  1. Yes, Mulroney is just another black eye we have to bear. It's not even so much that he lied under oath but the fact that he would be so close to someone like Schreiber whose dealings from the get-go seem on the dodgy side, even if they were legal here. But if it weren't for the Fifth Estate and the Globe and Mail this wouldn't have come out at all. Then Mulroney would be laughing all the way to the grave, or he might yet. I'm happy enough that his shenanigans will stick adversely to his "legacy" which he feels hasn't been appreciated enough by Canadians and is furious that Trudeau always seems to overshadow him. Now his lack of ethics are squarely on his shoulders. As far as Schreiber goes, he couldn't have given Mulroney money/support/whatever (or anyone else for that matter) if the recipients weren't willing to accept it. Who' worse?
  2. Holy Schmoley, saying that tasers are being marketed to the public on a taser thread is now anti-American? Somehow you don't strike me as the over-sensitive type. What wouldn't be considered anti-American to you ..... only when we prostrate ourselves in the face of your superiority?
  3. Or Mulroney could be bluffing, hoping that the Cons ship him out before the inquiry or hoping that Schreiber can't back up his allegations. But when it comes down to it, Mulroney mislead the country, under oath, so he could be called a charlatan as well. It's going to be interesting to hear how Mulroney is going to justify this. Once a liar .... Everyone already knows Schreiber is a charlatan..
  4. A rightard is the opposite of the Moxie's leftard. And your questions aren't foolishness and neither are the questions the other sides ask, although they are treated as such. You may trust Steve and his merry band but others do not. There are legitimate concerns expressed that are replied to with stupid posts like the one I pointed to, and your scary, scary, scary. This government speaks out of both sides of their mouth as in saying one thing doing the opposite which, to me, means you can't count on them. They do not do as they say they are. I pointed out an unreasonable diatribe posted by ScottSA, that's all I did.
  5. I don't trust the police to tell the truth so I don't trust the findings of this report. Police lie when they need to cover their asses, for expediency. We saw the untruths immediately after the Dziekanski death, I've seen RCMP lie in Court. It gets to the point where we can't trust them even if they are telling the truth. How can you tell?
  6. Get a grip. Any legitimate concerns are met with this rightard foolishness.
  7. Sure, like that's an option? From here on out I want two for one!
  8. Everybody was cut and hurting in the 90's. You make is sound like it was just the military; ask educational facilities, health care facilities, etc. how they fared while the books were being balanced. It's easy for Steve to pump up the military with the record surpluses the government is enjoying.
  9. Tazers are being marketed to women in the USA to use for protection.
  10. This is evermore the typical m.o. of this government. Say one thing while doing another right in front of people's noses. And yet the Steve's will follow along like good little mindless sheep to whatever is vocalized, completely ignoring contradicting evidence. We've seen it over and over again.
  11. A perfect example of why there is no reasonable debate here. Someone expresses legitimate concerns and we get this overblown claptrap. The concerns only get more deeply ingrained with the ridiculous responses.
  12. Good one, we can torture him with inquiries instead of him lollygagging in a German prison. Whatever is the worse option; he is a sleaze. It's funny, the Government's stance sure changed about immediate extradition once Steve got back to town. All of a sudden Nicholson isn't so vocal about not being able to delay it.
  13. There's absolutely no reason the process can't be both competitive and quality/exactly what is wanted. This black and white either/or thinking is ridiculous.
  14. The witch hunt? LOL. Mulroney took money from Schreiber and then testified he didn't have any dealings with him. And that constitutes a witch hunt to find out the truth? What wouldn't be a witch hunt to you - if it were a Liberal?
  15. I'd have to get me a gun and become one of them "terrorist" insurgents.
  16. I guess I must have, or I really pay attention. Since we have to guess at the Steve's ventriloquists (thanks Wild Bill, I love that), that is a definite motivation. I didn't expect you to agree with me. Perhaps you need to take off those Conservative coloured sunglasses you wear.
  17. Not administrations ... people. It seems some people don't see through the smoke screens. I have been proven wrong.
  18. The Minister has the authorization to get Schreiber to the committee hearings. Yet he fails to do so, actually saying that he doesn't (come on!) so his party won't be seen as bringing someone to the table that might point fingers at Mulroney. Then they can throw up their hands and say .. we weren't part of that. See how that works MB?
  19. She doesn't have to know about military equipment. If the specs are put out to tender properly then you can get exactly what you want ... and for the best price. It's all about being specific and detailed, then let the bidding begin, it should never be about handing out to exactly who you want to benefit. If there is only one company that can deliver what you asked for, then the competition for it will reflect that.
  20. Yes, he could have rushed in to help and got tasered too. It was a lack of anyone caring enough to help right from the get go. Pile on top of that cops that assessed a situation in a second or two, without caring enough to try communicating to calm a potential situation down, and we have a death. (But hey, get rid of the nuisance fast before the next flight gets in. ) No use blaming people on the other side of a secure area when helping could have come anytime in the previous 10 hours.
  21. Steve and his merry band should have thought of that first before changing the policy. Had they kept it as it was there would be no reason to have to go through extra hoops. Funny how the right only gets worried when there is money at stake. The article also says: One hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing which is becoming normal for this government. Also: Again, the mouth speaks as the actions do exactly what they say they aren't. (Pay attention to what we say and not what we do) And they think people don't see through their smoke screens?
  22. Which way of life of theirs are you referring to? The horrors of living under the Taliban? That was their way of life and it wasn't very civilized - that's why there was fighting to get rid of that imposed "civilization." So when you people make that comment keep in mind that they did not choose how they were told to live. At least, if we are even reasonably successful there, Afghani's can live, for the first time in how long, live they way they wish. We are not imposing anything on them unless giving them freedom to determine their own future the way they wish it is imposing.
  23. Nobody is saying they want to or should live like us. I believe great effort is being made to work within their cultural beliefs (not Taliban imposed beliefs) not force them to behave unculturally. And as far as leaving it up to Afghani's to decide ... that's what they were trying to do under Soviet rule, under Taliban rule. That's why there has been decades of fighting and getting no where. When the Taliban set up government it was by gun, by force. If you looked like you didn't agree with their doctrine they tortured you, killed your family. That's how they left it up to average Hamid to decide how to live. There weren't choices. Now, maybe with our help, they will have those choices freely, and not at the end of a rifle barrel.
  24. myata do you think the regular Afghani wanted to live like they lived under the Taliban? I don't think their lifestyle was their choice.
  25. Omg, I've run into the geriatrics co-opt!
