  1. I have an idea to cut spending and raise revenue at the same time. Legalize drugs. The federal government is currently spending 500 million dollars annually to enforce prohibition of marijuana; 150 million dollars is spent on the court systems alone. BC's marijuana industry alone is estimated to be worth $6 billion. I know lot's of that comes from the states but even if only 10% of that came from Canada it would be $600,000,000. That's a lot of money that can be potentially made off the tax from wholesale and retail sales. Not to mention drugs shouldn't be illegal in the first place.
  2. I know, but Your economy effects the world economy. I still don't see the point of having an economy in the first place, money is holding us back from accomplishing so much. Why should we need to fund cancer and disease research, why don't we just do the research. Why should solving poverty be expensive, why don't we just solve it, It wouldn't be hard. Money should never be the driving factor. Love should be. We choose to live with all these problems in society. That's all it is, a choice. These problems don't have to exist, we let them exist. They are a symptom of society. We really need to change how society is structured to fix the major problems of the world(Pollution, Poverty, War, Disease), this way of living can't go on forever. On the path we are going now, I wouldn't be surprised if we live threw World War 3, everyone seems to be okay with the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, why not just invade North Korea already, what are we waiting for? Yes, that was capitalism. But when the government got involved, it stopped being capitalism. The Canadian government bailed out GM and Chrysler out too. We should of let them fail like we let Nortel fail, that would of been capitalism. It will go much higher.
  3. A depression is just a prolonged recession. It took them 3 years into the great depression for them to admit it was a depression and not just a recession. We are only just over a year into this. Wait till the market crashes again. The US dollar is the world reserve currency. It was the Lehman's Brother collapse which started this Global credit crunch. The US economy is the worlds largest economy and Canada's largest trading partner, what happens with the american economy greatly effects ours. The bailouts were just a quick fix, but in the long run, it will cause more problems then it fixed. GM and Chrysler both should have failed, if they had any good assets, they would of been bought up. As soon as the government got involved, it stopped being capitalism. I agree, I think it's going to be all downhill from here, so buckle up. What caused the financial crisis? The Clinton administration forced banks to give more risky loans under the Community Reinvestment Act which was passed by Carter in 1977. Banks started giving loans out to low income families, but the prices of houses was on the rise so even if the family couldn't afford the mortgage and the house was foreclosed, the value of the house was higher then the mortgage was, so banks were still making money. When house prices dropped, banks started to lose money. They started to lose a lot of money, which caused Lehman Brothers to collapse, same with Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae. Other banks too were hit hard, but the bailout...bailed them out. So now the Federal Reserve decided it would be a good idea to lower interest rates to encourage people to get loans and spend money to help the economy, but the reason the economy collapsed in the first place was because people were spending money they didn't have. Interest rates should of been raised to discourage spending and encourage saving. The fed is just creating another bubble. Now with the bailouts, the Fed has printed so much money, that inflation is occurring, hence why gold and the market are rising. It's because the market is worth more dollars now then a year ago, but the value of the dollar has dropped. But Obama and the media are saying this recession is coming to an end and we are on a recovery. You can't have a jobless recovery. The government has been giving many intensives to get people to spend money to help the economy, like cash for clunkers and the house renovation rebate. People are loaning and spending money when they should be saving. I don't know if any of you are paying attention to the commercial real estate market in the states, it isn't doing good, their are ghost malls popping up in the lower states.. All the retail stores that companies like circuit city and linens and things are being leased by nobody. banks are losing a lot of money on this. Corporate buildings held by these companies are also not being leased. It's only a matter of time before the commercial real estate bubble crashes. Retail sales are still down but companies are still making money because lots of companies are selling off assets and laying off people to cover there losses. And this whole credit crunch was by design, the endgame may very well be a one world currency. Woodrow Wilson "I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men.", after signing the Federal Reserve into existence Thomas Jefferson "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." It would be a smart move to start buying silver, and if you have the money, Gold.
  4. I'm not to sure what you mean here. I don't support the wars in Iraq/Afghanistan or the war on drugs. Weather people want to get high or not is a choice of their own. The government has no right to say what people can or can't do with their body.(apparently they do...sadly) If you want to stop usage of drugs, educate the people on the dangers of drugs, if they still want to use them, they should be allowed to. As long as they aren't harming anyone else, it isn't a problem. If people do get addicted, it should be treated as a health problem, not a criminal problem. Throwing people in jail won't solve anything. Prohibition has never and will never work. Drugs being illegal is what pushes the industry underground Where does Al Qaeda get their money? from drugs...The government is funding gangs and terrorist groups by keeping drugs illegal. I know many people who don't vote and don't get high, it has nothing to do with drugs. Caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, they are all drugs. There are different types of drugs like opioids, psychedelics, stimulants and depressants all with different effects. I googled it, I don't know what you want me to look for. I'll admit, Ron Paul was the only candidate of the two major parties i supported. He actually would of been change. He would of ended the wars and brought the troops from around the world home he would of ended the war on drugs He would of ended the Federal Reserves monopoly of printing money out of thin air. He would of been change, not just say he would be change like Obama. He understand what liberty and freedom are all about. V for Vendetta quote "justice and freedom are more than words, they are perspectives" Honestly, I don't see the point of countries(borders). We are all the same. We should all be working together and have a society built off love. If we did, there wouldn't be wars or poverty and our drinking water and air would not be so polluted. I may sound like a hippy, but I think they had the right idea. But we live in a society based on money, which in turn is based on greed. We have the illusion of freedom, that's why so many people don't question it. We are all slaves to money in the end. I do pay attention to what happens here. I just find global affairs more interesting and the US is a major global player, so I pay a lot of attention to what they do. Like right now I am paying a lot of attention to what happens in Copenhagen lol. Well in that sense i guess i support the war in Afghanistan.. Do you think the war is a good idea is what i'm asking. Do you believe it has merit.
  5. There are alot of people who think this way. any of you listen to Muse at all? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tkio6TF0Ufg
  6. I think it will be the collapse of the US dollar, which will have huge effects worldwide I'll say why after what is your opinion
  7. lol, yes we do. There was The Great Depression in the 30's This is The Greatest Depression, it will be worse. I'll explain why I think this, I just wanna hear peoples views first.
  8. I know drugs are illegal. I think these laws we're making are ludicrous and are causing more problems then they are solving. When it comes to a revolution and overthrowing a government, i don't think the people are gonna care if it's illegal, who's gonna enforce that law, the government? if they do, it would turn into a civil war. Canada is heavily influenced by what happens in the states. I also find Canadian politics quite boring at the moment. The only thing in Canadian politics that is of interest to me right now is bill C-6, which i appose. K, let me rephrase the question then. Do you support the wars in Iraq and/or Afghanistan?
  9. Do you guys think we are on a recovery? Personally I think we are in the midst of the greatest depression.
  10. I want to hear other peoples opinion on the war on drugs. Personally i think it's stupid, it's creating more problems then it is solving.
  11. Is the debate over? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoDZQApqpSs
  12. Yes, i know. I don't understand the ideology of gun control, disarming the law abiding citizens doesn't make sense to me. Gangs will still use guns, they aren't going to obey the law. If we wanna cut down on violence, end the war on drugs and legalize drugs. What? I know... simple yes or no question, it's personal opinion. It's not even really a war, it's more of a policing action.
  13. man that was a fast reply. Just cause you see the commercial over and over again, doesn't mean thats all he does..its a recording...
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JVw3M3-CWw I'm not the only one who thinks this way.
  15. Na, haven't you been paying attention around the world with the bailouts, all it take is a printing press to make money.
  16. 1)Technically, there was no official declaration of war. Congressman Ron Paul before the war started "Let it be clearly understood- there is no authority to wage war against Iraq without Congress passing a Declaration of War. HJ RES 65, passed in the aftermath of 9/11, does not even suggest that this authority exists. A UN Resolution authorizing an invasion of Iraq, even if it were to come, cannot replace the legal process for the United States going to war as precisely defined in the Constitution. We must remember that a covert war is no more justifiable, and is even more reprehensible. Only tyrants can take a nation to war without the consent of the people. The planned war against Iraq without a Declaration of War is illegal. It is unwise because of many unforeseen consequences that are likely to result. It is immoral and unjust, because it has nothing to do with US security and because Iraq has not initiated aggression against us." 2) I'm not too sure if a supreme court judge can only rule if something is unconstitutional. It is still a violation of the constitution either way. 3) It says the right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms, shall not be fringed, there is a comma. There is tyranny in the US government, it is so obvious too. A Second American Revolution is needed. Or eventually states will secede. The Federal government is over abusing its power. People should not fear their governments, governments should fear the people This is a part from the movie V for Vendetta Apply it to the US. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TLD3Z6sJWA Do you guys believe the war in Iraq is justified?
  17. I said frequency after. only God = The universe they are one in the same We are apart of the universe, so technically we are god. Your eyes are the eyes of the universe and when you look at an object, it is the universe looking at itself threw those eyes
  18. ok, 1. They went to war with out a deceleration of war. Unconstitutional 2. U.S. District Judge Ann Aiken ruled that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, as amended by the Patriot Act, "now permits the executive branch of government to conduct surveillance and searches of American citizens without satisfying the probable cause requirements of the Fourth Amendment. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20999950/ 3. second amendment. A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. It's pretty clear what it states.
  19. K, ill give you the point, i should of said the federal government more power. America stopped going by the constitution.(not completely) The war in iraq is unconstitutional The patriot act is unconstitutional gun control is unconstitutional I don't know if you heard about the campaign for liberty in the states, its to restore the constitution
  20. Well i know he ran, and people ran for president who were in other parties like the libertarian party. This last election, I never once saw a candidate from another party on the news other then democrat and republican.
  21. How isn't it a good one. We are all just atoms on a subatomic level. "On such things as matter we have all been wrong, what we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter." - Albert Einstein
  22. k, maybe i should of said frequency, the sun sends out frequency, so does our brains.
  23. From president to president, how has their foreign policy changed? I mean for presidency, the one job matters these days. Over the passed years they have just been giving the president more and more executive power. It is turning into a democratic dictatorship. The only choice is do you want the puppet on the left, or the puppet on the right.
  24. This is my opinion on science and religion. Science is the left side of the brain which deals with logic, structure, rules, laws. Religion is the right side of the brain which deals with creativity, faith, beliefs, intuition. this is my theory. God did not create the universe. God became the universe. God isn't a man with a beard either, god is just energy. Matter is energy, its vibrations are just slowed down to be perceivable by our senses. So technically we are all god. Without sound, matter would not exist.
  25. They are fascist, corporations control the country. They are no longer a country of, by and for the people, they are a country of, by and for the corporations. Politicians are bought off by lobbyist/corporations. Look what happened with the bailouts, the bailouts helped wall street not main street. There are so many wall streeters in the Obama administration. If there is no difference between the 2 major paries, where is the democracy. Hell, i don't understand why I have never seen the libertarian or any other party on mainstream media. I would say I have a firm grasp of reality. and i have done reasearch What caused the financial crisis?
