  1. That is a complete lie and you are self deluded. I've never seen anybody in such complete denial over what they've said. Allow me to quote you on this thread- Yes, I am. Far enough away so as the land/building isn't available due to the attacks; as a direct result of the attacks. Far enough away not to have been part of the destruction caused by the Muslims who carried out 9-11. The building that the Mosque is being built in IS part of the site/area/call-it-what-you-will that was damaged on 9-11. But for the attacks, by Muslims, the Mosque would have had to have been built elsewhere, so I think, out of sensitivity to that fact, the Mosque should be built elsewhere.Do you truly not get that?
  2. We all had to read it in high school, a long time ago. Although what you've said makes sense, that is what you took away from it. Others may interpret it completely differently. Whatever the self chooses, whatever it wants is good. Whatever others might want or expect, that conflicts with what the self wants, is irrelevant. There should be no sense of obligation to give up something the self wants, just because others expect it from us. There are times when this philosophy would fail utterly, as in situations where there needs to be teamwork, where there must be sacrifice play for the outcome to win. there needs to be people who are willing to give up something from themselves for the greater need of the group. We can't all be the goal scorer, who gets the glory. Someone has to take the hits.
  3. http://www.thecomedynetwork.ca/Displayblog.aspx?bpid=a765e910-d2a7-4869-aa36-05cf4f60d62d Try to cut down on the self-malleting.
  4. Oh there's nothing really wrong with it. Thanks for providing such a valuable service. Your news reports seem to have one consistent theme. You characterize the whole of Islam as being in opposition to Israel, and the United States. As to letting others "come to their own conclusions", you have provided yours already. Why hide behind words?
  5. Perhaps, but one can also say the same about the philosophy of Ayn Rand. "Me, me, and only me".
  6. My thoughts exactly. It's not her fault, what is she apologizing for. Most people would not agree with this, and would not see the need to apologize for someone elses actions when they could not have done anything about it anyway. To expect other people to likewise apologize for someone else, is unrealistic. Its more important to apologize for what you yourself do to others. I already apologized to AW in this thread some time ago, but she never acknowledged it. She continues with her vindictive attacks regardless of what I say. Meanwhile telling us how nice she is, for apologizing for others.
  7. The data is to the contrary, there wouldn't be a massive increase in long term use of marijuana if it became legal. And most people are responsible with their substances, eg. alcohol. Given the choice to be drunk or high on the job, and get fired the vast majority will be wise enough to keep it at home.
  8. I don't understand the premise either. Not much room for discussion.
  9. Yes Iran is a bad country.
  10. It wouldn't be more of a burden on employers than it already is. Many employers already test for drugs now, including pot.
  11. Now there's a useful attribute... no not really. As a musician I don't think he's that good anyway. His singing is quite bad. He'd be better off sticking to anecdotes about hockey players. The only reason Harper stays in power is that there's no one else out there who's as good a leader as him. Much to the detriment of the other parties, and all Canadians.
  12. How about a law that no one can use dope on the job. but they can still use it in their own private residence. That makes sensi
  13. I was very pleased to see her win despite being a muslim, which some might factor against her. The backlash coming from american bigots is not at all surprising. As to the burka, if these chicks all look like that underneath I could almost understand why they'd want to cover that stuff up!
  14. I had a bad feeling about this guy since day one. Now it's looking more and more like a nightmare. His decisions on prisoners in Afghanistan and his actions regarding the BP Oil spill show just how ineffective and impotent a liberal president can be. Worse than useless
  15. I know you're just trying to goad me with these accusations, but it won't work. On the other hand I can go back and show where you have said those things that I questioned you about, and you continue to have no answer. other than silly ad-hominems, which mean absolutely nothing to me... It's amazing how vindictive and spiteful you become once someone disagrees with you. You're doing a nice job proving my point. Your use of emoticons also proves my point. Your emotionalism is what defeated you, not me. Maybe you just need a vacation
  16. They followed eugenics.
  17. Appeasement means making some concessions to your enemy's demands. Which part of post #199 do you consider appeasement?
  18. Sorry but I don't buy your doublespeak politically correct garbage on this one. I and others here simply don't buy it. It does not hold up to intellectual scrutiny. The underlying reason is a bias toward muslims, that their prescence near the WTC is somehow symbolic of the attack and would produce feelings of anger and fear in those who lost their loved ones. That feeling is misguided. And responding to it, agreeing with it is a terrible mistake. Yes you! I imagine it must be hard for you to believe. Perhaps you use the word moron in your house on a regular basis, but it is an insult, and it's pretty much the first thing you come up with consistently in your replies. You use this to evade the argument and beat down others who try to challenge your views. It only proves you have no legs to stand on.
  19. I am not interested in appeasement. I believe the only way to deal with extremists or bullies for that matter is to fight them. We must identify who the real enemy is, fight them and at the same time marginalize them so that their own support mechanisms, funding and recruitment fail them. Fight the radicals, embrace the moderates. In order to do that we need to discriminate between the two using intelligence, not emotions. Some people who are unable to differentiate between the two, will be upset by this.
  20. No, but it's another example of your inability to discuss this without using blatant insults. But that's fine, you continue to show yourself for what you are and I will show myself for what I am. You have stated that placing a mosque there would be "insensitive", you said so here in this thread. There's no need to look anything up. I have yet to hear a reasonable explanation from you of what you mean by that, other than you must believe there is somehow an association between the 9/11 attack and anyone who is muslim. It appears that in your view, they may not necessarily share the BLAME, but they at least share the SHAME. And that just seems lke an extremely ignorant and repugnant view, considering that ordinary muslims must be just as horrified by the attacks as we are, and some of them also lost their family members on Sept 11th as well.
  21. What he says makes pretty good sense to me, other than the last statement that all muslims should get an apology. That's foolish. But I agree with the premise that this new center could be seen as a place to heal the wounds, rather than the divisive approach that you encourage. On the other hand, his statement that all muslims should get an apology is no more "odd" than yours, that all muslims should somehow share in the blame, or shame.
  22. For clear evidence of appeasement, see Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran.
  23. I wonder why McChrystal is being so open and honest in criticizing the current situation. It seems unusual for the top General to admit they're not winning. What's his motive?
