  1. Strategic Voting Links for anyone who wants to read further: http://www.votetogether.ca/ (nice color coded map to show where strategic voting will work best) http://www.strategicvoting.ca/swingdistricts.php (lists 128 districts and recommendations as to which way to vote) I'm not affiliated with any of these organizations and so I can't vouch for the accuracy of the recommendations. But it's important to Canada that we rid ourselves of this odious government so take a look!
  2. wtf exactly is "The democratic process". We have a voting system that has its roots in Britain at a time when only rich men could vote. Is that the democratic process that you are complaining we might corrupt? We've decided which candidate will best suit the country. And that candidate is anyone other than Stephen Harper. You need to read more than just the Conservative Party sound bites. The NDP, Liberals and Greens have all committed to reviewing or changing the voting system. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
  3. And there's no reason a Liberal minority supported by the NDP couldn't go the distance.
  4. Actually, this is exactly the way the system is supposed to work. It was never designed such that 38% of the votes would give 100% of the power to a backroom PMO filled with guys in short pants.
  5. Ex pats in New York throw anti-Harper concert in New York. This guy really brings people together.
  6. Has the Globe and Mail endorsed anyone yet? And yes, Harper did inherit a surplus.
  7. Yeah, I'm sure it was just a random coincidence that after Harper stirred up all the anti-Islam sentiment, these assaults occurred. Why the scare quotes? You don't consider them assault?
  8. "only" 2 assaults. How many would you have preferred?
  9. Read what I said. I said the result of Harper's mouthing off was that women were assaulted. I didn't say that was his intention. Clearly, he intended it as a cheap political tactic and clearly he knew how it would be interpreted by Islamophobes. But there is no reason to believe that he intended women to be assaulted. He still bears some responsibility for the results.
  10. So you're OK with Harper stirring up anti Muslim sentiment that has resulted in women being assaulted?
  11. She feels like a second class citizen after being in Canada for 50 years. It's a sad day for Canada.
  12. Zunera Ishaq will be on CBC's The Current tomorrow morning, explaining why she chooses to wear the niqab. If Argus is correct, we should expect to hear her yelling "Allah Akbar" and "Death to Democracy".
  13. Not watching much TV, I didn't know that it was never released.
  14. You're on the side of angels but good luck fighting stereotypes with facts.
  15. The myth of the good guy with a gun. If the NRA had its way and everyone was packing weapons all the time, I wonder what would really happen when a bunch of random civilians, none of whom would have training or experience about how to deal with these situations all put out guns and converge on a place where shots are fired. It's just as likely they would start shooting at each other.
  16. The myth of defensive gun ownership.
  17. And you know this.... how?
  18. My point was that the Conservative supporters around here always seem to be referring to something Martin did or something Chretien did.
  19. Yeah. Well, if you were a pharmaceutical executive, you would probably know exactly what it says because industry was invited to participate. Unlike labour, environmental groups or us ordinary peons. The text hasn't been released and nobody seems to know when it will be.
  20. Has Trudeau been talking about soldiers in the streets?
  21. Some people might be ashamed to admit to being selfish and greedy. They hide their selfishness behind it being "good for the economy" some other such claptrap. Not you, though - you own it.
  22. The Conservatives are so afraid of what their candidates will say that many of them have been skipping all of the candidate debates. Someone has created a twitter account called teddy bear proxy to provide a stand in for them. Just another example of Harper's disdain for his subjects.
  23. You should put that on a bumper sticker. I suspect most wealthy Conservative supporters would agree with you.
