bjre replied to Machjo's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
English is popular. But can we say it universal? In 1999, The top 5 languages by population are: 1 CHINESE, MANDARIN [CHN] China 885,000,000 2 SPANISH [SPN] Spain 332,000,000 3 ENGLISH [ENG] United Kingdom 322,000,000 4 BENGALI [BNG] Bangladesh 189,000,000 5 HINDI [HND] India 182,000,000 http://paginaspersonales.deusto.es/abaitua.../nlp/top100.htm Even for language in internet, English is about only one third. Most people in the world don`t understand English. How about the "free world"? Can they do something before it is too late? Who can prevent an error war before it launched? And a weak challenged voice can not even be heard in the sea of the strong mainstream voice that goes into TV in every house. see the following: The invasion of Iraq — and how the media war was won and lost: http://www.asiapac.org.fj/cafepacific/reso...raqwarmedia.pdf What is more, media with different voice can be labelled with "falsely report" and be menaced. US menaces Al Jazeera over Iraq reportage http://www.wsws.org/articles/2003/aug2003/aljz-a27.shtml They can also threat journalists away by shooting them: Pressure Grows over US Killing of Journalists http://www.globalpolicy.org/security/issue...journalists.htm BTW, for the tiananmen 89, the video had been broadcast again and again after June 4. I was a student at that time, I watched that when it first time on TV. The reason why you think it is too late is because you can not see it after it has been filtered out in the western media that in an era before youtube exist. I believe you are very smart, but even you can not get accurate material to draw correct conclusion. Most people have no way and no time to verify every message from the mainstream media here, they simply be manipulated just like you. That is the so called "Freedom". -

14 year old Life without parole
bjre replied to bjre's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
According to your logic, if all people are sent to jail and let you alone on the streets, then no one can hurt you. However, you might (again) need to fight with tigers, wolves, lions, or snakes. -

Yes. There's one less to commit violence. How many crimes would he have committed if he's out on the streets? I guess your feeling might be false because this kid probably would never hurt any other in purpose if he did not sent to jail, see the original story: Of cause not, however jailing him for life without a second chance is not only unfair to him, but also have nothing to do with reduce violence crime on purpose. Don't they? Society and educators come up with some new technique of discipline every so often. Read all types of books on discipline....they all preach about the importance of "CONSISTENCY!" Did the school make effective steps to make the 14-year-old and the 17-year-old kids (I guess they are not so young) understand that some games are dangerous. Did the school make them understand how to avoid wound or at least what time to stop a dangerous game? Let alone how to be nice to others and how to deal with people you don't like and how to think of others need? I guess the selfish teacher themselves can hardly think in that way because they often think that some kids made him unable to keep classroom in order instead of thinks that that could be a chance to make all student to learn some social skills. They turned to use "timeout" to punish "bad" kids and let others understand things can only be solved by force. They may have never any idea on if things can be solved by another way like make the problem kids feel and understand that they can and are able to gain attention by other positive behavior. And what did his step mother do on that? A 14-year-old kids face the court alone without his step-mother support and can not afford any lawyer and face a sentence to life in prison while many other real adult murders did not get that, isn't that bully? -

About Tianman 1989, there is a video. You can watch it, and think what the government will do if it happened in Canada / US / England / France or Germany. Although you may not understand what it says, you can watch the vidio and you can understand it. It is far more violence than Lasha(Tibet) last year. Of cause, CIA is behind that as always. -

After this kid be sent to jail, are you feel safer? There are still gun shooting happen in schools and other places, it never stopped. I think if schools teach more on how to deal with other people in positive attitude and help kids before extreme behavior happened, this kind of tragedy can be less. Sometimes, I just think the society itself believes only violence so that kids can not find a better method than that. Court can not find a better solution than bully problem kids and send them to jail by force. the states can not find a better solution to solve Iraq issue than launch a war. So kids can not find a better solution than violence. That becomes a culture, a violence culture, police use it, lawyers use that, teachers use that. if you don't have enough money, you will have more chance be bullied. We need education system to change that, we need teachers that actually put their heart to warm all the kids include the problem kids. Instead of the selfish teachers that strike for their own benifits and ignore the students for several months like york university teacher did. -
Story: 14 year old Life without parole http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-241391 Do you think there are too many jails and too many aggressive crowns are there just for earn more money. This makes tax payers suffer too much. The education system are totally dis-functional in teach kids to be someone who are responsible, kind-hearted, nice-to-others, able-to-solve-problem.

The best teaching material is what I got after I came to Canada. This video was on first on Internet at March 19, 2008 It tells us how west media tell lies. They always do that. They did that for their boss. I don't know who the bosses are, they should be very powerful interest group that see the whole world (include Canada) as their interest. They just want to take as much as possible from everywhere. They can bring any politician here down or up by the mainstream media as their weapon. The democracy is actually toy of them. Only when people here can think with their own brain, people can realize this. And really do something for themselves. That is the importance of education. -
It doesn't matter what my hope is, even if I want to ask for a signature from Calgary-born Owen Hargreaves, a star soccer player in my vacation. If Harper has meaningful contribution, no one can deny it.
-
The thing is, I did not see any other report on Harper in G20. Do you know if Harper meet any leader of other countries? Do you know if Harper give any speech on the G20 stage? What did he do when he was there? Did he bring any meaningful thing back? What is it?

It is hard to find any news on Harper in G20, at last, I find Harper can make news by photo. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/7979292.stm

Outrage over Afghan law legalizing rape in marriage
bjre replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I guess it is democracy makes the president approved that for him to get more support. So basically, the president has no difference with his Canadian countpart: He just want to get more support for his own interest. That is why I said education is more important than democracy. Because education changes people's mind, democracy only does according to people's mind. War can not change people's belif of their religion, it can only spread hate, when more people killed, more people will be educated to be terrorists. -

Crying wolf on such a recession? Asking for money from tax payers to feed the US weapon industry/dealers? No least sympathize about the poor people who are suffering current economic crisis. I am so surprised that this thread was first initialized by a person who frequently with the words such as "morals" and "ethics". Maybe your value of "morals" and "ethics" are all based on bloody weapons. -
Massive Conservative $85 Billion Dollar Deficit
bjre replied to madmax's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The reason that I think Canada is lack of wise, capable politician is proved again by this thread. When economic crisis came, Harper deny it first. Then he refuse spend anything on this until Liberal and NDP try to unite. After that he began to spend money only for the purpose to spend to prove he is doing something. Even try to take tax dollars from below $20/hr workers to save the jobs that earn 76$/hr. Does Liberal have some better idea? I don't think so. If they were sure they were able to rescue the economy, they should not fear of took the power from Tories with NDP in February. All the wisdom of the politicians are used on how to attack their rivals and keep their own positions. Why the politician can not sit together and try to work with their good willingness to solve the problems? The politicians that care only about themselves, and their party, and maybe their sponsors are too much more than enough. Canada need better education system that can create people that have responsibility, have integrity, have good willing to people, have capability to solve problems. -
Try to google my words to find if I copy from anyone else. On the contrary, I find your words nothing new. I guess you yourself is the one that has been programmed by the flood of media error information and text books.

Hey, don't just use China as evil example in every place. China did lots of things far more better than western countries did. I live in China for more than 30 years, I never find anything I can not talk about there. As for some of things that government in China does not willing to let you find everywhere, it is just like what Canada did. http://www.freedomtoread.ca/censorship_in_...enged_books.asp It is very clear that everything western country blame China, western country did it themselves. And lots of those, they are still doing. China did lots of thing better than westerner's can even think, they cannot even understand it. Why, because they have so little experience of China, the culture and the philosophy. What they can understand is only something that had happened near themselves. Something they did use to their own people.

Do you believe democracy can solve everything? If so, why current economic crisis happened? I think although democracy is a nice system, it can not solve all problems. If all politicians are evil and thinks only about their own interest, the result of democracy will not better than a compromise among interesting groups, it will has nothing to do with most people's interest and nations interest. On the other hand, in a non-democracy system, if a dictator is a kind, nice super-man, he will be able to efficiently make things much better. So the most important thing is not democracy, it is education. The education should do something to make students become nice and think of/care about others. The education should make student capable to solve various difficult problems. The kids should not be treat as green-house vegetables that CAS did. The nation that fails educate a lot of capable people will have little chance to have a bright future. -
When a child grow with nice/kind people, he has more chance to become a nice/kind person. When a person live with nice/kind people, he/she will have more chance to become a nice/kind person. Jail is a place to gather all people that did something wrong. A place that all people have been attracted by lawyers, no matter the lawyers were right or wrong. Even if there were some nice/innocent people, they will have experience with the worst group of people in the society. So people that have ever been in jail have more possibility to become not so nice/kind. There are studies that show the possibility of people crime who has a criminal record is much higher than people that has no criminal records. The better way to deal with people who did something wrong is not send more people into jail, it is education, and education should create more kind people, not using bully in education, teachers should not go strike. There are some unnecessary laws that aimed just for interest groups to earn money. And there are some laws do harm than do good. Those that cost large amount of tax dollars should be abolished.

And it was the unions make many others can not find a job because many small bosses can not afford that salary. So that a large part of $?/hr will become tax to support those who do not work. -
NDP upset with Chinese made Ontario flags
bjre replied to madmax's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Nothing to upset. This is the result of the inability of the politicians. If they are able to make Canadian economy booming, who will care about to buy some flags in the nearest place instead of ask for China for just save such small amount of money?
