those of us who kept the Libs in their Majority Governments left them in '04 and '06 hoping they would get the message and clean house. Well, they obviously are too obtuse, or arrogant, to see what we want, and continue to play the games that turned people off. The libs strong suit has always been the ability to connect with both the center-left and center-right voters. They are not listening to this segment of voters and continue to play their games that only matter to their die-hard base that will vote for them regardless. Iggy has turned into a complete failure at motivating those he needs to, and he looks like a complete tool every time he opens his mouth. I haven't heard nothing from him but critisisim of others. Bob Rae also has to go, the people in Ontario remember him well and many don't want anything to do with anything he's involved with. He's likely the one to blame for the current round of failing games they're playing. I too can see a Majority for the Conservatives because the center-right see Harper as less scary than the current crop of Libs, and the NDP getting, or at least awful close, to official opposition status because many center-left aren't buying what he's selling either. Now I know the die-hard Libs will discount, and maybe even ridicule this opinion of a center-right poster, but therein lies a main reason why they are floundering like a ship lost at sea, and why they are really struggling to get the votes back they lost in '04 and '06, they won't listen to the voters.
  24. I too thought it was a takeoff from the Air Force Logo when I first saw it. It's awful close, even the leaf pattern is the same, but they made the "O" a "C". Air Force Logo I think it's much ado about nothing to be honest.
