  1. The CPC has paid off $40b in debt in 2 years. By definition a surplus is inefficient and means we are overtaxed. I think we need to send the lefty sympathizers here to an economics refresher course.
  2. I thought it was pretty clear, especially after the 4th time.
  3. Didn't he try? "Uhh, I have no plan, my 30 day, no, er, 50 day, no, er 80 day... Can we start over?"
  4. So we've established you don't know what you're talking about... What sort of pension plans are 100% invested in the markets? They are pretty much as risk averse as they come. So if I have millions in the market and lose 40%, somehow that doesn't matter? Yet if you lose $40 it does? You are totally ignorant of how the market works and who is invested in it. Come back when you have a better idea. Until then, I'm sure you'll continue to feel sorry for yourself and expect handouts from the government and your fellow citizens.
  5. So should Harper be spreading false panic and willing a recession like Dion and Layton? Or should he ignore reality? What exactly do you want him to say? Me? I like his honesty.
  6. Maybe you should ditch the outdated institution known as the union and you'd be better off.
  7. Since when did I say you couldn't have a surplus and still have debt? I think you are confusing "deficit" with "debt".
  8. Then there shouldn't be a surplus. You have no idea what you are talking about.

  10. Segma poll, for whatever it's worth, shows LPC and NDP in battle for second (1500 respondents, Oct 5th to 9th): Conservatives 34.6 Liberals 23 NDP 20.5 Greens 10 http://www.cyberpresse.ca/actualites/elect...minoritaire.php
  11. Based on, well, nothing, I expect low turnout. Advance polling was down from previous elections. I also think that the LPC supporters, which have always been harder to turn out than the CPC supporters, are probably disenchated with Dion and resigned to a minority CPC government. One thing the CPC can count on is getting the votes out to the polls. The wildcard will be the lefty voters. One, if they get out. Two, how much effect strategic voting has.
  12. Inquiry? Not at all. Simply more evidence of his incompetence and incoherence.
  13. Makes perfect sense. After all, this is our first ever election. I gues you missed the part where jobs were created in every sector of the economy, except for food service (i.e., McJobs).
  14. I really couldn't care less about Quebec. They have proven time and time again that they have no interest in unity. I am sick and tired of the handouts and pandering to Quebec, by all federalist parties. I have no sympathy for Quebec if they continue to vote for the BQ. Whether it's the LPC, CPC or NDP, if they don't evidence any interest in a united Canada or voting for a party that is more than a one trick pony, I see no need to placate them. Federal leaders may feel differently.
  15. Why is it that being bilingual is a requirement for military service, RCMP service, etc., but not PM?
  16. Yep. So why didn't they use the surplus to pay down the debt instead of retaining it in their coffers?
  17. Stephen Harper does not have a Green Shift or carbon tax.
  18. Doubt it. But I would find it rather humorous.
  19. Even though real estate is historically a poor investment, comparative to the stock market? 1987 crash included.
